These guys have been around for like 30-40 years, and never made it big. They lived in cheap one room apartments for most of their lives because that's all they could afford. When Japanese metal started being recognized because of BabyMetal, Band-Maid, and others, they started finally getting the recognition they deserve. I have so much respect for them. They could have given up so many times, but they held on to their dreams. And it's finally starting to pay off for them.
@@raistlin906 My favorite songs NAMAHAGE The colour out of space The Caterpillar Great King of terror Voice of nothing Baptism Before the dawn Blasphemy Toshishun March of the Gods Ringo no namida ... and many many more :)
I’m a 54yr old metal head. Black Sabbath was the band that started me on my metal journey. This band IS THE Japanese Black Sabbath as far as I’m concerned. Absolutely amazing 🤟
These guys are true veterans of metal, they’ve been rocking out for around 30 years. Just love the way they pay no attention to conventional song writing, they can spend 2 minutes just on an intro to a song. They rock out the way it should be done 🤟🤟🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Wow! So glad you found these guys. Pure gem. We cannot consider Japanese music without mentioning Ningen Isu, and cannot consider contemporary quality rock/metal without knowing them. Twenty-odd albums and over three decades in, shame the world outside Japan don't know them more. Saw these guys in 2012 in Tokyo, they are of course just immense live too! Exceptional characters also. Where else do you get a band with a late 19th century academic, a Yakuza wannabe and a Buddhist monk for members!?....oh, kudos for choosing the subtitles, their lyrics are always profound!
The same thing happened to me the first time I heard them, they have a presence, good lyrics, rhythm changes, guitar solos, excellent musicians, all of them... simply extraordinary!!!
Now that's how every metal head should react when they first hear Ningen Isu! I know I did. This is your first step into a whole new world of heavy metal, man. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
I was wondering when you’d get round to these amazing musicians. They have been around for decades but never had major success! After 40 years, this song finally woke people up. It reminds me of old school, 70s bands like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Glad you enjoyed it so much. 👍 🤘🦊🤘
Love this band, his vocals are /chefkiss, powerful and clean Also, this song being the song that brought world wide attention onto them, with its lyrics, kismet
The best line I have seen about these guys is... "When you tell your Japanese father (the drummer) that he knows nothing about good music, so he and your grandfather (the guitarist) and the spirit of his father (the bassist) then sit you down and teach you the way of the samurai"
Yes. Yes! I had the same reaction. Unbelievable! They put most to shame. Too freaking cool! 🥰🥰🥰 I don't even listen to metal much anymore...but id get tickets!! 😜👊
about damn time man! :) I love Shinji Wajima (the guitarist and vocalist here, he doesn't sing all their songs, others have the bassist on lead, a few even the drummer). That guy is so inspirational! Also they all just seem like great guys to hang out with. Kinda like that cool uncle, you know? :)
There was a weird video from an usual japanese tv show with Shinji Wajima (main voice and guitar) doing a funny guitar battle against Kanami from Bandmaid, sadly no more on UA-cam but maybe you can find it somewhere else :D
Yes, we oldsters can rock too. This group was my introduction to Japanese rock back in '90 or '91. Glad you found them. They are still going strong! Think of them as Band Maid's grand dads. I want to see your reaction when Ken-ichi is the vocal lead... it is a bit like hitting Buck Tick Kuchizuki for the first time.
Been listening to this song for a few years now and your reaction confirms to me what I thought, by and far the greatest song to ever come out of Japan/Asia! You got my sub Mr Rock N Roll !
I'm with you 100%...This is how metal should sound in my opinion...these guys have been around for 30+ years and haven't lost their edge....check out Toshisun from their latest album....Also, if you want to try another different Japanese band, I highly recommend Dizzy Sunfist...a power pop/ punk band that has a truckload of punchy, fun songs...Try 'No Answer', it's sort of a metal, ska, punk mashup that rocks hard....cheers!
Prosím, vlasů máš dost - nenos pokrývku hlavy v místnosti - je to kapku teplé a s rockem to nesouvisí ani náhodou! 😉 Please, you have enough hair - don't wear your headgear in the room - it's drop dead warm and it has nothing to do with rock! 😉
Pronunciation: ning-gen (the g in gen is like in get) ee-soo (like saying the name of the letter E, soo sounds like soup without the p) It means "Human Chair". Japanese is pretty easy to pronounce (mostly, the R sound is an exception). All vowels have the same sounds everywhere.
Wow, I've been missing out, 'cause these guys were pretty damn awesome! And your reactions to music remains the best. So where are we at to you reaction to Meat Loaf...? (My top 3 recommendations remains: - Bat Out of Hell - I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) - Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are)
Yup they're old, been at it 30 years, just got traction not that long ago. If they were British they could be Ozzy era Sabbath. And the backstory on their outfits and characters is pure 70s. But all their music is great. Great reaction too! By the way nice to see you can properly headbang now!
Hehe I heard this song so many times, it's really good, now that I see you react to it, Oh hey it's the loud dude reacting to Ningen Isu! Oh I gotta see this :D He's gonna love it.
This deserves to be "right there" it's a shame I didn't find them sooner. Do more Ningen Isu, I reccomend Namahage, Toshishun, Imomushi and Heisei Asaborake for a good spectrum.
For me first it was Babymetal then came Band Maid and LOVEBITES then ALDIOUS and Nemophila and then these guys popped up on my recommendations and boy oh boy these bands from Japan are kicking serious a** but as for NINGEN ISU these guys remind me so much about ZZ TOP and I love it
Is there an instrumental version of this kicking around anywhere? I have nothing against the vocals, loved the whole thing, would just love to hear a purely instruMENTAL version.
When I first saw this it went, wow old guys, then holy crap their good, then the lyrics are so relatable, then they are amazing, they lead you through this 8 or so minute long song and you come out the other side like I want more, one of my favorite bands.
Watch NINGEN ISU (something like “neen-gen-ee-soo” [the “g” is hard]) playing a cover of Bread Fan, by Budgie, a major influence of Metallica, more than 30 years ago. ua-cam.com/video/lZD9QVYK9Cg/v-deo.html
Watching you react to Heartless Scat, I'm afraid to see you react to Namahage. The tone of the guitar, the menacing expression of the opening riff might give you a stroke.

The guitars he uses are exclusive from the same company used by Angus Young of AC/DC.
I hear these Guys are Rockin Japan since 1984 or something.Which makes them the Japanese Metallica or Black Sabbath
