Love the vlog style of the video. I know it takes a lot of effort to show up in front of the camera, and you nailed it! 👌🏽 and rusting the brackets look sick too!
Awesome technique! I plan to use this for some architectural trim around my soffit vents. I think that this finish on steel will blend nicely with my western red cedar soffits. It might be useful to wash the parts first with soapy water to remove any mill lubricants or fingerprints, for consistency across parts.
Hah! Nice result. Linseed oil is a time honoured treatment for steel too. I use it on most everything, from exterior brick work (bit of carbon black oxide to tint it), wood both internal and external, copper, concrete, gal steel, corten and raw steel after a suitable period of oxidising. Wonderful stuff, proper wabi sabi look.
Thanks for the informative and interesting video. I would like to create my own exterior corten steel look. How would I seal.tgis look please?.I'm concerned when it rains the rust will run down my house. Thank you.
@@DesignCraftWorkshopNot clearly or audible enough. Also 1 to 8 parts of what ml? Then one tablespoon of salt. Surely using liters vs ml will need more salt.
Do not do this to anything important! It might look nice for now, but unlike Corten, it will keep on rusting. Soon it will look terrible. A little later it will rust completely through, destroying your piece.
What do you think of this look?
Love it
Love this look! And its so simple!
How to protect this finish in the long term?
@@nandhagopalo.s1853 You can spray lacquer over the metal to seal it.

haha for sure! I need to work on being more comfortable with myself. That will make things so much easier.
This is awesome! Love the look of rusty Corten!
Me too! It has this awesome desert vibe
I'm just so in love with your style in everything you make and produce Bao 😍 beautiful work
Thank you so much Nickole!
Very cool! I like how it turned out...thanks for sharing the process!
Thanks Bruce! I'm liking how it turned out too

Oh I didn't know that! Might have to give it a try in the future
Have you tried Japanning?
@@jerrywhidby. nope. Never heard of it
This is really cool. I love that rusty look
Thanks man! Me too!
Definitely a cool look and a great way to get that rustic look!
I think it's a pretty unique look
I'll have to try that. Good information. Thanks
Thank you!
Great video my guy. Love the story telling.
Thanks my dude!
Super cool look. Like the evenness too. Mahalo for sharing!🙂🐒
Thanks so much man! Loving how it looks
That’s a dope effect man! Super cool. Keep up the great work
Thanks man! loving how it looks!
Pretty cool man! Always look forward to your videos.
I look forward to you watching my videos
What kind of wizardry is this?! Such a cool process - I'm definitely saving this video for future reference!
Thanks man! It'll be cool to see some leather work incorporated with metal!
@@DesignCraftWorkshop I totally agree! I may need to figure out a project to do just that!
I like the one to your left best
Maybe the solution wasn't saturated with salt yet on the first one? I love corten steel. I would have added to seal the rust with wax paste.
Possibly! But I added a good amount of salt 🤷🏻♂️
Great vid, any sealer recomendations to maintain the desired rust (color) for as long as possible? TIA
I would use a clear lacquer to seal it off. It darkens a bit though.
Hi from Indo. Did you use the stainless or cold roll steel bracket?
Thanks for the informative and interesting video. I would like to create my own exterior corten steel look. How would I seal.tgis look please?.I'm concerned when it rains the rust will run down my house. Thank you.
I would use an exterior oil base urethane to seal it
@@DesignCraftWorkshop thank you. Would this stand 45⁰C heat during summer and rain during winter ? Also do I have to keep applying this oil ?
Wht is the ratio of white vinegar and hyderogen peroxide
I’d like to know this as well. The audio really wasn’t clear.
Does it make sense to seal it with some kind of transparent finish?
Yes you can. Clear urethane is fine
is it create residue or peeling skin after applying the solution
It does a little bit so having a clear sealer is best
Thanks @@DesignCraftWorkshop
What is the concentration of hydrogen peroxide is it 3% or 35%
It’s 3%
...and lifetime how long...
Has been lasting for awhile now
I hope 5years.....
Pls someone the proportion ratio ..
The ratio is explained in the video.

Thanks. You can actually seal it with a clear sealer to prevent it from further rusting.
Or WD40. Or Inox.
