Just played Merion on Friday. By far the hardest course I've ever played. It's not long but it forces you to be perfect in order to score. Some greens are guarded by 6+ bunkers. Rough was only cut to 2-3/4" compared to the 5" cut in the US Open and it's still extremely difficult to hit out of the rough. There are fairways that move right-left at almost a 45 degree angle meaning the tee shot has to be placed perfectly in order to not roll out into the rough. Greens are extremely firm and fast, barely any ball marks even with a wedge into the green. So many fairway bunkers... Very difficult but also the most beautiful golf course I've played that isn't on the edge of a coast.
they said over and over for this tournament that the back half of the green on 18 was impossible to stop a ball. What i dont understand is that no one complained about it, and yet with Shinnecock this year the same thing happened and all of a sudden everyone wants the USGA to apologise. what gives?
I love seeing the players struggle its the us open it shows how good they really are it’s a major I don’t like seeing the winner at -20 it’s boring The courses are supposed to be tuff when they struggle it fun to watch bc they never get a challenge like that High Rough Short Fairway Fast Greens that’s the us open

i dont get how one of mickelson's playing partner was able to RUN across the green after phil putts to get a read from the opposite angle

There was some complaints about that and the par 3 that was almost 300 yards. Marion played almost perfect but this hole didn't need to be lengthen.

i havent tried it on tiger woods 08 yet, i was there round 3

if you want to have fun,don't play merion
Played there multiple times one of the most fun courses I've ever played
If you are a 10 handicap you will struggle to make 100
