The Adventures of Pinocchio - audiobook
Carlo COLLODI (1826 - 1890), translated by Carol Della CHIESA (1887 - 1972)
Do today's children still learn what a "marionette" is? The beloved story of Pinocchio may represent a last lingering picture of a world not dominated by plastic or electronic toys. Pinocchio is a puppet made from a piece of wood that curiously could talk even before being carved. A wooden-head he starts and a wooden-head he stays - until after years of misadventures caused by his laziness and failure to keep promises he finally learns to care about his family - and then he becomes a real boy. For those who have seen the Disney movie the cast of characters will be familiar, from the Talking Cricket (who acts as his conscience) to Lamp-Wick, his partner in truancy and having heedless fun. Though the toys of today are far from the puppet shows in Carlo Collodi's book, his themes of being truthful, thoughtful, and dependable will always be timely. (Summary by Mark)
Genre(s): Children's Fiction, Action & Adventure Fiction, Myths, Legends & Fairy Tales

Who’s here because of lies of p?
Yass 🎉
Yes!!!!!!!!!!
yup
Right here😅 🤚
Yep 😂
These Libravox Recordings are narrated by volunteers. This reader, Mark Smith. Does an excellent job of reading. A very entertaining listen.
I love the way he IS the characters and I'm only 1 minute in ! Such a delightful attempt at voice acting, I love it !
Jesus... Disney had lied to me...
Same ; - ;
And even ruined his character
Got rid of the fight scene and rushed his character development
Anyone watching this 2020
How did Disney lie to you?
It’s so sad when he smashed the little guy
the book deserves a fandom tbh. and im totally not just saying that cuz it’s my hyperfixation and this Pinocchio‘s my comfort character for whatever godforsaken reason
anyways if anyone likes this book as much as i do please bmf
i feel you!
@@AtomicVertigo_Comics YES
Watch Dimension20's Neverafter (D&D Dropout show) if you haven't already, this Pinocchio is a player character
I'm here listening to this book for the first time. I'm 75!
I did see the movie as a child... and it has influenced my life ...now I need to know the original.
I'll be your friend.
My 7 year old loves this audiobook as we ride in the car almost everyday. Thanks for uploading it.
look i know im a year late but your 7 year old has good taste
That's right, your 9 year old knows what's up
This story is effin crazy holy sheeet. When i saw lies of P i thought "Wow they turned this story real dark huh" but now i realize its always originally been dark lol
Pinocchio is a dark story
Pinocchio was a fuckin gangsta from the start.
fr lmao
Such a wonderful tale full of life lessons and adventure!
Amazing narrator!!!
Sarah Wilson ase hole
@@kristianlorenzo5411 rude!
And No rushed Character development
Funny Antonio vs. Gepetto fight scene
*Ah yes, this is "Wonderful"*
P
3:35 I thought that Mastro Antonio was the original Gepetto and I was mistaken
Or even about to make that log into a puppet
"I killed him, Gilbert!"
Lol!😅
He should have lightly cooked and ate the cricket, no sense in letting it go to waste.
I don't think eating crickets were thought about it during the old times of Europe
Not true cause in old Europe they used to pick wild fruits and eat insects
he probably didn’t out of guilt
*then again he did literally just kill his conscience..*
4:21:50 It’s really cute how for the last chapter, the narrator reads the Librevox part in his “Pinocchio voice”
I thought it was cute too.
Wtf did I just hear
A greedy story of a puppet and then was killed and then brought back to life🤥🤥🤥
Can we just all agree Lampwick's death is horrifying?
oh def
Isn't it?! D:
Fr it’s terrifying.
FACTS lol.
i love this fantasy. its so cool. i find it funny how he was just a piece of wood and started talking lol. no magic. just wood. and also how he gets hungry and can digest food. as i said, bro is just a piece of wood.
Ahh how i love ye olden times in which fondled and gay had different meanings
Nostalgia Critic wasn’t kidding “the book was freaking sadistic!”
Tou should check out the definition of sadism
The story is really dark.
I'm 26yrs old and I'm still listening to this audio book me and partner love it lol we always put it's on everynight before we go to sleep lol
excellent taste !! im very hyperfixated on this book. whoever’s reading it is doing a rlly great job.
Fantastic! When I was 26, I was reading Lev Tolstoy)))
Why am I listening to this at 7:11 pm at night before school even starts tomorrow? (Well in my place)
Me too-
Broken Logic same.
I always enjoy talking to my dinner. And I love Pinocchio telling the green fisher man that he's not a fish because he's talks, but so far Pinocchio has talked to crickets, dogs, cats, foxes, crows, owls, and I think moles.
I wish you got the pages of the book on the video as well...
SophiaDaSofa Hickox yeah he should’ve
Me too! I wanna see the pages ;-;
Look at the cover
On the UA-cam channel Lewis Kirk has audio ebooks

ok so that was waaaay much more grim that I expected... but I loved it. thanks for sharing. great reading!
By the way guys pinicchio actually got killed by getting hanged!but then survived it then put to jail. And also pinicchio killed jiminey cricket with a hammer
Doctor DOOM In the Original Pinocchi should die forever but the publisher from the magazine don't want this deep ending
Yes, and he bit off the cat's paw (if it was mentioned in the audiobook, I'm sorry, I just started it). Do you know where to find the Original Original?
Yeah so sad but I like it xD
Smashes in the head
With a hammer to die Cricket
This is dark. I might not sleep-
What a a nice book...so well read of the narrator as well. Thanks for the upload!
One of the most calming books of all time
Lmao
This was so creepy, Why does Pinocchio have to make all bad decisions? 👏🏼
The “Who goes there, Who goes there, Who goes there...?” Part was so creepy to me.🙅🏾♀️🤷🏽♀️
I’m lucky I didn’t watch this at night.
Pinocchio needs to run away back to home, And he needs to get his brothers and sisters.
OH SHOOT GET THE KNIFE AWAY FROM PINOCCHIO
Im watching this at night at 3 am xd
xD
@@tometomeygirl05 listening. Not watching
Only 90min in and so far this is a bit... darker and creepier than I was expecting.
2:16:43 “hunger is the best sauce” wise words indeed.
I just beat Lies of P and it made me wanna read this book but it's impossible to find it under 25€ so here I am, listening to it.
It's in the public domain
One of the best libravox narrators I've heard yet
Real eye opener here 👀🔓
Drawing a bath and can't wait for this listen
I grew up watching the Disney adaptation of the story.
Cool and much better than the book anyway.
@@birdie3rdie Oh no, not at all
@@abbfilmann3735 But the book is even worse.
@@birdie3rdie nah
@@birdie3rdiethe book is waaayyy better than the movie. It shows that you can’t make bad decisions in life. Disney does none of that

Lovely
Bedtime it is and another listen to Pinocchio I know the words of by heart now haha
This is so messed up
Straight away I feel that Lies of P took some artistic liberty
Wow I just realised Pinocchio was a demon possessed block of wood. There goes my childhood 😭
Did listen past chapter 2?
@@peterhamlet1415 yep and standing by my comment… demon possessed puppet, with serious FOMO
He was but he changed.
Born a devil but a boy can change.
@@JohnSmith-ox3gy yes, just like the book, boys have potential and with the right guidance can achieve great things 😊 I should clarify I still like the book, my first comment is a joke though true!
Does narrator Mark Smith have a Twitter handle? Love his voice(s).
1:10:17 - This is a book, written in the 1800s, yet it contains more common sense and better advice for readers than all the victims scammed by all the fake gurus and internet financial advisers. It suggests that young people had way more wisdom back then.
So dark for kids
Fun fact, the books are always darker than the movies and the books are more interesting and entertaining
@@brooklyntguy9298 No kidding I could never sit down and watch a movie for almost five hours, but this has so much going on.
It was intended for adults
@@Joshua-yl1rr No it wasn’t. The author referred to the people as “my little readers” or something like that. Children literally begged for him to continue the book after Pinocchio died. It was a childrens’ book, the times were just much different back then.
@@Joshua-yl1rr It’s a ye olde cautionary tale for children. A lot of stories like this existed to scare children from doing things that could hurt them. It was written in the 1880’s
Damn , this book has some deep lessons tho.
Can anyone fix some discrepancies for me? I heard "Pleasure Island" and "Dogfish" about the original Pinocchio, yet here its "Toyland" and "a Shark"
IE Was this originally in another language and translated? (Italian im guessing since Carlo is [itallian]) or was this a simplified version using easier to understand terms for children even younger than the intended audience? Are there multiple versions, and if so why?
I did NOT know that Pinocchio was an actual novel and place in Italy!!😲
4:18 he sang a gay song. XD
Gay originally meant happy
Gay means happy in this context
I'm learning english and this is so hilarous😂😆
so im not even halfway through and pinocchio was already murdered, made a slave, lost his limbs, did some killing himself, constantly belittling himself and had some inpropper interactions with people having power over him.
the fuck
Thanks to Disney making us a childhood
The original is horror not for kid
Sometime it say He was hanged by a tree
It is meant for children because it had meaning and lessons. Cartoons are merely entertainment
Crick crick crick
I like it
Lampwick's real name is Romeo?
If any of those kids disobeyed their parents & teachers, skipping schools and running away from home, eating, sleeping, playing & drinking from morning til night may end up in a hospital or in prison may grow up to become dangerous criminals or vicious psychopaths.
The Tunny sounds like Zap Branigan
Um am I the only one who actually heard these stories before watching the movie
A first scene in the original Pinocchio story is when Pinocchio had enough of the crickets lectures and smashed him against the wall with a wooden mallet. Then, a second scene in the original Pinocchio story is when Pinocchio fell asleep with his feet burning on the wooden stove and burnt both of his feet off. Because, RL Stine said that he was scared of the book partly inspired the Living Dummy books.
Prologue
I like RL Stine.
Day 1: Beat, torment, and frame and old man, and murder an ancient philosopher. Lol I read this when I was 7.
I used to fall asleep to this exact recording every night when i was around 6💀🙏
Why this story? You want nightmares?
@@DonOctavioSanchez Idk my mom played it for me😭

@@aashergilmore Nah my mom had this as an audio book and she'd play it for me
Disney needs to make a horror movie out of this
They apparently wont sadly especially because of kids
Disney is so not the right studio for that
@@TheBatmanvs1 And that's a bad thing how?
It’s public domain, so any studio could make a horror movie out of this.

Oh shit he done killed the cricket
Poor black bird, he tired his best.
27:17 Pinocchio afraid of thunder and lightning? Seriously? He's got it as a superpower, as he is a superhero in a crossover of mine, with Big Hero 6.
No
He's not really immortal
He's a puppet that can still die and starve like a mortal
Also he acts like a child too
The growing nose probably was curse by the fairy or the only body part that he could move until he got his own arms and legs
His made of wood

Killed an innocent cricket
Got hanged for not giving up his gold coins
Got turned into a dunkey and drowned in a lake while having a rock tied to his neck

This book is a modern day theological allegory. Geppetto Jupiter formed a man.... no man is not man until he becomes one through life and follows the virtues of god. We all have guardian angels , and good things comes to those who wait and are kind . Modern day psalms

It is good
I feel like this would have been such a good movie Disney did us dirty
There is an Italian version of the movie that came out in 2019, that is very faithful to the story. It is dub in English or you can watch in the original italin with subs.
