Great stuff 👍 looking forward to continuing to follow your journey and your weight loss graph 💪😅. Personally, I struggled to get going on my bike after completing my first endurance event🤪. But I'm regrouping and gonna continue long distance cycling as I really enjoy it , and partly from watching your approach to training , for a bit extra this year plan to focus more on strength worth and going to start training for a super sprint triathlon . I'm 53 with a few niggles and dodgy shoulders so the swimming will be bit of challenge for me, cheers 🙂
It's interesting that your DEXA scan report also contained the RMR estimate. I recently did a DEXA scan too, but my report didn't have the RMR figure. I could have done the RMR check separately, at extra cost, but decided against it, since I did this test a couple of years back, and I don't think it changes all that much (I know it could, but in my case, I don't think that it did). For your height, I think you have an impressive amount of lean weight, so yeah, BMI goes out the window in your case.
0:50 - hey Shayne: in your intro you say you lost 30kg by the time you completed IM Cairns. However, I distinctly remember your last weigh in on your graph had you at 108kg: which by my calculations would make a 37kg weight loss; or just over 6 stone in the old school scales. Don’t sell yourself short, lol😂
Ya BMI dont work =) My ideal weight looking at BMI is 72kg But at 8% body fat I was 85kg At 49 years of age.. I normally Sit around 90KG this is the weight I seem to be able to maintain with out starving my self on a daily basis .. Now your Goal to hit 10% will be possible with the right motivation, I will just tell you at your age your not going to be able to hold 10% unless your mental strength is ELITE level =) .. So hit 10% for the vid and the Picture also to tell your self I fooking Did it .. but in Reality I would aim to hold 15% .. Now what normaly happens for me is At Feb-March I will "diet" down to 15% to do my biking running Triathlons over the summer.. But over the winter I normaly let it go a bit and I will be back around 20% at Feb . Find the balance that work for you and just Stay there if you try to hold something unrealistic you will just give up and and see your self right back to 30% in 6-8 month .. Balance is key ..
Thanks for the feedback and congrats on your work. Having never done this I will take what you say onboard for sure, seeing how it all works out will be interesting for sure

Yeah rounded down haha I will revise
I've been meaning to do a dexa myself. I kind of wish I'd thought to do one a year ago before losing 110lb/50kg.
Yeah I wish I had taken more body measurements too but at least you lost the weight and that’s the achievement well done

10% is too low if you are natural. You are going to mess up your testosterone/energy/libido. Better to aim at 15% which is a healthy and fit body.
