I have been adding parts daily for the last 4 weeks. Each time I would get the part, select price guide, go back a page and then add to inventory. I hadn't realised you could select price guide at that point. D'oh.

Over time I have gained a proficiency on the parts and a knowledge of the colors and kinds that allows me to find parts of all kinds. The network of ppl in BL are also so very helpful for those few parts that are difficult to locate in the catalog. FIO app is now my go to tool for Minifigs!
Quality used Lego is available if you know where to look (at least here in the UK it is). You can expect to buy for anywhere between Zero pounds/dollars (friends and family wanting to simply regain space in their home after many years) and £20/kilo or $12/lb, which of course is considerably cheaper than buying new sets even at 50% discount in most cases. Yes, there is a much more work involved but that depends on the condition of the pieces and how much 'substitute Lego is in there to remove. My latest haul was approx 50 kg (110 lbs) of Lego which included Death Star, Simpsons House and many others going back 15 years, and there's another advantage in picking up used Lego - you will get pieces from many discontinued sets as well!.... I could go on, but perhaps this goes too much against the grain. Knowledge is tantamount (colours, parts etc, which I have set my sights to learn) but the pay off can be considerable with a bit of luck thrown in.... I get a great deal from watching your vids on youtube which I much appreciate by the way.....Best wishes you guys!
would it be smart to add a photo of an expensive used brick? i have set 10213 from when i was a kid and took great care of it. would a photo make sense for some parts that sell 40ish dollars now?
It could be smart to help show the condition of it, but you need to be sure to take a professional-looking photo with great detail. If it is blurry or too dark people will skip right over it when shopping.
We look to pay no more than $5.00 a pound unless we know there are a lot of mini figures or parts that are very valuable in the lot of parts. We try to get less than $5.00 per pound, but it's getting harder and harder to do that.
Depends on the amount of time you have. I you have the time and energy and organization to buy bulk and sort and list the parts, it is totally worth it, but if you do not have time to do it, it will not be worth it. Thanks for watching. Agree with the comments about time. That is why we have a system of helpers that we pay to process the parts. Those tasks that you can train someone else to do should be farmed out. It takes 5 min to train a sorter. It takes 1hour to train a cataloger. It takes 10min to train a parts picker. As so on. things like what sets to buy, what overhead costs to take on, how to price, customer service issues, buying supplies and more should be done by the manager(s). Then the senior leaders can focus on the long term vision. How big of a store to have, how many people employed, what state to operate in, where to run from. There is a lot, we need help.
@@GreatBrickLab i do it all myself while working a 50 hour a week job. you dont need lots of helpers you just need to be focused and grind out the used bins. more overheads to pay is less profit for you... i do very well by myself

When I buy used lots. We get 1000lbs at a time. The cost is about. $0.01 per gram. Average selling price per gram for used with minifigs included is .05-.25 per gram. Do that math and you’ll learn why lego is a good investment. What other toy can u buy used or at retail that has more value that what you just paid. For a businessman that is buying low and selling high.

Yes, If you are parting out used sets, it would me much faster to do that than it would be to go piece by piece.
