Worked in security from 2011-2014. This was my company payroll vehicle. They had it for over ten years and put over 400,000km on it and it never saw the highway. Ran good.
Today, they don't make a midsized SUV with a truck frame that's body-on frame with a V6 engine and rearwheel drive. The S10 and Blazer had a 23 year production run. Extremely reliable. The 4.3 engine with a 4L60E transmission is tried and true
Wow, this makes my 1992 GMC Typhoon look really modern and well built, which it was for the most part. I owned an '88 Jimmy two door from '95 to '96 and it bunny hopped uncontrollably driving at walking speed on rough grass but was super stable and tight around corners on the road. I think it must have had the full-on off road setup. These trucks had a choice of 5 levels of suspension stiffness from the factory if I remember correctly and I wanted one of these Blazers when they were new in 1995 but still to this day prefer the older body style of the pre-facelift models like the Typhoon/Syclone and think manufacturers ruined styling worldwide in the '90's due to softening up the contours for aerodynamics. The Jeep Cherokee and Land Rover/Range Rovers are notable exceptions where they kept true to their original design concepts. Boxy and square equals more load capacity.
This vehicle is great for emergency’s if you’re other vehicles are down and need a vehicle to go to work or to the store or even if you need a part to fix the broken vehicle this is a great Choose cost 4,000 dollars doesn’t take a lot of space to storage you can sell it and probably sell for the same price and make a down payment for a better vehicle
Even in better shape the steering on these is awful. It's slow and can't keep up with any kind of quick cornering. it makes my Nissan Hardbody feel like a sports car.
I think this 4 door Blazer better than Trailblazer. And no one surpassed the zr2 Blazer offroad in its class. To bad no new Blazer based on the pickups.
My mom had a 1996 Blazer. Bought it brand new and we did regular maintenance to it, still ended up being a total piece of junk after about 5 years. Leaked oil like crazy and the AC stopped working. Got it "fixed" once by a Chevrolet dealership and it broke again not even 2 weeks later. I was happy when she got rid of it. Black with black interior, we roasted in the Summer...
Lol amen! My pops had a 94 he got new (older gen) and had till around 2012. Rode like a pogo stick from new and handled like a valiant robin in the corners. Steering was loose, 4.3 vortec had EGR valve issues, trans felt like it was slipping at around 110k miles and the 4×4 vacuum pod quit working around 70k miles during a blizzard in the early 2000s. I respect almost all 4×4s exept these disgraceful pieces lol.
the motor blew up in mine but I got that fixed ! a chevy is not my kind of vehicle, I prefer a f-150 4x4 but this blazer runs pretty good after I got another motor put in it !
I have 2000 Blazer my hatch is split top goes up bottom goes down the rims on it cost as much as it paid for the suv $500 rim I found out and I just paid $3,400 for the car I got it with 111,800 miles on it in 2013
So my mom has one and she loves it's older than I am 17 years old and still works except the ac doesn't work ,one of the doors doesn't shut good ,and the CD player doesn't work ugh not even the tape player 😂i hope it stops working so we can buy a Jeep instead and we also have a Chevy Malibu and I love it but u know my mom she prefers driving the blazer where u sweat a damn gallon during the summer in California .Thank you for wasting ur time on my rant :)
I take my Bluetooth Bose speaker in my 04 Blazer. Just my both front windows leak when it rains, drivers seat doesn’t recline, n my manual window knobs keep popping off 🤷♂️ over 220k 👍
Dawg that Blazer had over 200,000 of course your steering is not going to be good nor subpar. I have one with 150,000 and the steering is starting to feel worn but the ride isn't at all floaty.
Jed Knutson The hilarious thing is that when a channel like saabkyle doesn't review older models for a while, folks ask "WHERE ARE THE OLD CAR REVIEWS???" lol
+Can't Think Of Name the trailblazer didn't have a v6, they had the Atlas straight 6 and the 5.3 v8 from the larger Tahoe/Yukons and the Silverado/Sierra.
Why are you so surprized that the vehicle doesn't have a cassette player? Come on, man, We are talking 2000, not 1985. My 1994 Chrylser even had a CD player.
All 4x4 BOF suvs or trucks have a higher rollover potential rate. From long wheelbase american trucks to the smallest japanese suzuki. Thats why they printed you the rollover warning in the driver visor, and at your door panel. So if u give these vehicals to a rush kid its likely hes gonna roll it over at your street cornor.

the 4runner is midsize, truck based, body on frame and v6
@@dazednconfusedrn Yep and that's basically a Tacoma with a roof. That's the only SUV I'd buy
Just bought myself a 1998 LT in black and it’s sat on 22s, gets some attention over here in the UK, love it
I have a 2000 blazer 2dr 4x4 got 165000 ml on it I love it, never had problem takes a lickin keeps on tickin

Thanks for this. In the process of buying a 1999 Jimmy. No videos about that on UA-cam. So this was helpful.
I have the s10 version of this truck, v6 automatic rwd.
It's still fun to drive, and still runs flawlessly.
The handling wouldn't be worn out or numb if it wasn't for the 210,xxx miles.
Has over 20000 it feels numb haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa well its not going to feel brand new the twit
Even in better shape the steering on these is awful. It's slow and can't keep up with any kind of quick cornering. it makes my Nissan Hardbody feel like a sports car.
Yeah its gearbox is worn to shit
Mitchell Bolden
Even my 2000 gmc jimmy 4.3l vortec v6 4x4 with only 119,000 miles has handling problems and suspension problems

My daughter just bought this exact same Blazer. Color inside and out and wheels.
Flush the coolant now. I'm a Chevy tech. I know these inside and out. Dexcool is very temperamental.
I love those generation blazer than any other model even better than those newer 3 cylinder engine one.
Take a shot every time he says body on frame

Came close buying 1985 s10 blazer, wish I did.
They actually had a remote for that. I don’t think you have it though

Sounds like its LT trim with leather seats.
I have one love it....
You forgot to say about driving the blazer you can feel the wind blowing going down highway
Same color and year as one my mom had

Esperanzilla why don’t she just get the ac fixed/ charged and add a Bluetooth radio you don’t need to replace what can be fixed for cheaper young one
The door problem is only a hinge pin, 2 $ fix.
Esperanzilla I know this is an old comment but never ever buy a Jeep. They’re terrible

C'mon, guys. I'm Proud Of You! hurried humorous What do you think...
How are you gonna review an old ass car to new car standards
How many automobiles will run 290,000 miles with no trouble.
With the blazer u can.. U will run into one transsmition rebuild though and other minor stuff.
Most cars actually will if you take care of them.
You cant tell where its going feels numb ? Haaaaaaaaa laughing so hard next time at a car dealer I will say this
Dawg that Blazer had over 200,000 of course your steering is not going to be good nor subpar. I have one with 150,000 and the steering is starting to feel worn but the ride isn't at all floaty.
I have a 2000 trailblazer but am having a hard time finding parts, are they just blazer parts? Because the trailblazer parts dont work
You need to search for blazer parts. Your year trailblazer was a trim level, not a separate vehicle.
no remote key option? dudes pls
I need one
So he is in a 2000 dollar car at best and he wants it to feel like a 30,000 fancy car

Some of the Blazers did 😂

can you find a Honda Element?
dennisscipio Possibly.
You should've mentioned the horrible rollover death rate
realimbored668 is this fr i just purchased a blazer today
David Zamora he is just teasing you. Mind you that this is not a corners lusting sedan so please drive it as such..
The rollover death rate is due to inexperienced drives who don't understand the concept of counter steering
All 4x4 BOF suvs or trucks have a higher rollover potential rate. From long wheelbase american trucks to the smallest japanese suzuki. Thats why they printed you the rollover warning in the driver visor, and at your door panel. So if u give these vehicals to a rush kid its likely hes gonna roll it over at your street cornor.
realimbored668 Just like the Ford Explorer, Jeep Cherokee, Dodge Durango or really any other high centered suv from that time.
PP no puedo
Am I being punked?
Yes. He's an idiot.
Did it have rear A/C control?
No. Rear AC not available.
Of course the steering is non-responsive after 200,000 miles... Geez

i hate my blazer..replaced damn near everything that can be replaced..complete junk
