Joy you are a JOY!! Love watching and listening to you. I have learned so very much from you and I have been sewing most of my life. Big smile on my face when I turn on UA-cam and you have a new blog. Please keep on!
Thank You! Thank You! This is exactly what I needed. I know there are may sewing vlogs showing how they do things, but this is BY FAR THE BEST! This makes sense. Ty Joy ❤
I hope you got my message on last video that there is no cancer. I just need to get my gallbladder removed. Thank you everyone for your prayers. Even though I have seen most of this before I really needed this review. All last month believing that I had cancer really messed with my brain. I did some sewing but I think I was in robot mode. Things that came naturally before I’ve really had to stop & think hard before preceding. Now that I know I’m going to be ok it is getting better. I’m really excited to get back into sewing and just loving that again I’m really able to enjoy it. I am taking couple days away from sewing because my house cleaning suffered too.
Thank you for your instruction I have watched other people but they confuse me you make it clear for me to understand I love your demos. I look forward to your scan and cut demos too.
What a video!!!👏 you explained ALL the corrections I need and do! Good job Joy- fully explained and now that fills the ‘GAP’ in my brain😂 Love your channel ❤and tell EVERYONE about it! Happy Sewing 🧵 Virginia in Arkansas
Thank you for making this video Joy! I'm going to put this in a group of my sewing tutorials to help me out when I need help with fit. Merry Christmas! I'm taking a break on my channel for the holidays and we'll be back January 1st. I'm a little channel but I'd love for you to stop by and say hello!❤❤❤
Wish I had thought of that. It is quite simple. Just draw a line straight up from center front and connect a new necklin e curve from the shoulder to the higher center front point. I have had to do that a few times.
Thank you! All this time,I thought it was my error with the brand name patterns. I have made several tops. Unfortunately sewn with large neck lines and Gapping. I truly appreciate your expertise. Blessings of health and happiness to you and Jerry.
Hi Joy! How are you? Sorry I haven’t commented in a while! But I’m still watching every video😊 Actually you are correct in using the word “gaping” to describe too big of a neckline. As in “A gaping neckline” or “A gaping hole” (pronounced with a long “A” sound as in “staple”). Hope this helps👍🏼
Thank you very much. All this time,I thought it was my error with the brand name patterns. I have made several tops. Unfortunately sewn with large neck lines and Gapping. I truly appreciate your expertise. Blessings of health and happiness to you and Jerry.
That was so helpful! I feel like I can tackle my fit issues. You’re a great teacher. I always go to your videos first for instructions. Am I assuming correctly that the facings might need some adjusting? Maybe redraw them? Thank you for taking time for all of us.
Hi Joy, Love your videos. I look forward to them. You make me want to start sewing some clothes again. Love the tree quilt on the wall. Would you mind sharing the pattern name so that I could buy it? Thank you
Hi Joy - another wonderful, informative video. I always learn something every time I watch - and watch. Two questions - can you give me the measurements for the pant "sleeve" you showed on your video. I'm going to try and make one. Also, really like the blouse you are wearing. The hemline sets it off. Is there a pattern available?
✨ THANK YOU for that correction. I love to learn such things, and to correct my errors. I did not know that. I am embarrassed that all my years I was using those words incorrectly, and I pride myself on knowing such things. I have another very commonly used word that is 100% WRONG. MOST people, and those who SHOULD know better..writers, people in the media who report on things etc. It is:...Demonstrate. vs Remonstrate. To DEmonstrate, is to show HOW to do something. To REmonstrate is to PROTEST.
I did not know the word "remonstrate" at all. I love to learn new things too, and I do not mine being corrected. My Mom was always correcting on me on "sat" and "set". She would say, "Joy, only hens set!"
If you are adjusting the front or back neckline, and your pattern calls for neck facings--you need to draw new facing pieces to match your “new” neckline?
I just googled for sewing term for too big of a neck and called it a gapping neckline and went on to say describe it as ring a gaping neckline so you really weren’t wrong to begin with. There are often terms that apply to a particular practice that mean different to what they mean in basic dictionary. I learned that in nursing school. Such as the word nut means different things according to application.
Thanks Joy! I have an upper body similar to you. I’m 10 years older than you. Life has interfered with my sewing. I tripped in my garden and broke 2 ribs resulting in pneumonia, then a relapse. I miss sewing. It hurts my ribs to sit and sew on my machine.
It depends if the hump is even all the way across her back, or is it just on one side. If it is just on one side, you would have to do two side back patterns with a seam down center back. My Mom had a little hump on one side, but I made both sides the same. It came out fine. Her hump was small though.
I think a neckline can form a gap….. the fabric doesn’t lie flat but forms a gap (open space) when fabric lays against the body. You’re too hard on yourself…. Look what we learned today!
Thank you, Joy, for the informative video!❤

Joy, you are the best at demonstrating pattern fitting. Thank you.
Thank you, Joy! Just the adjustment I need! - especially the sloppy neck one. You are The Master of Fit!
Another excellent video!

This is such great info, Joy!! I really needed this.
always nice to see you, Joy! Sending warm wishes to you & Jerry this holiday season ❤
Thank you Joy. I watch your videos over and over. I learn something new every time.
Enjoyed your instructions very much.
I learn so much by watching you. I like you filming in the smaller room--I can hear you better and see what you are doing. Thank you.
Excellent! I hope you cover how to easily raise a nick line. I find that many patterns the V neck is way to low. God bless ya.
Wish I had thought of that. It is quite simple. Just draw a line straight up from center front and connect a new necklin e curve from the shoulder to the higher center front point. I have had to do that a few times.
Hey Joy😊 I do appreciate your sewing advice now that I have to readjust my clothing for that back brace
When did the back brace happen? Didn't know that.
@@Joy4650Bmy rheumatologist says I have to wear a back brace the only time I take off is to go to sleep or shower

Absolutely. I thought I mentioned that. You have to fix the facings to match the new neckline.
You had it right the first time, gaps gape open, they are gaping. To gawp is to stare in astonishment. Sagging works too.
Great video Joy ❤❤
My sewing room is my dining room table so you know what my apartment looks like.
My sway back happened when I fell off a ladder.
Excellent
Hi Joy, Love your videos. I look forward to them. You make me want to start sewing some clothes again. Love the tree quilt on the wall. Would you mind sharing the pattern name so that I could buy it? Thank you
It was a free pattern from Quilt Country. I just checked their website, and it is not there. You could call them. They are in Lewisville, TX.
@@Joy4650B Thank you so much Joy.
Love the quilt, was there a pattern?
You must mean the trees. I believe that is a free pattern from Quilt Country in Lewisville, TX.

Yes, if you make an adjustment to the neckline , then you need to draw a new facing.
Yes, Cheri. I thought I said that somewhere in this video.
@@Joy4650B oh sorry-- I must have missed it!

Joy could you a Video on how to do a FBA on a tee shirt pattern that has a no darts?
I've done that several times. I'll do a new video on that soon. I need to title my videos so they are easier to find years later.
@ Thank you Joy! I found one! It took me a while to find it! I just love watching you! I have learned so much from you!
If your neckline sags, people will be gaping. It's a gaping neckline hahaha
Thanks Joy! I have an upper body similar to you. I’m 10 years older than you. Life has interfered with my sewing. I tripped in my garden and broke 2 ribs resulting in pneumonia, then a relapse. I miss sewing. It hurts my ribs to sit and sew on my machine.
Oh ouch! Hope you heal soon so you can get back to sewing.
OUCH! I hurt some ribs one time, and it is shocking how painful that can be. Hope you recover quickly.
Hi Joy! 👋 One of my girlfriends has a hump in her back from severe scoliosis. How do you fix that? I appreciate your help.
It depends if the hump is even all the way across her back, or is it just on one side. If it is just on one side, you would have to do two side back patterns with a seam down center back. My Mom had a little hump on one side, but I made both sides the same. It came out fine. Her hump was small though.

Thank you. We will try a simple blouse and see how it comes out. I appreciate your help and enjoy your videos. ❤️
Hi Joy! Which fit system do you use? Is it Surefit Designs?
A few videos ago, you can see both systems I use.
Gape = to leave wide open.
Gawp = to stare rudely.
Gap = A space.
Gape = "to stare with open mouth". That is what I got.
I think a neckline can form a gap….. the fabric doesn’t lie flat but forms a gap (open space) when fabric lays against the body. You’re too hard on yourself…. Look what we learned today!
Thank you Joy!
