- Welcome to another VS or Comparison video. Today I'm doing AC Odyssey and AC Origins. In this video I wanted to show more of the core combat and stealth gameplay. I didn't want to use too many abilities for this video. With Origins the abilities seamlessly integrate into the gameplay, with Odyssey you have to pick and most of what you want to use. So for this video I wanted to mostly show the base level of combat and assassinations. Let me know if you enjoyed the video, I like making these. Thanks for watching and thank you for the support :D

After playing Odyssey, even though I think they did a good job with the stealth moves, I prefer the Origins' combat.

I hate how they zoomed out the camera and added super powers for odyssey. Its just goofy. Origins had the perfect mix of badads warrior, but a vulnerable one.
But I do like playing in Greece.
That's a weird preference. In both games I manually increased the fov to 150 because the games are super zoomed in for no reason. With 150 you have a much better overview in combat.
I think the reason you have superpowers in odyssey is because your character wields a piece of eden.
Yeah, that's the dilemma I have about buying the game or not. On one hand, I can go around Greece and see places that I have learned so much about. But at the same time, it the animation looks slightly off, you can be a bit overpowered, and there is the choice thing that I am not a huge fan of.
@@vicenzostella1390 Its still a really good game. Just play on normal and don't upgrade to the OP abilities. I think its like 20 bucks now.

@4EverGamer X not really. Bayek's hidden blade is the one of Darius, that you meet in the first expansion of Odyssey
@4EverGamer X it's the same Hidden Blade But Darius wears it with the blade on the top of his hand, in this way he doesn't cut of his finger. Bayek put it on wrongly and so guy his finger.
And since there are no assassins, Darius probably created the blade by himself (in the trailer doesn't look like a PoE)

Origins' kills are so much cleaner than Odyssey's; I get that Alexios/Kassandra was supposed to be a bit more warriorlike than the rest seeing as it's in Peloponessian Greece, but even for them, the kill animation simply lacks practicality.
I don't get why in most Leonidas' Spear animation it switch hand at some point. To me it's what make most of those animation stand out, in a bad manners. It's seem so over the top everytime.

Origins is much better and finished that odessey considering gameplay mechanics and also every opponent is beefy is odessey . An Assassin's speciality is the lethal potential they have to offer thus being stronger and efficient in killing their opponents. So, as an "Assassin's creed" game not fucking warriors legacy bayek is much better than alexios/ kassandra.
The odyssey one is worst in my opinion because he makes more noise in the assassination and they are unnecessary movement, just shank him in the neck if you go for the stomach he'll make more noise

FOX _ Origins makes Bayek grab the guy though. Arno could smoothly and silently stab two guys at once.
It's also a shame that in Odyssey it takes a million hits to kill your opponent in battle in comparison to Orgins. It takes away from the feel of being a skilled assassin that knows what he is doing. I like to relate the combat system in past assassin creed games to a fight scene from King Arthur (2004), Tristan's final battle against Cedric. Sad to say it no longer feels like that.

@Diego Just like how it was in Origins. Higher level enemies took tons of hits until they finally died. Also in the video, Origins character is pretty high level, while Odyssey is low. Pretty significant difference.
I dont like how odyssey made most of the skills you have in origins as an ability like the bows and smoke bombs, but whatever

The assasination animations in Odyssey are cooler in my opinion. But it's very loud, i can't decide right now which is better. They are both Awesome!

If you notice, everything in Odyssey is loud, or, high profile kills. Only way to get a low profile kill is the upgrade your Assassin tree get more quiet assassinations.
and that part of the tree is like up to level 15 until it's unlocked.

I think they're quite silly in Odyssey. Yes, the spear of Leonidas is an Isu artifact but your enemies are also made of paper it seems. You can pull the entire blade through their skull with ease. In Origins on the other hand you can only stab and it's generally more silent, which makes the situations more realistic. In Odyssey everybody is not just blind but also DEAF.
To the ignorant fools who keep asking why origins and Odyssey had different combat styles: they were made by two different teams almost working at the same time with different approach to the hit box combat style. AC Vikings is being developed by the origins team under Ashraf, so hopefully we will get a much badass combat and assasination style.

Definitely like the combat system in Origins over Odyssey. Was wondering which one to get back into and this has sealed the deal for me. I like the special attacks in Origins when holding down the R1 or R2.
Every guy defending Odyssey is like, "Oh but in the others the combat was too easy" in Unity you could die easily just like the enemies

For me Origins has the best Combat, and definitely best stealth animations Over Odyssey. Personally l always liked the idea of the shield in Origins. It allowed both defensive and offensive game play, if there was couple of enemy's in Origins then i would go offensive, but when i was facing 10 to 15 enemy's at once, i would use defensive strategy, by raising my shield, pulling out a spear, and making sure my back was facing a wall or cover. So i couldn't get attacked from every angle. While Odyssey only has offensive, game play forcing you to jump around constantly.
And for stealth animations, like come on? Origins makes more sense, while still looking cool. While i can agree Odyssey's are more fun to watch, they just don't make any sense.

The thing I love about Origins over Odyssey is when you sneak up on the enemy or as the enemy gets closer, the music rises and makes it more exciting.
Odyssey has the best animations while origins has the best combat. I hate how in odyssey you have to slash a soldier 20 times before he dies compared to origins. Look at the damage a sword attack in odyssey does compared to origins. It's pathetic and it's done just to force the player to use special abilities they shouldn't actually need
He was using daggers in odyssey. In origins they weren't much better.

The odyssey parts are only lvl 15 tho, while origins is lvl 50, he hasn't unlocked many active skills in odyssey yet
I get wym, I’m currently lvl 44 in Odyssey and fighting some enemies around your lvl or 1-2 lvls up will take many hits but it all depends on your weapon dmg and warrior build that you focus into, and if the slashing and melee isn’t going your way, you could always consider working into hunter build which I find fun with the many abilities it has, especially with its most op ability in the game, the special charged shot although it can glitch and bug shooting at a wrong direction at times

Odyssey should've had shields because as a Spartan mercenary how can you not, especially a shield was the most important thing to a spartan during combat

I believe it was a different team that developed Odyssey. The guys that worked on Origins are working on Valhalla. But that game still need a lot of polish before it can dethrone Origins.
It isn't like odyssey has bad combat and that they messed it up. I assume you're just bad at odyssey.
Plus valhalla is pretty bad compared to the other RPG ones.

I spent over 100 hours in one month. This game have so much things to do and so many beautiful places that I just look them for minutes without doing nothing. Is just a GREAT GREAT GAME.
Assassin's Creed Origins > Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Both are great games! Combat wise, i'll go with Odyssey. It has a more dynamic battle without the shield, parrying and dodging is more challenging than holding L1(in Origins) when fighting. By getting the best shield/s (Compendium, before the max lvl is 40) in Origins, you will be nearly impossible to kill IMO
Eh, half of the enemies in origins can block break with their entire moveset, you can tap L1 to toggle the shield so you don't have to hold it and the shield is much more realistic than teleportation and other superpowers but to each their own
@@spencersinclair2239 in odyssey they don’t let you parry at all if your enemy is glowing red about to do a strong attack so, in all fairness they’re both pretty much the same.
@@crystalgod2637 I can't decide which I like more tbh, I absolutely love both of them, both have really good stories, really fun combat and likable protagonists, although I like Bayek way more than Kassandros. My girlfriend is from Greece and I absolutely love Greek mythology so for those reasons I'm leaning towards odyssey but for my own personal opinion of which I like more I think I need to go with origins, I enjoyed the story and the characterization of Bayek more than the story of odyssey but then again I haven't finished odyssey yet so I can't make a definitive claim so we're back to square one 🤷♀️
Origins is by far my pick between the two. But with Odyssey I'm still enjoying all of it. I think with Origins it hit my soft spot when I saw how much they changed it to give us something new.
I still haven't gotten the Odyssey and I'm a huge AC fan, from this video I honestly prefer Origins combat and movements, Odyssey doesn't even really look like an AC game, more of a spin-off of sorts, I'm not impressed nearly as much as I was with early Origins videos, hopefully after Odyssey they return to more classic AC style, it's silly but one of the things that really bothers me in Odyssey is how soldiers get blown away from arrows as if they were hit by a school bus or something wtf is that..
I hope I change my opinion and enjoy the new game but I won't be getting it just now yet, I'll wait till the price is halved in a couple of months, I'm playing Mad Max atm anyways plus I'm more of a multiplayer/versus type gamer so I'm good with Gears 4 for my main game and in no rush to get this one.

I really don't like the colour/light/sparks effect of the combat in Odyssey... it makes no sense. Also, it looks strange how a man in heavy armour like that is crouching and sneaking around trying to be stealthy - but I'm sure most people won't be bothered by that, or will even try to play it like that.

Guards are damage sponges in Odyssey 🤦♂️ you’re level 15 and they’re level 13 yet you still struggle to kill them.
I like games where one shot is one kill for enemies and for you too but instead of health, the game focuses on blocking and evading and countering, unity did an okay job of that but you still had a health bar
Little bit unfair when comparing these since you are level 50 with legendary weapons in origins and then level 15 (with daggers) in odyssey.
Im level 50 now with odyssey and my guy takes everyone out just as quick.

Hypnotic I played both origins and Odyssey at 4k max settings and the textures in Odyssey are better then origins although it's not a major leap plus origins had lots of sand though so there weren't many textures like those found in Odyssey

I like Origins combat much more than Odyssey. Odyssey was more like playing a super hero. All you needed to do is wait for a charge to build back up and then mash the button to see a barrage of attacks. In Origins, you had a shield to block with. He felt like a man and I had more control of the fighting. In short... Origins seemed more like actual fighting.
This guy has no idea how to fight in Odyssey. Adrenaline never replensh automatically during combat in Odyssey. Have you even played Odyssey, turd? Bet you couldn't even survive against 1 Merc on the same level in Odyssey. There exist no combat in Origins - only one hit kill. So f**king easy, I won't even call that as combat. Origins is for amateur

After playing 50 hours out of Odyssey, I gotta say that people who scream everywhere that it's a bad assassin game are lying.
You can build an assassin set for your character making him/her efficient with stealth operations. I used to spent entire afternoons just clearing fortresses with stealth techniques. The warrior and hunter playstyles are good as well to offer more variety to the player. In case, they want to tackle missions differently.
I'm kind of upset at myself for listening to so many comments shaming Odyssey and therefore skipping for years this game. It deserved far more praise.
True but i just wish ranged abilities did more damage in stealth (maybe my build is just wrong, but i feel like they never kill anyone and deal sorta low dmg)

In my opinion, Odyssey is fun in the aspect of stealth, but when it comes to combat, it can become extremely one-sided (if you're playing "Nightmare" like I always do). Although they did a good job on stealth, I feel like it's very handicapped due to all the abilities you can use to benefit your stealth.
(Rush Assassination - Pretty much teleport)
(Multi-Arrow - Shoot precise headshots on multiple targets at once)
Almost all Assassin Tree abilities.
As for Origins, the combat is extremely smooth, bows are not very useless, and stealth feels more like assassin's creed stealth.
Story? Odyssey
Protagonist? Origins
Gameplay? Both

Im playing AC Origins and AC Odyssey back to back and im havin lots of fun..
It make sense for Odyssey combat to be loud, because the MC is a mercenary with no formal traning unlike Bayek

What I like about combat in odyssey is that killing an enemy doesn’t take a split second like in origins, so combat takes more time which is nice in my opinion. I will soon get the game, but one thing that is sure about all of us, is that we will miss the eagle, Senu.
In Odyssey u have eagle called Ikaros

Idk there's something off about the hidden blade killing animation in origins, it has that feel plus there shouldve been more finishers in origins because that's what sold for the combat in assassin's creed.

No. All enemies are damage sponges unless you use something way too overpowered like hero strike.

Origins' fights are the same in all the fights you enter: if you have a shield, do a heavy attack, if you have a large shield, hold and parry before you get hit, and that's how the whole game is. Side quests consist of two fish-like duarn NPCs talking without good cutscenes. Open world events, on the other hand, are the same base capture and so on as in all games. On the other hand, there are ridiculous abilities in the skill tree, for example, some of them make night and day, steal a chariot, etc. The basic combat mechanics of Odyssey are the same as origins, but the abilities in the skill tree diversify the gameplay. All of the side missions are supported with cutscenes and the presentation quality is high. Odyssey is better than origins

To me I hated how they babied us with the parry in od. The window was way too huge and didn't offer any challenge in origins your timing window is MUCH smaller

Odyssey is the most complete AC game ever created, no doubt. Origin may be the second one (with Black Flag and/or Unity (doesn't mean Unity is great)), but Odyssey has more content for sure. However, there is something more charming about Origin imo, the movements, the fights, the map... Origin is definitely one of the best AC game ever, if not the best. Odyssey is one of them too, but once again, Origin as something more unique i think. And Bayek is fucking charismatic.
I like some of the stuff in odyssey, but in origins I was able to play a bit more like the old games with a chain assasination, then using the dual blades with a full bar. It gives it that flow/kill streak feel
I personally don't like the kill streak mechanics, it's too easy, not challenging at all, in old ac games you're pretty much a god but in ac origins, you're just a guy who knows how to use a sword

@@godzillazfriction being able to take on an entire group of enemies with virtually no skill is too easy, I want to be scared when I see a group of enemies instead of being like "yeah I can take them just by standing still and pressing 2 buttons" I'm glad they removed the kill streak mechanics, I personally think the combat was at its peak in unity (not counting the rpg combat system)
@@spencersinclair2239 dude there is way more to the combat in the older games than pressing 2 buttons. Just watch assassin's creed 3 or any from that engine and before and you'll see. Personally I do like the combat in unity but sometimes arno feels clunky as shit when in the trailers he takes out enemies effortlessly but they could've added a counter kill finisher in unity to feel satisfied but its still good.
I like Odyssey's combat more, especially with all the abilities you can have, you get so much adrenaline per hit so you can just chain moves effortlessly. Although I miss having two bows, the big one (i forget the name) for head shots was my favorite

@@sbhack2077 It even states it in Origins that the hidden blade was used to kill Xerxes. Aya says it the first time she gives it to you. Now personally I enjoyed Odyssey for what it is but not as an Assassins Creed title. I know that Assassins Creed has moved on from only requiring it to be about Assassins and Templars but I still would have preferred the game to give me more than just Isu and Precursor story stuff. Plus the whole customising each armour piece really bothered me, I personally preferred wearing whatever I liked without worrying about each piece being apart of a a set or worrying about equipment stats. I know alot of aspects from Origins Odyssey improves on but as a game as a whole I personally much prefer Origins. In my opinion Origins is a better game.

Origins combat was way better. First origins had weight and impact, skills and abilities are normal moves, the enemies died quickly and you had normal physics. Odyssey had no impact, it was like hitting air. The enemies take a lot of damage so basically you hit just to fill your adrenaline and use a superheroskill like spartan kick to do damage. If you make a warrior build you lack of assassin and hunter damage so you cant kill with one normal arrow and habe to use a skill, that causes the enemy to fly like 50 meters away and you cant assassinate everyone. I want one shot bow kills, assassinations and be a good fighter with cool abilities like throwing the enemies weapons.

The animation in Origins feels real. I don't know what to say to Odyssey.
I mean, it looks goofy. Yes Odyssey has a better RPG mechanics than Origins but Origins fighting angle is so realistic and looks natural.
Origins flowed better combat wise . I hope the next one is more like origins and less like odyssey . Odyssey with its attack button stuff is off putting.

Origins is better
I have played both and yes Origin was one of the best Assassin's Creed I have played. The combat was great and stealth mechanics were the there as well, and the old Egyptian world was amazing especially exploring the old tombs and pyramids. However, I enjoyed Odyssey more, why?
1- The combat was more enjoyable. You had many options to use and the adrenaline system is pretty good.
2- The Greek world was more enjoyable for me to explore and after 118 hours of play I really thought it was worth it.
3- The sea battles were way more enjoyable. Not saying that Origin's were horrible by any means but it was very limited for you to use its mechanics and not very often. In Odyssey you can use them however you want not to mention exploring under water
Finally, the story. I know many will disagree, but I find the story much more interesting especially if you play as Kassandra, and not Alexios. Although it is the same, but I felt the stroy suits better if you play as the heroine, and because Kassandra had better voice acting.

The reason this is even up for debate, is because people love the greek setting. Other than that, Odyssey is clearly inferior, especially when it comes to details, animations, and overall feeling.
My dad used to game a little and the AC titles were some of his favourites...he loved all of them except unity...he says odyssey looks great graphically but other than that he hates it as it doesnt really make him feel like he's in an AC game...i see where he's coming from honestly after having watched a few playthroughs
I prefer the stealth combat and powers in Odyssey. Its more brutal.

I've been playing Odyssey for a few days now and can honestly say Origins completely shits on it. Origins was fucking beautiful, the animations were clean, the combat was simple and lets not forget shields. Odyssey feels rushed, shit animations and very buggy.
You can definitely tell which team was more passionate in creating an Assassins Creed game.
Origins made me want to play it. Explore each area for the collectibles and to get better weapons and gear and to complete the story. Loved using the different bow and arrow types. I got Odyssey with about 4 hours into it and I'm already wanting to play something else. The combat feels clunky along with using the bow just sucks compared to Origins. I know the fighting styles are different but man it just feels so forced and not fluid like Origins. Maybe it's just me but I'm not liking Odyssey at all.
Combat in Odyssey is better and more responsive than in Origins and the bow is literally the same, except for different damage numbers. I have no idea what you're talking about...
@@cata112233 The bow is not the same at all. Maybe the mechanics of way a bow works is the same but not the initial use. Odyssey's combat gets better as you go along but it's nowhere near as fluid as Origins. Transition from bow to melee and back during combat on both games and see what I'm talking about. Maybe as you unlock and upgrade later it does that but not from rank 1 to 20. I had more fun in Origjns with the bow and melee combat. When can you jump off a roof and shoot your bow on the way down for instance? Is it there later or no? At this point its subjective to what you like and so far to me Origins' combat is better.

Animations in Odyssey are trash. Walking is terrible this alone shows how the odyssey is supposed to be played... constantly running from one POI to another. Kalexios does not even have animation for walking the stairs... wtf?

They both seem to have there merits, would say the gameplay looks more satisfying in origins (having played it I now see how I am doing combat all wrong) though with Odyssey I just love the time period so thanks now I have to finish origins and start Odyssey, soon as I finish going through DA lol (finished origins currently working my way through awakening)

There were many templars who used the hidden blade. In ac rogue, you play as a templar, but you still use the blade. Odyssey basically shows the origin of the templars and it still links to ancient civilization and the modern day, so of course, it can still be called an ac game.
