Reinvention and continuity - OOMPH! have been synonymous with self-renewal, pioneer spirit and carefree creativity for almost three decades. The Germans have been raised on EBM, rock and new wave, accidentally started a new subgenre in the 90s (the so-called Neue Deutsche Härte that influenced Rammstein and many more) and were crossover when crossover wasn`t even born. Many years later legions of fans with varied musical backgrounds are hooked and the band is no stranger to the highest chart positions - CRAP, DERO and FLUX were awarded their first platinum record for Wahrheit oder Pflicht in 2004. The trio is now ready to release its thirteenth longplayer Ritual that is poised to catch the listener offguard, „Our most aggressive, heaviest and darkest album in a while“, singer DERO states truthfully. The fuming and pounding triumvirate ‘Tausend Mann und ein Befehl‘, ‘Achtung! Achtung!‘ and ‘Kein Liebeslied‘ delivers the goods in stomping old school fashion, but after a breathless start it`s time for the über-catchy ‘Europa‘ (feat. Chris Harms / Lord Of The Lost) and the dancefloor monster ‘Im Namen des Vaters‘. Batshit insane electro tune ‘TRRR - FCKN - HTLR‘ curiously marks the only tongue-in-cheek entry on the otherwise rather stern Ritual that tackles politics, war and abuse. In the early beginnings Oomph! had a lightly different style. (Just a little bit. They changed from album to album like the most bands do while experimenting with music. When you hear a very old songs you'll hear the
similarities to rammstein earlier days.) It was rock with electro elements and they were the first "Neue deutsche Härte" band who did this. Rammstein DID got some inspiration from them, thats true and its nice that they gave credits to them and don't turn it into a secret. ( Oomph! is founded 1989 and Rammstein 1994) Yes, Rammstein is unique and also is Oomph! bcs they do their stuff on different ways and they both do this amazing! But Fact: Oomph! was building the house for all the others. :)
It is true that Oomph inspired a lot of Rammsteins work, being Oomph was one of the earliest NDH bands. And still kicking ass.
Oomph!! was the first of this genre. Rammstein formed after its members was influenced by Oomph!! if I'm not mistaken. Actually, young Oomph!! and young Rammstein sounded alike a lot.

There are many good Songs by Oomph, you might check out one of the very old Songs, like "Gekreuzigt ", or Songs like "Augen auf" or "Labyrinth " which were very successfull. 🤘

Yeah that is true, Oomph are considered the ones that came out first with this genre known in Germany as "Neue Deutsche Härte" for the rest of the world is just Industrial Metal.
NDH isn't exactly industrial Metal. It is Kind of Industrial Metal with German characteristics. It is predominantly sung in German, the hard music is very well blended with the electronic aspects. NDH is very masculine in it's onstage persona. American Industrial Metal is just so much different than NDH. I personally prefer the haunting melodies of NDH. I like American Industrial Metal, but NDH is just better in every way.

"Tausend Mann und ein Befehl" (1000 Men and one Order) is a Tribute to an old German Song called "Hundert Mann und ein Befehl/Irgendwo im Fremden Land" ( 100 Men and one Order/Somewhere in a Foreign Land),released in 1966,sung by several German Artists over the Years.....
ums genau zu sagen: Es basiert auf den Song "The Ballad of the Green Berets" von Robin Moore, dass dann im deutschen von Freddy Qinn u.a. aufgegriffen wurde. Oomph dreht es aber ins Gegenteil. Der Ursprung war ja Propaganda für den Vietnamkrieg.

I think we should all give credits to Böhse Onkelz, too. Founded in 1980, they seem to be the first Band using guitars, drums and rather low voiced, harsh and gritty vocals IN GERMAN language. I can imagine that they built the foundation for all those german singing rock bands that emerged over the decades after 1980. They opened up a new horizon in german music industry. Comments? Opinions?

Well here is a band I use to listen to a lot and totally forgot about! being it had been so long since they put out a new album. I actually own all their old CD's. I guess I will have to add this new (2019) one to my streaming playlist. The totally go hand in hand with old Rammstein, which is how I got into them

Biggest influence to Rammstein were Laibach, where they made a homage by taking Laibach's Logo Cross in the Rammstein Logo, and Oomph! for the industrial electro rock style.

Yes Oomph are a bit said to have established the Ground and path for Bands like Rammstein. The new german hardness ("Neue Deutsche Härte") is simple awesome and it often Sounds military! :-)
They did a collaboration with Nina Hagen with the song "Fieber" ("Fever"). Just a suggestion since I can't afford to be a subscriber.
Next reaction should be Die Kreatur - kälter als der Tod. Dero Goi sings in that band with Chris Harms from Lord of the Lost.

i just want to express my utopia as i would like to see a future germany. The money that is being spent on the military today should be used to reduce hunger in the world. Consider how heavy the military expenditures are, just that of Germany would be enough to really switch off hunger in the world. Not even talked about the umpteen times higher butget in the US. Just my utopia, but wouldn't that be nice?

Before OOMPH! released their first Industrial metal album (Sperm), Rammstein already did demos and a few of concerts in underground clubs, the 5-track demo of Rammstein (which is available on UA-cam and already had Herzeleid songs) was released a few days before the release of Sperm; OOMPH were a different band with a different sound before that album, they were an EBM band (totally electronic band without guitar) in the style of Nitzer Ebb, so this is an incorrect statement, maybe they were a bit influenced but i think Rammstein were more influenced by Die Krupps, Ministry, KMFDM and Fleischmann (Richard mentioned this band in some early interviews).
Rammstein never mentioned OOMPH as their influence in their interviews anyway, so this look like a false myth to me.

@@the_seer_0421 I mean, only Dero said this through the years, i never have never read any interview of Richard, Till, Flake or Schneider where they mention OOMPH!, they mentioned Die Krupps, Laibach and even Fleischmann among their influences, but never OOMPH (and I have also read a few old interviews of Rammstein from Metal Hammer of 1995/96).

It's kind of a myth that rammstein got influenced by oomph. the rammstein members were all born in east germany and listened to punk and rock and they just wanted to sound different. Theres no record of anyone saying that oomph has been an influence
Well, Dero from Oomph! mentioned this fact (about the influence on Rammstein) in many interviews, that's what I'm sure about. He is very proud of it. I don't think that he made it all up.

I don't like these guys anymore, since Dero (the singer) was a big crybaby about Rammsteins success with the single "Deutschland". He spread conspiracy theories and said that Rammstein have a leftist agenda and stuff on their Facebook page. He apologized later, but I think this was very weird, juvenile and disrespectful. There was always a competition between Oomph and Rammstein. Oomph created this style, long before Rammstein was a thing, and there is jealousy about Rammsteins international success. But despite the music....Rammsteins lyrics are way smarter and deeper. Oomph is simpler and more to sing along.

Irgendwer hat wahrscheinlich auch noch Geld ausgegeben, um sich ausgerechnet von diesen beiden Blitzbirnen eine Reaktion zu wünschen.
Das Geld hätte man besser einem Betonblock für eine Reaktion gegeben. Dieser imaginäre Betonblock wäre glaubwürdiger bei der Reaktion gewesen und hätte am Ende der Reaktion wahrscheinlich sogar mal die englische Übersetzung des deutschen Texts ergoogelt & besprochen...im Gegensatz zu diesen beiden faulen Raketenwissenschaftlern. 🙄

@@ingovonderluhe2174 Also nach eigener Aussage hat sich Rammstein deren Mitglieder alle aus der Punkecke kamen in der Anfangszeit für ihr neues Projekt an Pantera orientiert und Elektrosound mit harten Gitarrenriffs zu kombinieren war damals in der Technohochburg Berlin das Normalste der Welt, das mit Oomph ist ein Gerücht und wurde wohl auch von Dero selbst in die Welt gesetzt. Oomph versucht seit 1989 irgendwie erfolgreich was im Musik Buisness zu reißen, nun ja............. und hat sich mal selbst an DAF und Die Krupps orientiert. Da die Musik und Präsentation von Rammstein und Oomph praktisch nichts verbindet, außer ein Kunstwort von der Musikpresse in Anlehnung an "Neue Deutsche Welle" für das Rammstein Album "Herzeleid" erfunden, mit dem Rammstein sich selbst nie indentifiziert haben, ist es auch völlig egal seit wann Oomph als Oomph und Rammstein als Rammstein am Start waren. Rammstein von Heute ist im übrigen auch nur noch ein Schatten der Kapelle Rammstein von Gestern und übertüncht das mit gewaltigen Bühnenaufbauten.
oomph did boring mainstream pop rock before it was mainstream. srry i know they are very very popular in east europe (especially russia) but as a german they make me cringe hard whenever i think: hey lets give them another try.
