Great welding job. But I am concerned with steel bars. I would have changed them for food friendly bars, removable at that, so I can detach them and clean. Robust is good when it comes to the grill design, but bars are food safety issue. Unless they are made of food safe metal.

So I see you use 8mm mild steel rod - is this safe to cook on? I was thinking of getting these chromed if I was to do it this way, or use stainless, but then again stainless expensive so I'm unsure.
As far as I checked you should avoid galvanized metal! Not safe at all. The inox, I agree, were too expensive. That's why I chose the 8mm rods. The only problem is rust. After using them I apply oil and store them in a dry place.
@@RustisGold Yes galvanized bad but I thought same for Mild Steel? Or is it OK? (And do like you say, avoid rust by applying oil). I was also thinking of putting stainless steel inox mesh rather than using rods. I'm not sure though. Nice project, I've made the square around the barrel, and the frame. Just onto the grill now. That looks great BUT the location of the handle probably isn’t ideal as the weight of the top grill will tip it towards the back as you carry it. Maybe that’s why you grabbed the top grill instead of the handles when you were putting it in the bbq.

Hola!!!
