In Outlander Season 7, Jamie, Claire, and their family are caught in the violent birth pains of an emerging nation as armies march to war and British institutions crumble in the face of armed rebellion. What an episode! I’ve watched it 3x now and the ending always make me cry. I can’t wait to see the next batch of episodes.
Another great episode. Jamie's goodbye to his cousin was heart-wrenching. Jamie's expression upon seeing Scotland again...❤❤❤
Episode 8 was by far the best episode of the season. It had a great balance of action, historical reverence, and character development the rest of the season was missing due to the compression of the books into two seasons.....
Thrilled that the family will be back in bonnie Scotland for part 2. (I mean story wise... in reality production never left!!)

It was a wonderful episode but I'm still going to complain about how stupid it is to split the season. After all this wait we only get 8 episode. Ugh! Hopefully they will release part 2 early 2024 but they will probably make us wait until at least June 2024 or even later.
Surely the idea is to see if they can get an idea of the ending from Diana Gabaldon so that they can finish off season 8 with the actual finish instead of something that will annoy people once the final book comes out.
Starz couldn’t facilitate 16 weeks of Outlander. They had other shows to consider. They did the same thing for S1. Hopefully it will be back by March.
They did the same with Season 1, which was also a total of 16 episodes, and it was a hugely successful move for them. I suppose they are hoping lightning strikes twice.
FWIW, Maril Davis indicated it would be "early spring" 2024. So maybe March...?
I read that they hadn't finished with all the post-production work on the second half and that because of the strike, it might be delayed. Is there anyone knowledgeable about this kind of thing who knows?
Great ep imho. Scotland!!!! Finally!!! He earned it. It's just awful that we have to wait until 2024 for the rest of season 7!!! What a ripoff. It was great to see Jamie and his son on the battlefield and finally meeting up. It was great to remember the eps where he raised his boy and now to see him as a grown man is cool. I really am glad they added the Quakers and that they are having one interact with Ian as a native American.

How does he recognize Claire and even being told Jamie's name, not remember Jamie?
When Jamie was at Helwater he went by the name Mackenzie, not Fraser, in order to hide his true identity as Red Jamie. Willie knew him as Mac, even when he met him again at the cabin on Fraser’s Ridge years later.

Imo, this "season" was rushed and thrown together. Very simple things like and other *very obvious details* they couldn't be bothered to put in--like the audience wouldn't notice. And if it weren't for Rankin carrying that pairing, I couldn't watch those two at all.
Yeah, Roger is pretty cool but Bree is nothing like the character in the books. They needed a fiery curly haired red head. Spicey and whimsical. This character is not that.

Messing with the storyline again! Adult William seeing Jamies face for the first time in the books is a PIVOTAL moment as he recognises the same facial features a realises he is Jamies son. Haven't they learned by now that the fans hate it when they mess with the big details!
They have said with the darkness and minimal eye contact it really didn’t register with William. Dinna Fash-I am sure they won’t leave out that pivotal moment.

It’s funny. I’m a rabid fan of both the books and the show, and the changes sometimes surprise me, but almost always I find the adaptation engaging. I guess we fans are diverse and also passionate. I respect your dislike of the adaptation, as I hope you can give me and my fan group grace to have our fondness for the way the tv show tells the story. Lately, it sometimes startles me when fans (and this does *not* refer to you) express bitterness or a sense of some STARZ conspiracy against us by the way they’ve chosen to tell the story or to have a lengthy hiatus between the halves of S7. Even if STARZ’s decisions are based on commerce, that’s not personal to us. I can’t imagine not watching and rewatching “Outlander” to its end & beyond any more than I could picture myself tossing out all of my versions of DG’s books before the day I leave this earthly plane. I really love having both of the experiences to enjoy.

They announced in JANUARY that the season would be spilt into two parts because STARZ couldn't accomodate 16 weeks of Outlander in one go -- they had obligations to other shows. They did the same thing for Season 1 because that was also 16 episodes and STARZ had the same issue. Grow tf up. You're an adult and should know how to wait.

@bowtoyoursensei554 they said we would get 16 episodes then months later said they were breaking it up. And shortening it from 10 books that should be 10 seasons

Because of Amanda’s heart condition. The equipment from the past wouldn’t have helped her keep her stable like the 80’s . That’s why Bri Roger & Jemmy returned to their own time in the first place & why Bri has to be the one staying behind not only to keep her daughter safe but alive too
In the books, it is more obvious why she stays. They aren’t 100% sure where/when Jemmy is. She stays in case Jemmy isn’t in the past

So, ANOTHER Droughtlander. I've unenrolled and won't be back until 2024, or whenever it is that you plan on allowing us to watch the remaining episodes of Season 7. Really crappy of you, Starz! If I had a choice, I'd never reenroll.
As was the very same case for Season 1, STARZ cannot accomodate a 16 episode season in one go, because they have contractual obligations to other shows. They announced in January that this would be the case. If you are surprised, that's on you. The last 8 episodes are all completely filmed and in post-production; they are unaffected by actors' and writers' strikes and they episodes should be ready around early spring, according to Maril Davis.
@@bowtoyoursensei554Well yes I am surprised because they made it seem like it would be 16 back to back episodes prior to January. I can understand if they were planning to have 16 episodes back to back, but couldn't deliver because of things out of their control. But it appears they knew this would happen from the beginning? But lead people on to believing they would get a mega season of back to back 16 episodes. So why wouldn't people be surprised? I don't mind a short season. Just advertise it as such.
I'm rewatching the whole whopping 8 episodes. And then cancelling.
