This video reminded me of how much I love the Carnivores Ice Age theme, makes me feel like I'm lost in a spooky blizzard with unseen danger lurking around every corner...
I feel like some of the maps should have little teasers for the Yeti, like a trashed hunter camp, trees that might be broken and arranged in unnatural ways, ambient wood knocking, etc.
I actually really didn't mind the original Wooly Rhino appearance - I like the photorealistic looking fur. The problem was it was too similar to the gloriously alien looking Bronto, and could easily be mistaken for it all the time. It just didn't help the variety in the roster, so even though I kind of like its original look I'm okay with it looking different just for the sake of being more individual. Same for the bear even, from afar the bear could easily look like the rhino. As for the Yeti.... I won't even care if it's literally the exact same thing, just so long as we finally get better sounds for it. Hearing the bear sounds recycled for it was one of the most disappointing things for me in Ice Age, and that's coming from someone who actually loved this game. Yes I even liked the maps, but the problem was every one of them was basically the same idea, save for the one that had no snow. You could basically squish most of the original maps into one and no one would know the difference. I'll be looking forward to some environments with personality this time. The pig I also actually kind of liked because it looked different from some of the other animals at least, but honestly I think it'd work better as an ambient animal because it's lame. Or maybe, just maybe, once we FINALLY get the god damn steam port of the mobile games, someone can port this mod and be able to have unlimited animal roster counts so it won't feel like a big deal to throw the warthog back in just for the sake of it. I feel that way for a lot of the "lesser" animals from the Carnivores series. There's plenty of things that I think have the right to exist, it's just less desirable for us in our current situation, because when we make mods we can only have a certain number of huntable animals. The mammoth though.... I'll be honest with you. I hate this. I was a real fan of how the original one looked so majestic, with its more relaxed attitude and the grey-brown fur. Its appearance on the main menu really set the tone along with the music. I really don't like the more reddish color of fur here. I'd much prefer the original over this new "edgy" thing. Sometimes the old saying is actually more reasonable - if it's not broken, don't fix it. I don't see this as an improvement. This is taking one of the most memorable animals from the entire roster, and butchering it because "nu mod". I also think I prefer the original dire wolf and especially the old redish-grey-blue Diatyma. The new grey-green, desaturated version of this bird just looks stupid. I liked how vibrant it was in the past, it made it more unique in the roster.
This is so exciting! I've always loved the ice age as a whole. Massive sabertoothed mammals and merciless blizzards in an unsettlingly quiet world under the ever ambient snowfall, just gets me going! I've always loved winter more than summer. 😁 I have really high hopes for this mod and CANNOT WAIT to see what's become of the Yeti! 😆

However, the poacher didn’t make it to the final version of the game. However, you can still find the model in the game’s files

So sorry for not watching and commenting until now. I was actually on a dinosaur dig at the time and I sort of lost track a bit because I have been adjusting to things I have been doing now. I am really excited to see a big + type mod for Ice Age. I have often wondered if such a thing would happen because we could use more Ice Age theme mods. Also when you first mentioned C2+ I was wondering which video showed it, but then I saw the closing scene, and I can't wait to see that too and I also wondered if such a mod would happen. I can't wait to see these releases and I love your videos as always. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am really looking forward to the lure that will be introduced in both Ice Age+ and 2+.
I think if it is possible the trophy room could be a icey cave. Maybe it could have some frozen skeletons in the background. I don't know why I just think it would be pretty cool.

I don’t want to make any assumptions but this announcement is 4 years old and there hasn’t been any other news or information about this mod. I mean we got a redesign Yeti (that looks absolutely primal) but that’s all we got, are they still working on this project?

Ice Age may have been an uncompleted, disappointing entry in the franchise but this game was what got me into PC games way back in the day. The chilling menu music and sophisticated UI, the gameplay that seems dull and boring to experienced players but frightening to novices knowing they could be chased by a diatryma or smilodon from a mile away at any second. When I heard that news of the reboot/mod had begun to surface, I was shocked and amazed, but more recent news conveying that the project has either been canceled or put on hold has left me saddened. I hope this game gets the proper remaster it desperately desires, even if it's run on the same or similar engine I wouldn't mind. But yeah, one can hope, maybe someday...

Arctodus is'nt the cave bear it's a Short-Faced bear. the biggest bear that ever lived, even larger than the Cave bear. Did they remove Andrewsarchus, indricotherium, titanis, and hyeanodon? because i didnt see them in the roster. I'm very exited for the update and it has lots of changes.
Yes, it's called Arctodus, the reason being because it's going to include select features from the short-faced bear in its design. This bear is basically going to be a giant amalgamation of the best elements of all the popular extinct bear species. As for the other four animals, they were never in the roster. This is a mod for the PC version of Ice Age, the mobile version is a completely separate thing.
Am I the only one that feels that Raptor Claw, PivotNaza, and other major mod and new game builders should come together to build the grand ULTIMATE, all in one, CARNIVORES game?!
In short: Some things I'd do differently, but that's mostly due to personal tastes and I'm looking forward to this. In depth: Part one below... *Animal menu preview/info:* As the current layout is rather inefficient in space usage, It might be better to go with a more traditional arrangement; either dropping the in-environment picture and moving the central picture to the left or dropping said central picture and enlarging the in-environment picture, reducing the amount of overlapping elements while opening up room for information above the sensory info, with perhaps a graphic to the right of the sensory info showing the animal's target zones. (There _are_ going to be target zones on the animals in this mod, right?) *Maps:* I have mixed feelings on the changes to McRath Island. On one hand, I approve the removal of the "stupid garden trees" (as I call them); on the other hand, replacing said trees with *more* trees takes away from the feeling of desolate openness that the original map seemed to convey, while also making it feel more like the other Ice Age maps - and we all remember how samey the original maps felt. I'm more indifferent to the changes to Raveran's Bridge. I'll need to see more before I can further develop any thoughts. *The Weapons:* With the weapon rosters in most Carnivores mods, I usually feel there is more focus on quantity over making each weapon balanced and functionally distinct. While I do see potential shades of this here, it's nice to hear things are going to be handled a little differently from the norm. I'll do a follow-up covering my thoughts on the creatures later.
Part two: the creatures (Took me long enough...) *Teratornis:* An obvious and fitting choice for an aerial ambient. (more so than the "Archaeopterics" we got in the original game) Not a fan of the proposed wing claws; hoping those won't make to the final model. *Dodo:* If Poharex's model is used, hopefully it will get new animations, sounds, and a texture edit (at the very least some more subdued colors). *Eohippus & Oreodont:* Personally I'd give the tertiary animals their own dedicated mod, but that's probably just me. I do note; however, that these two creature might end up a little similar; perhaps one of them should be replaced with something more distinct, like a Glyptodon? *Megaloceros:* LOVING the revamped model. It always struck me as odd that Action Forms chose to make the antlers _smaller_ than on the real thing, so it's great to see that being fixed. The addiction of a doe is also nice; I'm guessing it will function as a rare ambient, giving no points (or even a penalty) when downed. *Wolf & Diatryma:* Not a fan of the retextures; they don't really improve the designs. *Woolly Rhino:* Unsure about this one. Obviously the textures are _very_ WIP, but the design so far isn't that appealing; hopefully it'll get another overhaul at some point (if it hasn't already). *Megathere:* Looks promising so far. *Smilodon:* As someone who dislikes the original _Ice Age_ Smilodon design, this is a definite improvement so far. If I do have to critique the current torso, I think the back could be less concave and more sloping, like on its Earth-counterpart. Hopefully this remodel will include a complete overhaul of the head. *Bear:* Sounds promising. *Mammoth:* Not sure what to make of this one. Besides a slightly darker skin and a slightly thicker trunk and tucks, it's not that different from the original.
A question I have is that in the mobile ice age version, I forget which island, but they say that there are seven trees that have been snapped in half by a creature. Where are those trees? Edit: it was dry nodus lake. But where are they

The game covered in this video isn't a mobile app, it's a PC game mod, so you don't need real money to play it, it's free. As for the Android port of Ice Age, I think you do need real money to progress and unlock everything.
I hope the Yeti better looked like a real life form with five fingers and five toes and it should've replace the Brontoteriy with the either a cave lion or American lion.
Two things to consider for this new redux of Carnivores Ice Age - 1. The woolly rhino should have new sound effects during its kill animation. The one in the original sounded less like a rhinoceros and more like a dying sea lion to me. 2. Why say Megateriy when you could just refer to it as a giant ground sloth, because ... that's what it basically is?
My question is, why single out Megateriy? No one's calling the wooly rhino "Coelodonta" or The Yeti "Gigantosimiae" either. Ice Age has had colloquial and scientific names for its creatures in the past, and this is a nod to that.
A great showcase, this looks really promising! While not as good as Carnivores 2 I did like Ice Age for what it was worth, so I'm REALLY hyped to play this! But let's take a moment to remember the fallen. RIP Pig and Warthog you will (not) be missed. There's so much to look forward to I don't even know where to begin, I guess seeing how the maps get touched up.
@@SaurianTarget Would at least be cool for some more exotic but morphologically similar species to have been added. I liked the Warthog because it filled up a medium sized herbivore role.
Hey saurian if you have connections to the mod devs of this fantastic project, could you think that they could possibly salvage the animations from ARK Survival Evolved. Just think about it, the waking, running, eating, and level up animation could bring good results if formatted correctly or just build the animations from the ground up. Either way great work raptor claw and great work to any others who may be helping with this carnivores mod
Also, I feel that the Yeti AI should be more advanced than most other predator AI's in the game. I feel that it should be a bit stealthier as it begins to stalk the player, with the only hint it's near (aside for an occasion glimpse as it moves from cover to cover) could be an occasion twig snap or something that sounds like it could be ambiance, but still distinct to where a player should get the sense that something just isn't right. And perhaps give the Yet a couple tactics for attacking players. one being a charge from cover, when it gets "close enough" to the player to risk a direct assault. The other tactic, the Yeti could conceal itself with a tree or bush, as the player approaches, lying in ambush. And perhaps the the only/last warning the player gets is the sound of the Yeti's breathing, followed by a defining roar, as its arm reach out from cover and grab and dispatch the player! That could be kind terrifying, if done right!
Those are all really cool ideas, but I'd keep in mind that this is a 20 year old engine that's not really capable of what a lot of modern engines are. It would be great to see AI that advanced, but that's gonna have to wait for a new engine, I'm afraid.

I love the new features coming in this version!!!
I just love how this game is getting a reboot and to see the new animals (^^)
I remember loving this game as a kid
Saurian is back and a new ice age carnivores sounds awsome, but I do hope the yetis are more scarier and deadlier
In short: Some things I'd do differently, but that's mostly due to personal tastes and I'm looking forward to this.
In depth: Part one below...
*Animal menu preview/info:* As the current layout is rather inefficient in space usage, It might be better to go with a more traditional arrangement; either dropping the in-environment picture and moving the central picture to the left or dropping said central picture and enlarging the in-environment picture, reducing the amount of overlapping elements while opening up room for information above the sensory info, with perhaps a graphic to the right of the sensory info showing the animal's target zones. (There _are_ going to be target zones on the animals in this mod, right?)
*Maps:* I have mixed feelings on the changes to McRath Island. On one hand, I approve the removal of the "stupid garden trees" (as I call them); on the other hand, replacing said trees with *more* trees takes away from the feeling of desolate openness that the original map seemed to convey, while also making it feel more like the other Ice Age maps - and we all remember how samey the original maps felt. I'm more indifferent to the changes to Raveran's Bridge. I'll need to see more before I can further develop any thoughts.
*The Weapons:* With the weapon rosters in most Carnivores mods, I usually feel there is more focus on quantity over making each weapon balanced and functionally distinct. While I do see potential shades of this here, it's nice to hear things are going to be handled a little differently from the norm.
I'll do a follow-up covering my thoughts on the creatures later.
Part two: the creatures (Took me long enough...)
*Teratornis:* An obvious and fitting choice for an aerial ambient. (more so than the "Archaeopterics" we got in the original game) Not a fan of the proposed wing claws; hoping those won't make to the final model.
*Dodo:* If Poharex's model is used, hopefully it will get new animations, sounds, and a texture edit (at the very least some more subdued colors).
*Eohippus & Oreodont:* Personally I'd give the tertiary animals their own dedicated mod, but that's probably just me. I do note; however, that these two creature might end up a little similar; perhaps one of them should be replaced with something more distinct, like a Glyptodon?
*Megaloceros:* LOVING the revamped model. It always struck me as odd that Action Forms chose to make the antlers _smaller_ than on the real thing, so it's great to see that being fixed. The addiction of a doe is also nice; I'm guessing it will function as a rare ambient, giving no points (or even a penalty) when downed.
*Wolf & Diatryma:* Not a fan of the retextures; they don't really improve the designs.
*Woolly Rhino:* Unsure about this one. Obviously the textures are _very_ WIP, but the design so far isn't that appealing; hopefully it'll get another overhaul at some point (if it hasn't already).
*Megathere:* Looks promising so far.
*Smilodon:* As someone who dislikes the original _Ice Age_ Smilodon design, this is a definite improvement so far. If I do have to critique the current torso, I think the back could be less concave and more sloping, like on its Earth-counterpart. Hopefully this remodel will include a complete overhaul of the head.
*Bear:* Sounds promising.
*Mammoth:* Not sure what to make of this one. Besides a slightly darker skin and a slightly thicker trunk and tucks, it's not that different from the original.
A question I have is that in the mobile ice age version, I forget which island, but they say that there are seven trees that have been snapped in half by a creature. Where are those trees?

Not seven trees, most of the tall trees are snapped all over the map.

Basically, the company that owns the apps doesn't really care for them so they've been pretty dead for a while now.

The game covered in this video isn't a mobile app, it's a PC game mod, so you don't need real money to play it, it's free.
As for the Android port of Ice Age, I think you do need real money to progress and unlock everything.

I hope the Yeti better looked like a real life form with five fingers and five toes and it should've replace the Brontoteriy with the either a cave lion or American lion.
Two things to consider for this new redux of Carnivores Ice Age - 1. The woolly rhino should have new sound effects during its kill animation. The one in the original sounded less like a rhinoceros and more like a dying sea lion to me. 2. Why say Megateriy when you could just refer to it as a giant ground sloth, because ... that's what it basically is?
My question is, why single out Megateriy? No one's calling the wooly rhino "Coelodonta" or The Yeti "Gigantosimiae" either. Ice Age has had colloquial and scientific names for its creatures in the past, and this is a nod to that.
Fair enough. I still want the Megateriy to be referred to as a giant ground sloth though.
I'm sure that's how it will be referred to by most, myself included.
Well, I'm still waiting here after 5 YEARS. I find it somewhat sad that this mod has apparently been cancelled, it had a lot of potential.
A great showcase, this looks really promising! While not as good as Carnivores 2 I did like Ice Age for what it was worth, so I'm REALLY hyped to play this! But let's take a moment to remember the fallen. RIP Pig and Warthog you will (not) be missed.
There's so much to look forward to I don't even know where to begin, I guess seeing how the maps get touched up.
I'll have a bacon sandwich or something in memoriam. xD
@@SaurianTarget Would at least be cool for some more exotic but morphologically similar species to have been added. I liked the Warthog because it filled up a medium sized herbivore role.

I would love a modern ice age carnivores game. You can only mod so far with the base game. ill deff have to check this out though.
The mammoth redesign looks like 1 of many Charles Knight's depictions of the hairy elephant.

It is shelved as far as a standalone release goes, but elements of it are being incorporated into Far North now

Hey saurian if you have connections to the mod devs of this fantastic project, could you think that they could possibly salvage the animations from ARK Survival Evolved. Just think about it, the waking, running, eating, and level up animation could bring good results if formatted correctly or just build the animations from the ground up. Either way great work raptor claw and great work to any others who may be helping with this carnivores mod

Also, I feel that the Yeti AI should be more advanced than most other predator AI's in the game. I feel that it should be a bit stealthier as it begins to stalk the player, with the only hint it's near (aside for an occasion glimpse as it moves from cover to cover) could be an occasion twig snap or something that sounds like it could be ambiance, but still distinct to where a player should get the sense that something just isn't right.
And perhaps give the Yet a couple tactics for attacking players. one being a charge from cover, when it gets "close enough" to the player to risk a direct assault. The other tactic, the Yeti could conceal itself with a tree or bush, as the player approaches, lying in ambush. And perhaps the the only/last warning the player gets is the sound of the Yeti's breathing, followed by a defining roar, as its arm reach out from cover and grab and dispatch the player! That could be kind terrifying, if done right!
Those are all really cool ideas, but I'd keep in mind that this is a 20 year old engine that's not really capable of what a lot of modern engines are. It would be great to see AI that advanced, but that's gonna have to wait for a new engine, I'm afraid.
