When I had a friend that was very very ill that when I started back to church made a promise if the Holy Father heal her I would go back to church that was the late ninety I am still going to church kept my promise she did get well
When I was away from the church for years and returned in 2019 and confessed all of those sins I felt a lightness that I’ve never felt before. I’ve been going regularly since then.
So sad for the seniors citizen can’t go to the church for confission, they could hardly walk straight to the church , like me I have to attend the the Livestream mass on line, God knows, that’s why there’s an on line mass in our place so that Seniors and other with health problems could Hear masses everyday through on line Mass😇🙏
You can phone your priest nearest to where you live and they will come to your place to do confession, they will also come to your place each week with the holy Eucharist
Call your parish. A priest will come to you and will help you. He will then arrange for communion to be brought to you at least once a month (usually weekly).
I heard Father Alar from the Divine Mercy spoke about people in your case. He said you could meditate on your sins and say an act of contrition. You also could request a visit from a Priest to give you Holy Communion and request a Confession for him to absolve your sins. But don’t forget to say the Act of Contrition as often as you need it’s very helpful God bless you!!
Just had a good confession done on Christmas Eve mass and New Year mass, and if we can make once a month its better, its not only confession its sometimes we can talk to our parish priest wat hardships were facing, they always have the time to listen to us,its up to us 🙏
I am 80 years old. Growing up, we had all the opportunities to go to confession anytime of the day due to the many churches in our city. Now however, it appears that the priests are hiding in their holes instead of attending to the public who want to confess. Churches now ask for appointments for confession or set 1/2 hour before or after mass. This is ridiculous. Our bishops are also sitting on their laurels and not correcting this problem. As a Catholic Filipino Canadian, I find this totally unacceptable and hope that our Catholic hierarchy fixes this problem immediately.
have you thought of the fact that lack of Priests or insufficient number of Priest in mostly western countries could be putting a lot of pressure in the available number of Priests? In Africa or my home country Nigeria, there is always room for Confession.
You are welcome to petition the bishop if you think they are not handling the situation correctly. Send him a letter, or talk to him in person about this. There is a chance he is unaware of the problem.
Once a month at St Anne they have anointing, priest says our sins are forgiven during this. Also. We can go directly to God and confess our sins daily. Sometimes priest aren't very interested . I am a practicing Catholic. I love God, and going to mass. I miss receiving the blood Christ. Thank you. 🙏
Confession is available every Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30pm...we have 2 priests hearing....during advent & lent there are always additional days when confessions are heard...our priests are always dressed in cleric garb...our office is manned 8 hrs after which our pastor answers the phone himself...our parish is in New Jersey
Nothing to worry about with going to confession. The priest has seen/heard it all before, so your sins are not new. Confession is a beautiful sacrament; dont let your ego keep you from going. It's Satan that's trying to keep you from going.
@@TboneWTFyou cannot prove Satan or God is real by quoting the bible. If that was a fact then there would be no atheists. We believe in God through divine and natural revelation which requires faith. That God told us Satan exists.
This is why Jesus went to the cross died and rose from the grave and veil was split in halve veil to the holy of holy . So we could go straight to God the Father in Jesus name and confess our sins to him or to praise or just to talk ! Thank you Jesus!
Jesus told Peter that he would build his Church on him and he gave him the keys to the Kingdom and told him that whatever he bound on earth would be bound in Heaven and what he loosed on earth would be loosed in Heaven. Therefore, you must go to a priest who has Apostolic succession for absolution. You can only find this in the Church that Jesus founded, the Catholic Church. For 1500 hundred years all Christians where Catholic. I didn’t make these rules, Jesus Christ did. Thank you Jesus for the Sacrament of confession.
Yes, Yes! 1 John 1:9, which states: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
@Victor...: Not exactly. We have always been able to go straight to the Father, just as Adam, Abraham and Moses did. In fact, Our Lord Jesus, taught His followers to pray the Lord's Prayer, starting 'Our Father...'. So the destruction of the Temple veil made no difference to the way that we approach God, it just signifies the end of the Old Covenant.
Confession as a child was the scariest thing I ever had to do. It was so traumatizing that I still dont go. Why it that other faiths don't have to go to Confession. If they don't but still seek Gods forgiveness, are their not forgiven. The last time I went was 32 years ago. I say my rosary every day and pray for God forgiveness everyday for my sins. Does this mean that my sins are not heard by God, and not forgiven because Im a Catholic. When I see all the people at mass receiving communion. Have they all been to confession. I think not. Yet they take communion anyway. It's that a sin?
I ask Our Lady to give you the grace to go to Confession. Believe me you need it, not that your sins are more than mine but in obidience to the Church of Jesus Christ. Obideince is the first law in Heaven.
@margaret...: Go to a priest that you know and ask to meet privately. Tell him exactly what you have written here, he's probably heard it before already. Relax, trust God.
Please... do discuss how to make a good confession - what is the best detailed guide? Indeed, busy (and often under staffed) Priests are NOT always available - or even always aware of how to give good counsel... and they certainly have no time to do so during the Sacrament... (lines are long and time is short)+ If an online guide does not exist, could you create a separate video to this purpose? Of one does exist could you please provide the link??🤔 Such help is needed because there is just as much danger in making frequent, but bad, confessions....evidenced by a (sometimes very observable) failure to grow in grace to overcome dangerous habits -- whether substance abuse addiction or an ungracious demeanor. Thank you!❤
We know that saints cherished the sacrament of confession and received it very regularly. What is the problem one has when they examine their conscience and cannot find sins to confess? How to overcome this situation?
An older British priest frightened me in confession after my many years absence, as he flipped pages in his book & glared @ me over his glasses in a small room. I tried to discuss forgiveness…He took it personally & asked me if I was making accusations against him. I will never return to confession. I expressed simply miscommunication, no personal inte & fled.
Jesus Christ shed his blood on the Cross for our redemption and for the forgiveness of sins, Ephesians 1 7. We are forgiven because this was accomplished at Calvary 2000 years ago. Believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the 3rd day by which we are saved, 1 Corinthians 15 1-4. You will then be sealed with the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1 13-14 who will change your heart, 1 Corinthians 6 9-11.
It takes a village to raise a child but it only takes one child to raze a village. I had a scary, stern priest back as a teen and haven't been back in almost 40 years.
@@antainrhys Believe the Saving Gospel that Jesus Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the 3rd day by which we are saved, 1 Corinthians 15 1-4.
I confess directly to God, He grants grace and blessings. I trust in God’s Mercy but I don’t think only priests can dispense it, after all it is His mercy. You can have a relationship with God it is up to you to reach out to Him. How many people go to confession thinking all is forgiven and commit the same thing again, like a revolving door? Today’s church is not the one I grew up in.
@@drstewart what language was the original books written and who translated them? And how many translations until it got to English? Not trying to defend her, but It's easy to get trapped by shame when everybody else goes up for communion any you're sitting there all alone. You feel like you are the only sinner there, even though that's not true. I know this because I experienced it. Started going far away to churches where nobody knew me.
So does the church but Jesus said confess your sins to one another and then breathed on the apostles and told them whoever's sins they forgive will be forgiven. Priests are the continuation of this.
Yes you are correct. 1 John 1:9, which states: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I do NOT need to know from Google what the Catholic Church rules are or are not. I am Catholic and believe in FREE WILL I know how to go to a Priest that I know for information I MAY QUESTION.
I’m not Catholic, I’m Lutheran. And you don’t have to go to confession for your sins to be forgiven. Just pray as you would and they are forgiven. What happens to someone if they don’t ever go? My wife has been once in her 50 year life 26 years ago. Is she going to hell ? I don’t think so.
I know a friend who manages her husband's bar and goes to Catholic church in my town and never goes to confession because she does not believe in the priest forgiving sins.
Jesus was Baptizing , but never gave the sacrament of confession. The same with the Apostles . " whose sins you forgive ..... whose sins you do not forgive .... . " Jesus has explained the meaning of this. And it is not the Sacrament of confession made by the Church. He said to the paralyzed " Your sins are forgiven "; Did the paralyzed make a confession ? But Jesus knows the man's sins. The same way HE knows our sins also .
After so many years without confession and not pertaking Eucharist , the daily rosary led me nack to the sacraments. Opportunities began to open in my life.
I would love to be able to go to Confession. Unfortunately now it's like trying to get an appointment with a doctor. You have to phone the Church office.....when or if they're ever open. Then if you can speak to someone they will only inform you to phone back later, or.... "someone" will call you back. They never do. Confession is by specific appointment only. You are made to feel that you are being an unreasonable nuisance if you want this "service". Like most of the Sacrements they've all but disappeared. Holy Communion? Thrust into your hand while you keep moving like on a conveyor belt, by a lay person who probably hasn't been to confession for years either and is attending Mass with his/her "partner". Dying? A "minister" (what?) will/might come and say a prayer with you, but if you've got your eyes closed ( er..you're dying) then they'll immediately leave so that you can get some "rest". How rare it is to ever see a Priest in these times. You wouldn't know even if you did because they all wear lay clothing now. I seriously ask, are there any REAL Priests left today? Ones who actually still believe in the Catholic faith? And ALL its teachings?
❤No problem here thank God, Confession 30 mins before Latin Mass in cubicle, remaining anonymous. Novus Ordo, Confession after Sat Mass or by appt. I went after 40 years and the unburdening was wonderful. I phoned a parish I didn't know and the Priest was there and said can you come now and I did and that was 4 years ago. Pray much and God will provide all you need, I truly believe.❤🙏The daily Holy Rosary for Religous Clergy and Jesus Christ's Holy Vicar on earth is what the Virgin Mary warned must be done or Satan would enter the Church from the Hierarchy down and many people would be led to perdition by the Wolves in Sheep's clothing.❤
@@vievee2000 I'm in the UK. I'm guessing that you might be in America? I would absolutely love to be able to get to a Latin Mass. You are so lucky. Might I request that next time that you are there you would say a prayer for those of us who feel starved of our proper Catholic faith. Thank you.
I'm very fortunate. There are 4 churches around me where there are priests to hear confessions. They coordinate so there are confessions scheduled for 5 days a week. The line could get long, but we all get in eventually. I was away from church for over 15 years. I just recently started going back to mass and God put it on my heart (read that: every time I got on you tube there were numerous podcasts about going to confession!) So, I went, spilled my guts about all the things I could remember from the years of sinning, did my penance and I walked out of church feeling lighter than air! I'm so glad that God used you tube to talk to me!!!!
I have seen these changes, and it makes me sad. In my Parish our 2 Priests, 1 elderly the other has a language problem. Both are wonderful but the shortage of Priests has greatly affected the USA and the dear Priests who do serve are overwhelmed with the amount of parishioners. Pray for more Priests and pray for the ones we have. 🙏🙏🙏📿

You should see your Dr asap about your health issues. Your prostate and bladder issues need an operation. Its very common among older men to find it difficult to urinate. The prostate gland is swollen and pressing against the bladder. An operation will solve it.
I hadn’t gone to confession in over 30 years. I had a tugging at my heart for a long time to go. I started searching on line and there is so many great suggestions on how to examine your conscience. I realized how sinful my life has been. I called a local priest and made an appointment for a face to face confession. It was so wonderful and freeing! I’ve been back twice over the next month. Take that first step and allow Jesus to heal you!
Romans 5:1 KJV Therefore being JUSTIFIED by FAITH we have PEACE with GOD through our LORD JESUS CHRIST 2 By Whom also we have access by FAITH into this GRACE wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the GLORY of GOD. 5 And hope makes not ashamed because the LOVE of GOD is shed abroad in our hearts by the HOLY GHOST which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength in due time CHRIST died for the ungodly. 8 But GOD commends HIS LOVE toward us in that while we were yet sinners CHRIST died for us. 9 Much more then being now JUSTIFIED by HIS BLOOD, we shall be SAVED from wrath through HIM.
I went to confession over 8 years ago and mentioned that I was married but not by the church the priest told me he basically couldn’t do nothing for me. I sobbed like a newborn baby and haven’t received confession or the Eucharist since. I almost stopped and never went back to church, but I have remained faithful. It hurts me to the core of my soul that I cannot receive either. See my husband was married in the church and divorced, he did do an annulment but was denied. So now we receive nothing! It angers me, it hurts me ect.
Not surprised with that priest's reaction. They are indeed bad, very bad apples. I would rather die than to go to a priest for confession or advice. They prey on the "sinners" and the vulnerable.
With all due respect you went to confession to confess something that you weren't prepared to change. I assume you are married by civil authorities and not a church? If this is the case you cannot confess sorrow for something you aren't prepared to change. You have remained faithful which is the right thing to do but ask yourself this question, what would happen to that priest's soul if he abandoned his priestly duties to appease your feelings? Also is your parish/ diocese there will probably be an organisation for separated and divorced catholics. Maybe ask them for advice.
Many years ago I recognized the uselessness of this sacrament. If God is everywhere, why do I have to confess to another human? Can't I just dial up the almighty on my own? Geez.. The catholic Church leadership should show some basic decency and take accountability for the many crimes that the Catholic Church has covered up for years. 😊
Please explain how it is that God is ready to forgive, but our Priests are not... In these comments people share their experiences...how can it be that someone who was not married in the church, is unworthy to receive the body and blood of their saviour Jesus Christ? (Where is that written in the Bible?) Just about every Sunday my priest complains that people need to attend confession....pretty hard to do, when the confessional is only open for an hour in the middle of the day. He points out that church attendance has dropped.. .perhaps if the Church made itself more acceptable, more people would return.
No need for a Priest to forgive for only the Lord can. 1 John 1:9, which states: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." In the name of Jesus!
First it MUST NOT be written in the Bible for it to be the Truth. The Catholic Church depends on the Bible, Tradition and the Magisterium which is the Teaching Authority of the Church. Christ promised that His Holy Spirit will be with the Church until the end of time. The book of John said that if everything Christ did was written down, all the books in the world will not be able to contain them. So again it MUST NOT be in the Bible for it to be the Truth. The Holy Spirit reveals New Things through the Teaching Authority of the Church. It is the Church's teaching that anyone who is not married in the Church is not worthy to receive Holy Communion. I think the solution should be for the person to pray and strive to regularise their marriage instead of questioning the Teaching Authority of the Church.
You need to go to confession to wipe your sins completely. You can ask for Gods forgiveness and he will forgive you without going to confession but you will have to pay for it when you die before you get to heaven, and that is where purgatory comes in. If You can’t get to confession because of your health or age, Then you can ring A priest, and he will come to your home to hear your confession, you can also arrange if you can’t get to mass Because of your health, for the priest to bring the holy Eucharist to you each week, remember you will need to listen to mass online on Saturday or Sunday each week.
You, evil soul, should be going to purgatory for scaring people that way! How dare you?! All you have to do is confess your actions to God and not repeat them! You have to forgive yourself too, that's what God needs you to do. Stop telling people lies.
@ " You can ask for Gods forgiveness and he will forgive you " LOL. My friend you'd first have to prove your god is real before I believe anything you might say about him. Good luck.
@@janemathenge3696 @"Everyone goes to purgatory....even saints." LOL. Are you sure about that? What is your evidence that demonstrates your claim is true? Good luck.
You DO need a priest for confession. Just like God works through priest to turn the bread and wine into his body and blood, God works through priest to forgive sins. God has NOT said that you can do it without a priest. If you believe that you don't need a priest, then it is not God you are trusting in, but yourself.
Tried to get a priest from my church to come to my home as I could not get out I needed him to hear my confession. He said he called me a couple of times and I said no you didn’t sir because my phone would have wrong and it did not he said well I left messages I said no you didn’t sir because I don’t have any messages from you or the church
John Chapter 20 : Verses 19 thru 23. Confession is scriptural. It's the PRIESTLY OFFICE that matters. Why did Jesus say. In John 20 : verses 19 thru 23, if He didn't intend for us to confess our sins to the priest. The office of Priesthood, Carry's with it the "Authority" to Transform bread and wine into Flesh and blood, and also the authority to forgive sins. Nowhere in scripture does it say go directly to God.
There are many places in the Bible where it says confess your sins to God and seek His forgiveness. On the contrary, no verse says go to a priest for the forgiveness of your sins. It is God who forgives our sins, not a priest!
Nowadays, it's hard to get confession in your local parish especially on the days of holy obligation like weekend mass, before or after. Most Priests now are too busy with their own lives, like !medical studies etc or have to be out or catch a flight - living the life lol or just don't want to give confession because they don't feel like. Before, when I was younger, every Saturday before mass the priest would be in the confessional booth sitting, waiting for anyone, most times there would already be a line, and if Mass is about to begin, he would tell you after Mass you can come back for confession.... I miss and loved those times when we took JESUS CHRIST seriously in the Roman Catholic church. Now, priest don't even speak about hell and how serious and easy it is to get there 😢 MAY GOD JESUS CHRIST HOLY SPIRIT, bring us all back to HIM, AMEN
You are correct. We were offered confession before Christmas this year. On aWEDNESDAY between 4:30 and 6pm. I was working in another town that day as were many others I am sure.
@irish-u6p well that is very good. GOD BLESS. I'd add, we do get confession, but with some of the priests, you feel as though you are begging and annoying them, and that can scare people away, but I try not to let that deter me from asking when I need it or I let my siblings ask for me 😁
Just walk up to them before mass and ask for confession. Try and go to mass early so as not to cause them an issue. They will give you confession there and then.
Confession is indeed necessary. It is like taking your car to a carwash regularly. The carwash dealer has equipment to reach those areas of your car that would be impossible to reach on your own at home. Inbox me for more on this. Thanks for sharing
When you confess your sins to a Catholic priest, and ask you to say 3 Our Father and 3 Hail Mary, do you honestly think your sins are forgiven? I would bet that person will do the same sins again. Why not...all he/she has to do is go to confession and his/her sins will be forgiven by the priest. To me, I would pray directly to God and will tell Him that I will try not to do the same thing again.
I remember going. Nothing about me or around me changed. The last time I went was last march because of lent. I don’t think I’ll be going this year at all.
You have no idea who you're telling your sins to if you go to a priest, especially 6:34 if you're a woman - you're a sinner if you're born a woman, no matter what you do, according to them.
Jesus gave the Apostles the right to forgive sins but who says this right was also given to priests??? It is better to use 11 Chronicles 7-12 and pray directly to Almighty God directly for the forgiveness of sins ie Turn from your wicked ways, seek God's face, humble yourself and beg forgiveness directly from God Almighty!!! Then He will hear your voice from Heaven, heal the land and forgive your sins directly!!!
Try finding another priest… who may be able to help you. We’re all hypocrites and selfish - gosh that’s why we’re in the line up for confession!!! I might also add - say to the priest that you’ve had bad experiences in confession before … can you guide and help me to be better confession?
I confess my feelings each night in my personal prayers directly to God ! Perhaps the most significant people that represent their perspective denominations should practice what they preach and maybe the flock may come home ! Otherwise go straight to the top And side sweep the middlemen ! Amen !
Yes! 1 John 1:9, which states: "If we confess our sins, He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
God works through his priest. And he has given these priest the power to nullify sins. Just in the same way priest hands have been consecrated to turn the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus. Only priest have been given the power by God to do that, not you. And they are necessary for confession.
Does true Christians "go to confession" ? Where in the Bible has anyone "gone to confession" ? There is NOT one time that a Christian or anyone "been to confession" before a "priest", for even when the the Israelites sinned, they were to go to the Levitical priests under the Mosaic Law and NOT "make confession", but bring a sin offering, such as a young bull to them, in order to receive forgiveness.(Lev 4) For example, when the nation of Israel sinned against God, as in worshipping false gods through idols (Judges 2:7; 8:27, 33, 34, which Catholicism is filled with, from statues and pictures of "Jesus", "Mary", angels, "saints", to wearing the cross, to using the rosary), God sent his prophets to expose their sins. The account says that "Jehovah (God's name, see Ex 6:3, KJV) sent all his servants the prophets" to tell them to "turn back, please, each of you from your evil ways and your evil deeds......Do not follow other gods and serve them and bow down to them (such as kissing the right foot of "Peter" in his basilica, making a god out of the Shroud of Turin that is NOT Jesus "imprint")," "offending me with the work of their hands (or their false gods, refusing to "stop worshipping the demons and the idols of gold and silver and copper and stone and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk", Rev 9:20)."(Jer 25:4-6) When Achan wrongly took some items from Jericho when the city was being destroyed (Joshua 7:11), upon Joshua finding out this out, told Achan: "My son, please, honor Jehovah the God of Israel and make confession to him. Tell me, please, what you have done. Do not hide it from me.”(Joshua 7:19) When David sinned with regard to Bathsheba, having committed sexual immorality (2 Sam 11:2-5), he did not go the Levitical priests, but rather he admitted his sin to the prophet Nathan, who had exposed David as guilty (2 Sam 12:1-12), with David saying: "I have sinned against Jehovah."(2 Sam 12:13) David then later wrote Psalms 51, whereby he "makes confession" to Jehovah and not a "priest": "Show me favor, O God, according to your loyal love. Blot out my transgressions according to your great mercy. Thoroughly wash me from my error, and cleanse me from my sin." "For I am well-aware of my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you-you above all-I have sinned; What is bad in your eyes I have done. Therefore, you are righteous when you speak, you are right in your judgment."(Ps 51:1-4) At 2 Chronicles 30, when Hezekiah wanted to observe the Passover, along with the Festival of Unleavened Bread (that had not been observed for at least more than a decade, due to his apostate father Ahaz, 2 Kings 16:1-4), and "a great number of the people......had not cleansed themselves (ceremonially)......Hezekiah prayed for them, saying: "May Jehovah, who is good, make allowance for everyone who has prepared his heart to SEARCH for the true God, Jehovah, the God of his forefathers, although he has not been purified according to the standards of holiness". And Jehovah listened to Hezekiah and pardoned (or forgave) the people."(2 Chron 30:1-5, 18-20) At James 5, James wrote: "Is there anyone (spiritually) sick among you ? Let him call the elders (and NOT "priests", for there is no priests on the earth, but only the 144,001 "chosen ones" becomes kings/priests upon their resurrection as immortal spirit "sons of God", Ex 19:5, 6; Rev 5:9, 10) of the congregation to him, and let them pray over him (and NOT "make confession"), (symbolically) applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah."(see Mark 6:13) "And the prayer of faith (and NOT "confession") will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, openly confess your sins to one another (and NOT "make confession" before a "priest", see Prov 28:13, willing to admit a mistake) and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. A righteous man’s supplication has a powerful effect."(James 5:14-16)
@timhaley3459 There is no mention of confessing sins directly to God in the New Testament. There is only an instruction to confess sins to one another. So that is what the Catholic Church does.
@@madelineveggie3931 James 5:14, 15 says: "Is there anyone (spiritually) sick among you ? Let him call the elders of the congregation to him (in which there is a body of elders (Greek presbyteros), overseers (Greek episkopos), and NOT priests in the Christian congregation, see 1 Tim 3:1-7), and let them PRAY over him (and NOT "make confession" as being a Christian teaching, symbolically) applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah (God's name)." "And the prayer of faith (and NOT "making confession") will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven (for having done as Peter told the Jews: "Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get your sins blotted out, so that seasons of refreshing may come from Jehovah himself and he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus", Acts 3:19, 20) When the nation of Israel rebelled against Jehovah by creating the golden calf about three months after being freed from Egyptian slavery, Jehovah's representative angel told Moses to "go, descend, because your people, whom you led up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have quickly deviated from the way I commanded them to go." "They have made for themselves a statue of a calf, and they keep bowing down to it and sacrificing to it and saying, ‘This is your God, O Israel, who led you up out of the land of Egypt........I have seen that this is an obstinate people. So now let me be, and I will exterminate them in my burning anger, and let me make a great nation from you instead.”(Ex 32:7-10) Moses, as the nation of Israel's mediator, as their "intercessor" (see Num 21:7), then pleaded with Jehovah's representative angel not to destroy them (Ex 32:11-14), and not to Aaron, who was soon to be the high priest.(Ex 28:1-5; 40:12, 13) At Ezra 9, because the nation of Israel had "not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands and their detestable practices, those of the Caʹnaan·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Jebʹu·sites, the Amʹmon·ites, the Moʹab·ites, the Egyptians, and the Amʹor·ites. They have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons. Now they, the holy offspring, have become mingled with the peoples of the lands", Ezra ripped his garments apart and even pulled out some of his hair, feeling humiliation. Ezra now says that he "got down on my knees and spread out my hands to Jehovah my God. And I said: “O my God, I feel ashamed and embarrassed to raise my face to you, O my God, for our errors have multiplied over our heads and our guilt has mounted up to the heavens........break(ing) your commandments again and form(ing) marriage alliances with the peoples who practice these detestable things."(Ezra 9:1-6, 14) Ezra 10:1 says that he then prayed and made confession, "weeping and lying prostrate before the house of the true God." Thus, there is NO "making confession" before a Catholic priest, but a TRUE Christian who is spiritually "sick", does as James 5 says in going to the "elders" for help and prays with him for Jehovah's forgiveness (and accepting whatever discipline is needed, see Jer 30:11; 46:28). He (or she) does as David did after his sin with Bathsheba, being genuinely repentant and goes to Jehovah God in prayer, asking for his forgiveness (Ps 51:1, 2), for Jehovah to "create in me a pure heart......and put within me a new spirit (or dominant mental attitude), a steadfast one" that avoids doing wrong.(Ps 51:10; see Ps 101:1-4)
Its a waste of time all they're interested in is your money. I went to a catholic funeral of a neighbor and they took up collection twice at that funeral.
Which country are you from? What was the second collection for? Remeber there has to be an offertory at every Mass, and am sure the second collection will have a purpose, probably for Mass offerings for the dead.

@MissraLacharp Don't worry about these other 2 comments. What you said about confessing your sins to God. It is biblical and you can do it day or night 🌙 , anytime. I'm glad you ask for guidance, too. It is also good to ask God for Wisdom, too. Just an added point. Love ❤️ you all...
@@James-ey2jc Not Biblical, we don't get to ignore verses that contradict your made up doctrine, sorry. The power of loosing and retaining sins was given to men for a reason. There is no verse where God says "Confess your sins to Me that I may forgive them." Lies.

@donaldakosior9840 Gee, Donald I am sorry you feel that way. I have 2 things to say. 1. I have been going to confession for 68 years and have yet to encounter a priest who is too busy to hear my confession. 2. It is obvious to me that you have never received a full and proper education about the sacrament. You go to a confessional in church on a Saturday afternoon and say to the priest. " I need to learn about confession. I am sure I don't know enough. I will go to confession later well maybe." I went to confession myself today, and the sense of relief afterwards was priceless. ❤
God said in 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." A true born again Christian does not need to confess his sins to a mortal man to gain forgiveness from God. Because Jesus died and rose again to save us to the uttermost, any true believer in Christ. God said this in Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."
Not Biblical. The freestyle fundies ignore whatever Scripture they like. Nowhere does it say "Confess your sins to Me that I may forgive them." You have a chapter and verse for that? That's some of that Prot doctrine based on verses that aren't there. The Bible says to confess sins to one another, meaning mortal men. Which mortal men? The ones Jesus explicitly gave the ability to bind and loose sins. It's only among the pseudo "Bible believer" sects that they think they are free to ignore the rest of Scripture. Also, intercession among men (both on earth and in heaven) is specified in the Bible. Yes, we are supposed to intercede for one another, and that doesn't stop with mortal death. All quite Biblical except to the "truly born again" verse throwers.
The verse you quoted indeed speaks of mortal men. John is saying to confess TO EACH OTHER not just to God. It doesn't specifically say to go to a priest.
@@drstewart Speed reading my post? 1 John 1:9 and Hebrews 7:25 KJV. Look them up. Christians do NOT need a priest to intercede for us sinners to ask for forgiveness from God. Jesus Christ is the only intercessor between God and man. Because His blood covers a multitude of sins (1 John 1:7). In Romans 8:34 God says "Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, WHO also MAKETH INTERCESSION for US." The priesthood of men was done away with under the New Covenant (i.e. New Testament). Because Jesus is our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16). Also Hebrews 9:24 "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God FOR US." Now I'll challenge your theology. Show me, chapter and verse, in the New Testament where it is necessary for a mortal human "priest" to hear your confession of your sins to be forgiven of a offended God.
I have been a Christian all my life i pray every day and do mass .i do not believe in telling a preist my sins .our heavenly father knows your sins even before you do it .just ask god for your forgiveness .he and she forgives you ❤ is key to life .just be good and take care of each other amen
Nowadays, confession seems to be 'out of fashion'. Catholics, i met spread all kinds of unkind rumours about neighbours they hate. Even go to the extend of saying 'person is dying because no money'. Didnt even bother to offer any help to oldies who cant go & buy grocery. Very amused about the whole thing. Really very bad advertisement for the Catholic church.
My Catholic experience was absolutely disgraceful! Didn't the Bible say in Corinthians "never deny marriage"? Is this the reason there is a problem with priests?
I assume you weren't married in the church? God doesn't care about a peace of paper from a lawyer. If not married in the church then you aren't married in God's eyes.
Confess your sins to God and He'll forgive you. Don't go tell your sins to priests as they're judgmental, dirty and have absolutely no understanding of human behavior. God is everywhere, it is between you and Him.
Priests play God and they do not know a man's heart! You have God with you all the time and you can ask for forgiveness! Too many believe they need to pay money to the church with is ridiculous!
I confess to God directly for my sins and dont need priests who makes sermons on the confession done by people to them. No mediators required if u have the real faith and trust in god. This is my opinion not to for arguments.
You dont need a Father to hear your confession you can go right to the Holy Father and tell him your sin and ask you forgiveness When you say the Lord prayers will say forgive us our sins dont need the Priest for your sin just go to the Holy Father
Why have a confession ritual at all, isn't a confession between the sinner and the invisible guy in the sky, if the Skydaddy is all knowing then he would know that you transgressed before your confession so why not just say to him " Sorry for all the sins I've committed today Jesus, I'll talk to you again same time tomorrow", Wouldn't this do?
@@carolpountney7627 If the Skydaddy loves us all then why is he going to send 99.99% of humanity to Hell where we'll burn and writhe in agony for eternity? this includes you and me. Some loving father.
In the Bible it says the only way to the Father is through me! No priest can forgive you your sins. You do not need an intercessor. Jesus died for our sins. You confess your sins to the father and sin no more. You will be forgiven. Paul killed Christians and god forgave him! No one church has the power to take away your sins. Read John in the Bible.
Why would you go to confession with someone who probably sins more than you?...just to directly to God & repent for your sins...pray to God to whip your sins clean. That's all you have to do and he is righteous and just to forgive. God Bless All & I ❤ you!!!
Everyone even the sitting Popes go to Confession. 'Probably' is not a word you use when it pertains to your salvation. Don't judge. You have to idea if a saint is on the other side of the confessional. As a Catholic we strive for holiness. Confession is the way to imitate Christ's holiness. The Holy Spirit will guide everyone who prays for discernment. I will pray for you for sure. Not probably. ❤

But don’t forget to say the Act of Contrition as often as you need it’s very helpful

I confess every single time I pray . GOD can read my mind & HE knows everything . Seeing the default of priests turn people away .

Not exactly.

Why does a respectful, empathetic and honest person need confession?
Please... do discuss how to make a good confession - what is the best detailed guide? Indeed, busy (and often under staffed) Priests are NOT always available - or even always aware of how to give good counsel... and they certainly have no time to do so during the Sacrament... (lines are long and time is short)+
If an online guide does not exist, could you create a separate video to this purpose? Of one does exist could you please provide the link??🤔
Such help is needed because there is just as much danger in making frequent, but bad, confessions....evidenced by a (sometimes very observable) failure to grow in grace to overcome dangerous habits -- whether substance abuse addiction or an ungracious demeanor.

I’m not Catholic, I’m Lutheran. And you don’t have to go to confession for your sins to be forgiven. Just pray as you would and they are forgiven. What happens to someone if they don’t ever go? My wife has been once in her 50 year life 26 years ago. Is she going to hell ? I don’t think so.

I know a friend who manages her husband's bar and goes to Catholic church in my town and never goes to confession because she does not believe in the priest forgiving sins.
Ya and it did come into practice until 13/14 century

Stopping sacraments for the sake of a priest is not right instead pray for him and do sacraments with another priest
My cousin had a child out of wedlock and has been shunned by her brother, the priest.
The Episcopal church also has confession
Please explain how it is that God is ready to forgive, but our Priests are not...
In these comments people share their experiences...how can it be that someone who was not married in the church, is unworthy to receive the body and blood of their saviour Jesus Christ?
(Where is that written in the Bible?)
Just about every Sunday my priest complains that people need to attend confession....pretty hard to do, when the confessional is only open for an hour in the middle of the day.
He points out that church attendance has dropped.. .perhaps if the Church made itself more acceptable, more people would return.
No need for a Priest to forgive for only the Lord can.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

You can ask for Gods forgiveness and he will forgive you without going to confession but you will have to pay for it when you die before you get to heaven, and that is where purgatory comes in. If You can’t get to confession because of your health or age, Then you can ring A priest, and he will come to your home to hear your confession, you can also arrange if you can’t get to mass Because of your health, for the priest to bring the holy Eucharist to you each week, remember you will need to listen to mass online on Saturday or Sunday each week.
it's only a sin if you believe in god. otherwise it's just a mistake.
You, evil soul, should be going to purgatory for scaring people that way! How dare you?! All you have to do is confess your actions to God and not repeat them! You have to forgive yourself too, that's what God needs you to do. Stop telling people lies.
Everyone goes to purgatory....even saints.

Why do I have to confess to a priest??? I confess to God ,Jesus, and Mother Mary!!
Yes you have to confess to a Priest who is Christ's representative. So says the Catholic Church that you are a member of.
We can only have faith and pray
You are correct. We were offered confession before Christmas this year. On aWEDNESDAY between 4:30 and 6pm. I was working in another town that day as were many others I am sure.
@irish-u6p well that is very good. GOD BLESS. I'd add, we do get confession, but with some of the priests, you feel as though you are begging and annoying them, and that can scare people away, but I try not to let that deter me from asking when I need it or I let my siblings ask for me 😁
@@lonsp.t3568 it is NOT very good. 90 minutes for the ENTIRE congregation on a weekday afternoon? How is that good?
Just walk up to them before mass and ask for confession. Try and go to mass early so as not to cause them an issue. They will give you confession there and then.
Confession is indeed necessary. It is like taking your car to a carwash regularly. The carwash dealer has equipment to reach those areas of your car that would be impossible to reach on your own at home. Inbox me for more on this. Thanks for sharing

Does true Christians "go to confession" ? Where in the Bible has anyone "gone to confession" ? There is NOT one time that a Christian or anyone "been to confession" before a "priest", for even when the the Israelites sinned, they were to go to the Levitical priests under the Mosaic Law and NOT "make confession", but bring a sin offering, such as a young bull to them, in order to receive forgiveness.(Lev 4)
For example, when the nation of Israel sinned against God, as in worshipping false gods through idols (Judges 2:7; 8:27, 33, 34, which Catholicism is filled with, from statues and pictures of "Jesus", "Mary", angels, "saints", to wearing the cross, to using the rosary), God sent his prophets to expose their sins.
The account says that "Jehovah (God's name, see Ex 6:3, KJV) sent all his servants the prophets" to tell them to "turn back, please, each of you from your evil ways and your evil deeds......Do not follow other gods and serve them and bow down to them (such as kissing the right foot of "Peter" in his basilica, making a god out of the Shroud of Turin that is NOT Jesus "imprint"),"
"offending me with the work of their hands (or their false gods, refusing to "stop worshipping the demons and the idols of gold and silver and copper and stone and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk", Rev 9:20)."(Jer 25:4-6)
When Achan wrongly took some items from Jericho when the city was being destroyed (Joshua 7:11), upon Joshua finding out this out, told Achan: "My son, please, honor Jehovah the God of Israel and make confession to him. Tell me, please, what you have done. Do not hide it from me.”(Joshua 7:19)
When David sinned with regard to Bathsheba, having committed sexual immorality (2 Sam 11:2-5), he did not go the Levitical priests, but rather he admitted his sin to the prophet Nathan, who had exposed David as guilty (2 Sam 12:1-12), with David saying: "I have sinned against Jehovah."(2 Sam 12:13)
David then later wrote Psalms 51, whereby he "makes confession" to Jehovah and not a "priest": "Show me favor, O God, according to your loyal love. Blot out my transgressions according to your great mercy. Thoroughly wash me from my error, and cleanse me from my sin."
"For I am well-aware of my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you-you above all-I have sinned; What is bad in your eyes I have done. Therefore, you are righteous when you speak, you are right in your judgment."(Ps 51:1-4)
At 2 Chronicles 30, when Hezekiah wanted to observe the Passover, along with the Festival of Unleavened Bread (that had not been observed for at least more than a decade, due to his apostate father Ahaz, 2 Kings 16:1-4), and "a great number of the people......had not cleansed themselves (ceremonially)......Hezekiah prayed for them, saying:
"May Jehovah, who is good, make allowance for everyone who has prepared his heart to SEARCH for the true God, Jehovah, the God of his forefathers, although he has not been purified according to the standards of holiness". And Jehovah listened to Hezekiah and pardoned (or forgave) the people."(2 Chron 30:1-5, 18-20)
At James 5, James wrote: "Is there anyone (spiritually) sick among you ? Let him call the elders (and NOT "priests", for there is no priests on the earth, but only the 144,001 "chosen ones" becomes kings/priests upon their resurrection as immortal spirit "sons of God", Ex 19:5, 6; Rev 5:9, 10) of the congregation to him, and let them pray over him (and NOT "make confession"), (symbolically) applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah."(see Mark 6:13)
"And the prayer of faith (and NOT "confession") will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up.

Confession of sin is very much covered in the bible

James 5:14, 15 says: "Is there anyone (spiritually) sick among you ? Let him call the elders of the congregation to him (in which there is a body of elders (Greek presbyteros), overseers (Greek episkopos), and NOT priests in the Christian congregation, see 1 Tim 3:1-7), and let them PRAY over him (and NOT "make confession" as being a Christian teaching, symbolically) applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah (God's name)."
"And the prayer of faith (and NOT "making confession") will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven (for having done as Peter told the Jews: "Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get your sins blotted out, so that seasons of refreshing may come from Jehovah himself and he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus", Acts 3:19, 20)
When the nation of Israel rebelled against Jehovah by creating the golden calf about three months after being freed from Egyptian slavery, Jehovah's representative angel told Moses to "go, descend, because your people, whom you led up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. They have quickly deviated from the way I commanded them to go."
"They have made for themselves a statue of a calf, and they keep bowing down to it and sacrificing to it and saying, ‘This is your God, O Israel, who led you up out of the land of Egypt........I have seen that this is an obstinate people. So now let me be, and I will exterminate them in my burning anger, and let me make a great nation from you instead.”(Ex 32:7-10)
Moses, as the nation of Israel's mediator, as their "intercessor" (see Num 21:7), then pleaded with Jehovah's representative angel not to destroy them (Ex 32:11-14), and not to Aaron, who was soon to be the high priest.(Ex 28:1-5; 40:12, 13)
At Ezra 9, because the nation of Israel had "not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands and their detestable practices, those of the Caʹnaan·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Jebʹu·sites, the Amʹmon·ites, the Moʹab·ites, the Egyptians, and the Amʹor·ites.
And I said: “O my God, I feel ashamed and embarrassed to raise my face to you, O my God, for our errors have multiplied over our heads and our guilt has mounted up to the heavens........break(ing) your commandments again and form(ing) marriage alliances with the peoples who practice these detestable things."(Ezra 9:1-6, 14)
Ezra 10:1 says that he then prayed and made confession, "weeping and lying prostrate before the house of the true God." Thus, there is NO "making confession" before a Catholic priest, but a TRUE Christian who is spiritually "sick", does as James 5 says in going to the "elders" for help and prays with him for Jehovah's forgiveness (and accepting whatever discipline is needed, see Jer 30:11; 46:28).

No, I haven’t been for years, I confess my sins to Jesus who died for my sins, priests are to busy, Jesus is never to busy 🙏
@donaldakosior9840
Gee, Donald I am sorry you feel that way. I will go to confession later well maybe."
I went to confession myself today, and the sense of relief afterwards was priceless. ❤
The proper name IS CONFESSION. NOT sacrament of “silly reckoning” since Vatican 2.
@@m_d1905 Would it make sense to confess to men who have been given the power to forgive sins? Certainly.
Also Hebrews 9:24 "For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God FOR US."
Now I'll challenge your theology. Show me, chapter and verse, in the New Testament where it is necessary for a mortal human "priest" to hear your confession of your sins to be forgiven of a offended God.
God works through people. When you go to confession, God is working through the priest. You are confessing to Jesus, not a man.

Confession will never be "out of fashion".

I’m catholic, but I don’t believe confession is necessary. As a man, you know what you do wrong. Own it. Forgive yourself. Move on. BE A MAN!
Real men have enough honesty and humility to confess when they made a mistake.
I confess to God directly for my sins and dont need priests who makes sermons on the confession done by people to them. No mediators required if u have the real faith and trust in god. This is my opinion not to for arguments.

What Jesus taught and what the Catholic Church teaches are diametrically opposed.

Everyone even the sitting Popes go to Confession. 'Probably' is not a word you use when it pertains to your salvation. Don't judge.
