"This is Ken Otamendi who lived in the village called Hambale near Monza in Zambia. I was shooting a commercial for the charity Water Aid, Ken was one of the many villagers helping to dig a pit toilet. The pit toilets were to help fight against the growing number of people dying of diarrhoea, as a result of water becoming contaminated. Ken had brought his home-made guitar along and was singing while we worked. When everyone had finished building, the sun was setting and I asked Ken if he would play once more. He did and some of the villagers joined in. What happened next is what you see. It's one the most humbling experience I have had, how much life and joy there can be, with comparatively, so little. The music and it's energy, communicate this better than my words can." Dave Tree

God bless these people. They know how to be more thankful than us living in houses with food, bathrooms, showers. I feel ashamed of myself.

Ken actually says, "This song is entitled 'A Traditional Healer,'" not 'A Traditional Era.' And, according to the lyrics, the song is about traditional healers. Please fix this error. Thank you! It's a beautiful video.

Have so very little, but they seem so much more happier than some of the people I'm surrounded by.

Every time I watch this, I regain perspective of the world around me. Just seeing the little kids around him dancing and having fun despite all the pain and suffering in their area gives me hope for their future.

this video is so incredible, it really describes how a guitar and a voice can fill the air with good vibes, doesnt matter the language or if you understand it or whatever. it's just music. A Traditional Era.
