If you think about it, based on the number of people Horner killed, it makes perfect sense why it took a while for the Death Wolf to catch Puss until The Cave of Souls. He was too busy with his job!
Wagner Moura delivered a phenomenal performance and made the character so creepy and sinister with just his voice.

Because despite herself not showing up either, she's angry that he had the audacity to stand her up. Or maybe she was waiting outside the church at a closer location waiting for him to show up, and because he never did, she also never actually entered the church herself. Could also be that because Puss is always so arrogant, she wanted him to feel guilty to make him feel some manner of humility, or make him admit that he has feelings for somebody other than himself.

Perito resting his head on Puss's chest/stomach while he's having a panic attack is an actual real life technique called "deep pressure therapy". Almost every service/therapy dog is trained for it. It helps reset your nervous system and can bring you out of an anxiety or panic attack. I lost my shit when I saw that in the theater. It's normalizing something that was a stigma for so long and it's so good to see.

One thing I love about the final battle between Puss and Death is how no one wins, it’s a draw. Puss can’t kill death because it’s a natural force of nature and death could’ve easily killed Puss but saw that he learned his lesson. The win was an appreciation for life and mutual respect.

This movie was definitely a groundbreaking sequel. And quite an improvement for animation in the shrek series. What makes things a lot more interesting, in the first puss in boots movie, Puss and Kitty was madly in love when they first met but then he abandoned her on their wedding day in Santa Coloma after the events of the first movie and made his way to far far away and met Shrek in Shrek 2. And then after the events of Shrek forever after when Puss and Kitty reunited in his second movie, they were literally arguing and fighting like a divorced couple.

And the Wolf has gotta be one of the best characters ever, his presence alone is on it's own league. Never have I been scared by a character in a movie, but he did it. For a one-movie apparition, he's at the top, and he gives a marathon for their money to some of the most renown villains.

This is my understanding of how the star/forest work.
With Goldie, the cabin bit was, in my opinion, the star trying to show her that her wish would have been wasted since she literally already had her wish.
With the others, it would grant their wish as they didn’t fully have their wish.
BUT, I believe the obstacles that the forest creates is to delay its death because once the wish is used, the forest dies.

I like how, at the start, Puss was bragging about having "never been touched by a blade." So the moment Death was actually able to cut him, Puss became a scared, anxious mess. Probably already mentioned, but I didn’t see it. So fun facts!
During the Giant fight the bell rings eight times, one for each of Puss’ deaths. The eighth ring happens when the bell drops on Puss ending his eighth life.
When Puss’ wanted poster appears, there’s Talley marks numbering eight scratched into the wood.
Puss’ ‘Death Cards’ as I call them, when he was remembering the times he died with the Doctor/Barber, the corners are all the faces Death.
Death really was there for Puss on his eighth death. He was behind the crowd in the alleyway when the crowd was doing the wave. It’s a ‘blink and miss it’ moment.
At the bar where Puss meets Death, there are eight empty shot glasses and Death interrupted his ninth glass.
Death really is everywhere in this movie huh?

Funny enough, I got to watch this in theaters with my sister and her boyfriend all bc he was watching puss in boots TikTok’s jokingly saying that we should go. Literally already 9 at night so we bought last minute tickets to watch it. Best. Decision. Ever. I’ve watched a lot of Dreamworks films, this tops the list for my favorite as of rn 😄😄

I love this Puss learns that he shouldn't do anything alone or be alone because he now has a wonderful girl Kitty and a wonderful therapy dog best friend Perrito.
We don't need a wish to make our dreams come true.
Goldie has the family to be with the bears she wanted a family and she has it.
    Everything is Just Right.
I can't wait for Puss in boots to see his friends again I know it has been so long since his adventures with Shrek and Donkey.

31:00 In DC comics, when the Wally West Flash was being chased by the Black Flash aka Death, he had to run to the end of time where death is no longer a concept, thus cheating death itself.

There is so much hidden in this movie. Like yes there is the obvious of the wolf in the crowd during the giant fight, but also the bell he was swinging rings 8 times, the last one when it lands on puss's 8th life. Then you have blink and you miss it moments like the Goldi wanted poster revealing her true intentions. You show it off here as well. Pause the video at 12:04 and see what is carved out of the letters when all 4 portraits are on screen. Last I'll bring up is Perrito's map locations being very dark and disturbing, yet hidden behind innocent labels. Pocket full of posies being a plague reference. River of relaxation being the river styx. The field of quick and easy solutions.... well that one is the darkest so I will let you guess. I'll give you a hint though. That map marker has pictures of what are called "Hangmans trees". In the end this movie went hard, packed in so many amazing moments and characters, and is hands down one of my favorite animated movie made.

One little detail I loved with Death in this movie is his whistling. At first, it starts off creepy and ominous. But by the end, his final whistle is more calm and soothing. Which really fits the while "accepting your mortality and living your life" theme well. To someone who was afraid of death, the thought of it would seem scary to them. But to someone who has accepted death, it would seem almost comforting in the end.
There were also some nice little details sprinkled throughout like when Puss was fighting the giant, the bell rings a total of 8 times (the 8th being when it fell on Puss and crushed him) mirroring how many lives he had lost. And when he was at the bar, he had 8 empty glasses and was drinking his 9th, also mirroring him now on his last life. I also want to say in the bar scene, the chandelier had 9 candles on it, 8 of them already out, and the last one went out when Death made his presence known.
Another little fun detail, when Goldi is reading the book of Fairytales, the first word of every sentence spells out "Y.O.U. A.L.R.E.A.D.Y. H.A.V.E. I.T." spelling out that she already has what it is she's looking for.

Really loved this movie. A damn great improvement from the first one. Puss and gang are amazing. The three villains especially Death and Horner are damn good. Even the Conscience Bug is hilarious. He’s meant to be Jiminy Cricket, which is funny cause he had originally guided Pinnochio, the same guy Jack Horner lost his fame to in the flashback. He saw success with Pinnochio and massive failure with Horner

The people behind this movie also know that there are people that go through movies bit by bit and there are a few details hidden in plain sight. Most are extremely difficult to notice. Somewhere in the beginning you can see the wolf in the background. The 'Death Cards'? The wolf is in the corners of them. The fairy tale book? The library card is interesting, but the one page they show? Read the first letters of each row for a hidden message ("you already have it"). No idea how many there are hidden.
There are a few others that are more easily spotted. When the doctor blows the candle our and says 'you died'? Check the bar scene that follows. The candle on the chandelier goes out just before the wolf shows up. Also, take a close look at the 'horses' of Big Jack Horner's carriage. They are actually unicorns with their horns cut off. Considering that Horner has baby unicorn horns? He might have caught a pair or more unicorns, bred them and cut of the horns of their baby unicorns.
In short, they put a lot of work into this movie, on top of the hard work that is easy to notice.

There are many instances where the Wolf was hinted as a far more powerful being. Besides the tropes associated with the supernatural during the first first scene, he can seemingly appear out of nowhere and only have Puss notice him, the two examples being the escape sequence on Jack’s factory and the big fight that causes Puss to run. Additionally, every time the map was shown, the wolf is never seen, while in the cave of souls, where Kitty had no idea how to get to Puss and decides to rescue Perito, Death was already there.
Finally, though at this point it was already revealed, this scene just cemented his power, he phased through the star wall, the same thing that killed the chef and almost killed Junior, he had no problems going through it.

This was definitely better than the first Puss in Boots movie. It has a Spider-Verse style animation which was great, it has some funny jokes, epic action scenes, and in my opinion Florence Pugh as Goldilocks was great casting. There are two movies I actually loved Florence Pugh in so far, Black Widow and this movie. It’s was just so unexpected how Dreamworks made this movie so good.

First movie told a story about Puss BEFORE he became a legendary outlaw.
And this one (possibly) happened about a decade within Shrek universe. So, of course Puss is triple cocky and world-wide known persona.

I don't think I would actually want said desire to be fulfilled by the wish, because there would be no sense of satisfaction in doing that. Rather, I would wish to know the road that I must follow in order to reach that goal.
