- From WNBC 4 New York, Here are some highlights from the August 25th, 1987 broadcast of News 4 Live At Five, with Jack Cafferty, Sue Simmons, and Al Roker with the weather. Also featuring Roger Grimsby with a commentary, Betty Furness with a consumer report, and Katie Kelly with Entertainment News.
This clip is being posted as a dedication to the legendary Don Pardo, who passed away on August 18th, 2014 at the age of 96 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. His voice may be silenced, but we'll all continue to hear it forever through UA-cam, VHS recordings, reruns, and the many programs and commercials that he did. May God Bless Don.

I was 4 1/2 years old living in East Keansburg, New Jersey when this aired. Just a few days before Thanksgiving, we moved to Deposit, New York just 2 weeks before I turned 5. I still have memories of these in my first 5 years.
Rest in peace Don Pardo you were the voice of NBC TV
In the midst of the NABET strike against NBC. Note the absence of a mic flag during Penza’s live report, also the News 4 theme is not cued up for the bumpers and Pardo’s outro is prerecorded - different suit and no mention of tomorrow’s guests. Few noticed and it was still the best-produced local news anywhere, nothing today can compare. Thanks for posting!
nah, a lot of stuff today compares to this
Is that Don Pardo announcing the Tidy Bowl commercial?
SuperPat88 Yes it is.
That was Betty Furness in 1979.
Sue Simmons was a dressy woman!!!!
CBS
Ironic given Michael Jackson only lived to be 50.
Roger Girmsby is shown to be a pervert.
Al Roker looks quite different now.
There was an inappropriate part in this.
