Hey sam, the solo cycling team built the loam track with the drop into 2 muddy corners and we feel privileged our track was in your video. This is benjy from rogate by the way
Imagine if you didn’t know who Sam was and saw him turn up at your local pump track on that gravel bike, only to have him absolutely destroy you while not even trying 😂
Cool! You've really got to be in the drops for technical stuff, or bad things will happen. The trick is to get the bars high enough so that being in the drops feels natural. It also helps if the drops are flared out a bit. That way you can pull up on them without the top of the bars hitting your forearms. Gravel bikes are the ultimate bike for car free mountain biking. They're also a great excuse to hike-a-bike over the scarier features.
I always mountain biked as a teen but into my mid twenties the gravel bike has pulled through as my go to! There’s something too sick about being able to just leave your front door and go any route you want offroad. Trying to stay fast to cover distance, while navigating the dropper bars and high seat down bumpy single track feels absolutely insane…. all that plus you get to check out loads of nature, explore your local area, find the best cut throughs and fly down speedy road descents. Loved this vid. Think it would be great to see Sam use this bike more on this channel… leaning into its intended purpose! The Bike looks sick too!
@@harrythompson6977 Fixie is not really complete. Fun for flat or city ride. Gravel is almost complete fun bike. You can not going uphill with small gear right? Or downhill continuosly cycle at 60km/h with no brake? Especially offroad uphill/downhill.
@@apair4002 fixie is the most efficient if you have the right gearing have you ever riden or owned one? I work in sales at a bike shop if you got the legs for it and the right gear your faster than any road bike on or off road
Just put some vintage drops on a 90's XC frame, and yup - new favourite bike. Still working on the cockpit setup, and wider bars will be a necessity eventually, but it's pretty fun to just tuck in and rip over stuff that isn't pavement. Our local trails are pretty tame so the drops make it feel more fun and sketchy - it feels terrible and also great to go headfirst down an embankment.
The bike is good quality for sure but the main point here is that if you are a good & experience rider you'll manage well no matter which bike you are riding.
With hydro brakes you should be able to lock both wheels up with just a gentle squeeze while on the hoods. My whole outlook on bikes was changed the day I got my first gravel bike. It just blew me away being as fast as a road bike but you can ride it anywhere.
Agreed. And there should be an adjustments for the travel of the brakes and where they start to engage. I’m almost exclusively on the hoods. Of course, riding like a maniac right out of the box is certainly half the fun of the viddy.
Because you were wondering how to grip the bar - yes you can grip the hoods further forward so you have full control of the brakes. I usually have my pinkie fingers behind the bar, ring fingers in front of the bars and index and middle fingers on the brakes. The hoods alone will hold your whole weight.
As a gravel and road biker, I'm impressed by the amount of fun is having on the bike. Also, cringing at the 'pushing the bike uphill' thing. Climbing is a big part of the fun!
Reminds me of when I ran drop bars on my mountain bike in the early '90s, with the bar end ultegra touring shifters, the brake/ shifter combo had yet to be invented
Gravel bikes are so much fun, I am roadie but originally a mountain biker, but the gravel bike gives me enough trails these days as you just kept asking yourself at every obstacle "can this bike handle it?" Then it proves time and time again it can!
Love all your content especially the big stuff but this has to be up there with being one of your most fun vids yet! Got proper tongue in cheek Martin Ashton road bike party vibes about it! Great work the pair of you. 😉🥰🤣🙌🙌
You should do this in a crowed place with lots of riders just to get their reactions!! Play the newbie and ask them for advice on how to air with your bike. Then just ripp it!!! That would be golden!!!
This was a cool video. Speaks a lot for the strength of that frame! And for those who didn’t know, this happened 7 years ago, minus the backflip! ua-cam.com/video/gvL1agpqwvE/v-deo.html

sick thanks for building the track! Its awesome guys!

😂
Sam Reynolds average rider. Harry 13 years old kid much better than him
I ride Mtb watch most of the relevant channels and have no idea who Sam Reynolds is. This video just popped up.
@@BH-cy9tb You should watch Sam Pilgrim more fun than Reynolds
@@robert8077 I watch Sam pilgrim all the time. Epic 😂
Love when people ride a gravel bike and feel what it's all about. Speed is crazy good. Made me build a fully rigid xc race bike
Great video Sam showing how good a rider you are and great advert for the Ns Rag

should try a fixie with gravel tyres most fun you can have when you get confident with fixed wheel

Fun! Try the tires around 40F/45R you will get a bunch more traction and squish without loosing much speed
who thought he actually fell on the trails but it was only the gopro falling? :D
Hi Sam, I had a smile on almost the whole 20 minutes while I wached your video. Thank you that was great!

I only ride a cyclocross/gravel bike and am amazed your skill on the bike the same day you got it. Awesome riding.
As a gravel rider this guy is my personal hero.
Nice one Pilgs! Always love your crazy Bike challenges.
And the new tooth looks spot on mate
The level of skills this dude has made it look so easy.
This is a proper gravel bike test! I was wondering if I was a bit strange riding single tracks with my gravel bike, but you can do more!
Geez. This guy can ride anything and make it look easy.
Awesome! So glad to see the intro back!
We need an official ns bikes ad for this gravel bike and it’s just Sam shredding it way past a gravel bikes usual capabilities
Don't think I've seen Sam laugh this much in a video ever
More gravel bikes pls!
Dude, that was awesome to watch! Mad skills! You gained a subscriber!

Game of bike with pilgs on weird bikes pleeeeaasse 😂
14:40 Nice shoe-lace-belt😁🤙🏻

Got those same kicks Sam. I can't get them upside down but that's quite okay lol.
But will it hit the canyon gap? The leg shaving was hilarious! 😂

totally!

New bike? sweet...love your content keep up the good work Sam
Nicely done Sam!
That would be great in the winter too
We need you and pilgrim to do a game of bike on the gravel bikes. Pure dreams!
16:41 to 17:09 was pure awesomeness!
LOL'd at the shaving legs bit
6:28 I was thinking “how is he still on”, and then he flops onto his face 😂😂
Downhill on a rigid fork? Why not?! Gonna get me one of that NS gravel bike!
One of your best vids yet.
thanks!
I just picture there being a village in England where all the boys are named Sam and they all shred on bikes. This is quality content here
very cool, maybe flat bar it and ideally maybe a slight smaller front wheel to spin bars without the wheel hitting the foot?

That's crazy what you've done here! 🤘
Super fun and what a rider. Gotta question riding trails in the mud though… especially on skinnies!
Yo, the intro is back!! 🔥🤘
I used to snow ride my hybrid bike with slick tires. LOL I was on a quest to develop snow riding skills.
Freakin awesome, bro!
Those vittoria mezcal tires are 44mm so I would run 25 30psi for off road gravel but maybe go a bit higher for what your doing like 40psi
oh, not 70 then haha
Awesome video, definitely made me chuckle😂
Hilariously entertaining. Subscribed!
This is insane! Incredible riding.
Glad you like it!

Seriously incredible man!!!
That morphing stem length you have is magic
Sam’s never gonna touch that bike ever again is he? 😂😂😂
Subscriber giveaway?
8:15 is how I sprained my back. Gravel tires on my road bike
It would be so much better if it had flat bars... and a suspension fork... and a slacker frame... oh wait 😀
Whole video:
Me: No way he's gonna do that
Sam: Does it
Best video yet 👏
haha thanks!
Gravel bikes are such a fun “shouldn’t work but does” bike
I took my gravel bike to the local skate park. It was not made for it but was still fun.
put some straight bars on that beast, back to an 80's MTB
Sweet flip. I don't have a gravel bike, but if I did, I think I'd use normal levers.
jajajaja I thought I was an idiot on a gravel bike but you are really nuts. Great video, that's how then you get perfect technique.
13:27 - Sam explains the Vulcan love-punch.
Vulcan neck pinch wasn't it?! Or is that the joke...
@@ManWalksDogs Vulcans were my favourite aliens in Star Wars. They're like grumpy Noldor Elves.
You'll be doing a Pilgrimesque "Free Bike Challenge" next. 🤘😜
I did consider the canyon gap but thought it might be a step too far haha. maybe next time!
Epic video Sam 👍
Thanks! 😀
Talented rider fo sho.
Please tell us what you are wearing…knee pads and shin guards under the pants or built in?
The cyclocross season has started!
It is not the bike, it is the rider.
I am not sure but I think I want a gravel bike now??? Lol 😂
If you use it on the darkfest stepup then maybe 🤔
Oh man never 😂😂
Amazing! ❤❤❤
I wish i have that bike to ride service going work
What is it with Sams and doing crazy stuff on bikes you would never expect haha.
Thats a great looking bike
25-45psi is more common for gravel depending on the, width, conditions and surface.
That was a good laugh😂
swap the handlebars u have a hybrid im so confused?
Lovely 👏👏👏
Holy shit, this was epic.
Am seriously considering a dropper post for my gravel bike
If your brakes "do nothing" when you're on the hoods, your brakes aren't working properly. You should be able to lock up both wheels easily
Bordon is my local pump track, only five min ride to it
Thats's what I did when I got my gravel bike. Change the stem to a 40 mm MTB stem.
Liquid dnb and bikes just a couple of reasons I enjoy sams channel
Try it with some riser bars
So you have no winter in UK
Blake Sampson needs to get his gravel bike to yours and make good on his promise to flip his gravel bike.
17:48, "actually Blake tried a few times last summer, and it didn't go very well."
haha yeah blake needs redemption!
While on the Rag I wonder if someone asked Sam a reasonable question for him to get instantly and irrationally angry at them..
I love it how you guys have to be out at those trails like 5AM to get a run in on a bike lake that
have the same bike its WONDERFUL !!!
i came here for a flip and i get the flip. good job.
This was a cool video. Speaks a lot for the strength of that frame! And for those who didn’t know, this happened 7 years ago, minus the backflip!
ua-cam.com/video/gvL1agpqwvE/v-deo.html
I like the bike but I would put flat bars on it and change the brake leavers Suicide bars 😬
Then would a xc would be better basically?
That would actually be so sick, I might do the same! Just had to try with the droppers for a laugh!
@Sam Reynolds no one can say your not a good sport well done Sam 👏 👍🏾
Yes Sam! :)
You could backflip anything Sam. Could be a new segment. Can Sam backflip ....?
