Guitarist Shinji "Wazzy" Wajima is dressed as a Meiji era professor.(Late 1800's into the the early 1900's). Bassist Kenichi Suzuki is a death-touched Buddhist monk. Drummer Nobu Nakajima is dressed as a Yakuza. All three can and do sing lead as well, in fact Nobu has a really impressive set of pipes, although he sings lead pretty sparingly. Most of their songs are about traditional Japanese literature/legends, Buddhist philosophy, and classic horror like HP Lovecraft.

The traditional socks and sandals worn in the video are called tabi and zori, respectively. Zori are made from rice straw or wood and typically worn with kimonos for formal occasions. The tabi are specially made with the split between the big toe and the smaller toes so you can wear the sandal comfortably. Japanese footwear is extremely varied and honestly really cool. I highly recommend you research them if you're interested in acquiring some.

Ningen Isu was known by few outside and even inside Japan but are on the road for 30 years, many albums. Baterist is sick, Vocalist/guitarist shereds the heck out of the guitar. They're legendary! PS: Ken-ichi Suzuki is the best bass player I ever heard. He uses distortions, runs and slides no one does or expects.

i think maybe "heartless" is an incorrect translation...maybe it should be disheartened. because scat is supposed to be happy singing, imitating almost a trompet in jazz.

The thing that caught me off guard about your video is that in the "heat of battle" you exclaimed that, "it's like Motley Crue" which tells me two things:
    1) You understand the gravity of the Mack Truck that just ran your ass over, and
    2) You just might be a hell of a lot more intelligent and musically studied than most people of your generation.
These are good things, and let me explain why. I was 12 years old when 'Shout At The Devil' dropped. And let me tell you; there was NOTHING like that in the entire known universe at the time. It was Wham, Duran Duran, Glass Tiger, and Crap Supper all fucking day and night on radio and MTV. Yeah, RATT was fun, heavy, and cool, and they certainly helped to open the door.
But Motley was just a completely different animal for the time. It's hard to put into words the effect that they had on kids like myself and millions of others at the time, maybe the closest thing you could compare it to was the KISS Army back in 76/77 ( of which I was a proud soldier ). But the Crue was able to tap into a march darker and far more rebellious element that made them unstoppable once the youth en masse' got a taste. EVERYONE across a decade+ of age difference was heavily affected by that band. And it's easy now to forget that when the guys are decades older and the "live" show just ain't what it was. A perfect band at the perfect time was Motley Crue. No more, no less.
As to Ningen Isu, well, what can I say? The video had a profound effect on me. And when I finally saw the lyrics, that just sealed the deal. I'm gearing up to play again with a Brother of mine, our bond going on 33 years. We're going to use the technology available now that we didn't have in the early 1990's, and we're going to finish what we started. We'll either win this war or die fighting. I'm good with either.
I like you, youngster. I do believe I shall subscribe to your channel. Shabbat Shalom, and have a blessed day my new friend!
    -J.

椅子 isu (silent u) - chair

The main chorus, “shabba dabba dee-um” doesn’t mean anything in either Japanese or English. It’s scat….nonsense words said in rhythm. Think of the song “Scatman” (bee dap ba da ba bop, dee dap ba da ba bop). This is a metal version of the same thing, scat. The concept of scat originated with jazz music.

I could 100% LISTEN to these guys music. It was totally badass. You don't even have to know what the words mean to enjoy it (like opera). But SEEING them is too much of a sharp juxtaposition for me. It's almost too distracting from the music. I'm definitely checking more of their music out.

Gooday Alex. First time, I am writing to you from Japan. Thank you for your great reactions always and I have been watching you for a while by now...I am 53 years old and I have been enjoying Iron Maiden, Dio, Rush, The Killers, Mutemath, etc...and at my age it is hard to become a big fan of any bands these days. I am Japanese but never interested in any Japanese bands or singers until recently. Anyway, please check out few songs from My First Story (MFS). I guarantee you 100% you would enjoy them. Songs you need to check are FukaGyaku Replace, Mukoku, and Reviver. These are up-beat, tempo changes, catchy and beautiful, energetic, super technical, fantastic guitar riffs and unreal drumming techniques, great vocals, and most importantly, songs are brilliant....MFS is just about reaching to super arena class band anytime soon...I just wanted to see your reaction on MFS....please. Cheers
