I graduated from a D3 school but took some classes at a juco and transferred the credits. The classes are WAY harder in D3! The juco classes were so easy it was kind of a joke.
My grandson has the opportunity to play at a JUCO D2 school and live at home. OR he has been offered a spot on a D2 small private college, they don’t get kids from the portal, they prefer to get kids out of high school and develop them. I have mixed feelings he is young for his school level. Should he stay home and mature a little more or should he go off to school, in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, and developed. My mind changes every day
Thx for the insight Coach. I have a high academic 16yo that will turn 17 in Feb 2025 of his graduating yr. For a kid like this do D1 mid majors take into consideration that he's young and would be a great option to groom for one yr?
College coaches at the higher levels are recruiting athletes who can help their programs win games. Simple as that. If your son is young for his graduating class, I would strongly consider Academic Post graduate programs in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic areas that can help prepare your son for the collective college experience ahead!
My son was considering JUCO even before the new NCAA scholarship rules. He doesn't want to sit forever on a D1 team.
JUCO is going to be flooded here in the next few years, IMO.

Depends on opportunities/ coaching at both schools! Good luck with the decision!!

So is Division 3 your best bet straight out of high school if you're not a certified stud?
JUCO D3 is much stronger than High School baseball. Skill and Strength needed at ANY level of college baseball
