"..if you want to make good looking art. Like me. And my ever expanding lineup of fluffy cringe monsters." Buddy I'm one minute in, stop making me laugh so hard
I swear, your awkwardness is in no way detrimental to what you are teaching. Your humor adds class to what is, in essence, a relatively dry subject. Kinda endearing actually.
Melvin Shaw so agreed! I've been drawing for a couple months now from absolutely no skills and your videos stick with me more than any other channel's.
i think a good characteristic for someone trying to explain something is a little bit of humor or awkwardness it really humanizes them making them less imposing
Holy shit, this actually opened my eyes a little bit on how I can go about drawing. Keep up your work man, you’re a really big help to beginners like me!
Your tutorials and tips look incredibly helpful to people into drawing artwork. And your commentary during your videos are silly and entertaining. Keep it up! ^_^
Same, I wish I had some way to do it digitally, but on paper I suppose it does have it’s perks... One of them is that you can take it some places you can’t take a digital art program.
I think you're doing fine. I like your kind of comedy, it fits you. It gives your videos something more then just your average "How to draw" videos. Jazza can be awkward cringy sometimes and thousands of people like him. Point is just continue what you're doing, or don't it's up to you.
I agree with you, Thinking with shapes isn't really the best, thinking and drawing with solids is a lot better as you get a better idea of where and how the object interacts in the scene.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ok but this was super helpful!! Sometimes I ignore the basics even after drawing (seriously) for 3ish years. So this is super helpful for everyone, and I'll probably share this video with a few people. (You know, the ones who scream HOW DO YOU DRAWWAEAWAA)
Hay dude as someone who is just starting to draw again and take it more seriously my girlfriend recommended your first “how to” video and it was really helpful and this one even more so.....I love your personality because it’s really relatable and your teaching is second to none both being helpful and entertaining.....so thank you for helping me out and probably others than me with this stuff.......I’m glad your my first teacher and hat my into to all of this is you........keep being the way you are and don’t change because it’s awesome and your awesome and your art is awesome Thank you Sincerely some random 16 year old wanna be artist
“Some random 16 year old wanna be artist” who is likely better than me. I’m TOLD I’m fairly talented, but I’m like “HOW DO U NOT SEE THE MISTAKES??????”
I just love watching artists draw in general but watching a (surprisingly useful and well said) tutorial filled with self loathing commentary? Now that's entertaining, at least to another worthless furry like myself. So thanks man, I look forward to your next video!
Best page flip ever. Videos like these are so helpful, and I can't thank you enough for another great video on drawing! When it comes to criticizing the video in a whole, you just sound nervous. I would imagine it gets worked out the more you do this, but besides that it great listening to ya and hearing your tips!
P.S I handed in the wrong folder in art and my teacher saw my Furry Drawings... O.O (she gave me the weirdest look today when I walked in art class...)
Also a furry artist and I just want to clarify one section of the video. Usually when someone tells you to break elements of your illustration down into shapes, the intent is to simplify the features from a composition perspective, so that your eye isn't distracted by all the details, and I think volume is one of those details. The book framed ink is pretty good for breaking down an illustration into it's compositional elements. If you're trying to create 3 dimensional space I suggest starting with the basic shape and adding in the volume later through darks and lights. Though you yourself already seem like you have a pretty great handle on this whole art thing, I think 3D space and designing should both be compartmentalized in separate sections! It has to work as a design/ silhuoette first, and it is much easier to change when in two dimensions than once you've rendered values and lighting onto it. Though... I suppose knowing when something works as a silhuoette is a complex and nebulous thing in it's own right... Sorry the only reason I comment is because I find thinking about three dimensional volume at the same time you're designing a character or a picture, a bit overloading. And I really do like to watch people improve! I hope I didn't step on any toes or walk all over your perspective on art with my own. xD
I've never drawn a base using volumes like this before and I feel like you've opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities with my art. Thank you!!
In 30 minutes you taught me far more and far better than my art teacher last year did in a whole "year." Not only did you teach basic shapes, you taught how to *use* those shapes, and what *mindset* to use when doing so. In 10 minutes you taught me more perspective than my art teacher tried for 5 months, and with some humor to spice it up. Seriously, amazing job dude!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been looking for some good tutorials on composition for so long now, and this one is just too good! I love your way of teaching stuff, really, and your art style is really fluffing adorable!
"At some point you're gonna get so small that it's just unnecessary to do it anymore and you've got a finished piece." That line made me feel like i could actually draw a masterpiece right here, right now, in my bed, at 3 in the morning. *That's* inspiration.
Fun fact: Pocari, even though the suiter is female, The soda roo is actually male, and was meant to be more tough but over time the personality changed to fit Pocari's suiter more Update on this: Pocari has recently made Pocari's gender androgenous
I've been wanting to draw a lot more but I've been struggling with getting this whole concept to stick, but your explanation / demonstration was incredible! It makes so much sense now, thank you so much :D
I just want to say, thank you for posting this. I'm 21 years old and in college planning on earning a bachelor's degree in fine arts and I'm still struggling with my drawing technique after 5 years of drawing. I hope this video will be helpful for me when I start drawing again.
You don't sound like a loser, I love your commentaries and I'm 100% sure I'm not the only one u_u Awesome video of very basic things that not many youtubers tackle as a beginner thing (not even some teachers tbh)! Thanks for making it
Omg you're the best art teacher I've ever had. Unlike everyone else you are entertaining to keep me intrigued and the way you show us what to do makes it seem like a tangible goal to reach. I love your videos so much and can't wait to improve with what you teached me
Well you just explained the true process of drawing with a trained eye. The gesture drawing part is where I had trouble understanding (like it's another language) and then there's a furry who explained the furry language of art. Thank you.
"Think in volumes not 2d shapes" My brain: *tries* Also my brain: Wait this changes EVERYTHING *successfully draws an arm where the forearm is facing the viewer.* My brain: This makes perspective SO much easier *draws the same arm but at a different angle* My brain: If you can turn a cylinder and a box in your head then you can turn an arm in your head *tries to shade the arm* My brain: Ok that didn't go so well but if i can figure out how light falls on 3d shapes I'll be well on my way. *looks at what i accomplished, not caring that it looks like complete garbo and realizes that I've been making art WAY harder than it needs to be* *Brain proceeds to have a meltdown when it realizes that liking the video more than once just unlikes the video* Edit: The tip you gave about drawing form your shoulder really helped too. I need to practice to get more precise at it, but I broke my chicken scratch habit because of it.

Honestly, your art is stunning. I too often saw pictures I really like and they all had strongly colored (or no) outlines so I somehow thought I had to do the same. But you proved me that black/dark outlines can also look fantastic! I draw for several years now but I'm kinda stuck since ~1-2 years. My outlines often just look wrong making the whole character looking not dynamic at all (more dead inside) So if you are ever bored, I would love to have some more tips! (Especially at doing poses and not weird looking outlines (wait didn't you do that oh well)) Anyways, very interesting video and tips! Keep going!
Outside of your other videos, this is by far the most useful video on drawing I have ever seen. Even so, I would probably consider this the most helpful of the videos you've made. As someone who has made tremendous progress over the past few years, in many ways as a result of your advice, thank you.
I was struggeling with sketches, so this video helped me a lot. And now I realized how much waterdrops and flowerparts are in my drawings XD Keep up drawing. You are amazing.
I've been in this fandom and drawing anthro animals for the last 2 years, but there was something i was missing and it was the action lines. so this really helped! This also helped me learn more about perspective and the importance of shapes!
please do another tutorial like this! or maybe even a series if you can. these are actually helpful vids! Thanks for the advice! Keep up the great work too!
Wow. I've had so much trouble with drawing bodies but in the end, they're just combined three dimensional shapes. It makes it look a million times easier and I've been completely oblivious to it. Very helpful. 👍
This is by far the best tutorial I've seen on dynamic poses/drawing in general (And I've seen a lot!) I really like the method for drawing you use, it's REALLY helpful since my biggest struggle is getting the arms and legs to look normal with the rest of the body. Keep up the good work!
This was so helpful! I actually used to only draw a circle with the perspective lines, and that was about all I did to make proportions (this is a point mentioned in your beginner tips video). From then on in the drawing, I'd just draw without really putting any thought into it. I've seen this video now, and your video was very simple and easy to follow along to. I managed to make a character look a lot more natural than in my previous drawings. All of your videos thus far have really helped me as a beginner artist who is inspired by good artists like you! Keep up the good work! ^-^
This was actually R E A L L Y damn helpful. I've always wanted to learn and whenever I tried I was always told "use spheres, cylinders, blah blah blah" but it was NEVER explained to me why or where they are placed, how they should be oriented, or any of that. THIS COVERS THAT and i'm tickled about it. Thank you!
When I skipped you doing the blue and white wolf shapes you said "ppl are probably skipping the video" i was like "ya..." but it was perfect timing though X3
Honestly, watching you do the volumes was so relaxing. I'm trying to get anything to look okay to me. I draw a line in an empty space and I"m like this is wrong! and then I watch this and I for some reason relax seeing someone do such nice lines
I know this is going to be a long comment (on a video more than 2 years old) but I feel like this is something I have to say. It's people like you that keep people like me respecting the furry fandom. I myself am not a furry and I can't lie that I do cringe just a little when I find out someone I know is a furry. I don't immediately write them off however because of people like you. You have shown incredible self-awareness and understanding of the perception of the furry fandom and you have clearly embraced it. You have also taught me more about drawing AND given me more motivation to draw in this 30 minute video than many teachers do in a whole school year. I feel like this "Lines and Volumes" topic should be in every drawing class, especially beginners classes. If I were an art teacher I certainly would start with this. Anyway all I'm trying to say is I respect you and thank you for this fantastic video. TLDR: This guy is a fantastic example of the good part of the furry fandom and he teaches art better than most high school art teachers.
Honestly the best video on this topic. I have multiple drawing books (and I mean textbook type things) and even they couldn’t help me as much as this video did, especially on perspective.
Well you're really not looking. ua-cam.com/users/ProkoTVvideos Proko has some of the bet anatomy videos you're ever going to find, and he spends a lot of time making his videos very easy to digest and suitable for anyone of any skill level. ua-cam.com/users/marcobuccivideos Bucci's _10 minutes to be a better painter_ series is possibly the most concise and impressive series of art tutorials I've ever come across. He packages complex and high level artist techniques and theories into easily understood videos. ua-cam.com/channels/7mef0Kk06LrLx__lats9cA.htmlvideos Mohrbacher has some really good technical tips for artists and has an amazing style. Thats all just off the top of my head, there are literally thousands more on youtube. You just haven't looked. Edit: Brushboost, formerly cubebrush I think. Their newer stuff is aimed at getting you to subscribe to their tutorial site (which would be an amazing resource if you can afford it.) But his older videos still give a great introduction to fundamentals and process. And there's still a ton of free resources such as brushsets on his site. ua-cam.com/users/bluefley00videos
Thank you so much for making these videos! I absolutely love the way you go over everything. Your jokes are great man, I felt most of them as an "artist" myself (especially yelling at photoshop error messages.) Art classes in school tell you these things early on and most people seem to just ignore em, I'm glad you put this much time into highlighting WHY it's so important.
I know this video is a bit old, but the fact that you could explain it in a way that someone with no art/drawing experience at all is very impressive and I actually learned quite a bit just from watching this video!
this is actually kinda helpful but I gatta ask, does this also apply to traditional drawings? anyways, keep up the good work and I hope you're having a great day/night. ✌
I love your videos! They are very helpful for me, and you put things in a way that is easy to implement in a general way that promotes people to be unique. Keep up the good work, and I cannot wait for your next video.
Hey, putting yourself down is funny, but you’re really not a bad person! You taught me a ton! I just got a tablet for Christmas and I’ve been learning how to use it, and you really helped me!
Listen I loved this video,it was super helpful and your humor for one was good but it could be improved. Also you art is amazing and so are you, keep going strong.
you should make a tutorial with heads. many people, including myself need help with drawing heads, like the ears, eyes, and muzzle placement with angles
i have just started drawing and was looking for a good technique/buildup for drawings and this helped sooo much, i am goin to use your tips in probably almost all of my drawings, thank tou for teaching me more technique than 3 years of art class could ever hope to do
I picked up drawing today and I'm pretty sure this is exactly what a friend of mine said I was going to focus on when learning. Guess I found a good reference video, thank you ^_^
This idea of using shapes and volumes to make a drawing has always been one I've thought of as stupid, or a waste of time. But seeing you break it down and telling why it's used, as well as better ways to use it, I think I'll try it in the future, whenever I'm not in the midst of writing. If anything it'll definitely help with proportions on my humans, because even though I make stick skeletons, I can never seem to get certain parts right, mostly the hips and arms. Thank you for the good tutorial video, honestly one of the best ones I've seen, because I cannot stand watching these art tutorial videos most of the time. Don't know why, they're probably just rehashes of stuff I know, but this one taught me some new stuff.
Goredeus I used to have the same question. It might help if you look a few Blue Eyes White dragon pics. You know, when it opens it’s mouth to fire white lightning, try copying the teeth. This should help your perspective a little(I hope sorry if I’m wrong.)
I’ve been drawing for about 4 years now and I’m still learning and getting better till this day! This video helped a lot and Made my drawings better !!! Thanks 🙏
It's my first time on the channel but you're pretty entertaining to me! Don't beat yourself up about it. (Also as an experienced artist I have to say I'm getting a real laugh at how amature my bases are compared to your technique, thanks for the helpful video!)
"..if you want to make good looking art. Like me. And my ever expanding lineup of fluffy cringe monsters."
Buddy I'm one minute in, stop making me laugh so hard
The only furry i know that agree that furrys are cringe lol
If you ever do that voice while we're in a call, i'm calling security

Im gonna call 911 cause my ears might explode.

BetaEtaDelota AHH A FURRY... Jk love you furrys
True. I lgighled so much during this its just so sweet and genuine
It keeps my 5 second attention span at bay and encourages me to continue watching.
Totally agree, I love this guys stuff lol
Holy shit, this actually opened my eyes a little bit on how I can go about drawing. Keep up your work man, you’re a really big help to beginners like me!
Lol I can relate
Actually this is very helpful for experienced imbeciles like me too 😅
My dyslexia made the title look like ''Basics of Drowning'' I had to do a double take.
Step 1: get in the water
Step 2: dont breath
Oh sorry lol
it helps if you imagine that you're a fish while doing it
Yuzuru Bytes 😂😂😂
Why does it sound like something I'd watch.
Your tutorials and tips look incredibly helpful to people into drawing artwork. And your commentary during your videos are silly and entertaining. Keep it up! ^_^
I use a pencil, paper, and my ever growing sadness to draw
Same honestly.
Same, I wish I had some way to do it digitally, but on paper I suppose it does have it’s perks... One of them is that you can take it some places you can’t take a digital art program.
xX_dank_mlg_dragon_Xx your not alone ;-;
Omg same we have so much in common!
wow same

I like using Microsoft Paint Pro sometimes.
ZzedeeZ I would recommend Krita or paint tool sai
It's my favorite program personally, as long as you update the software every February 30th
I like Microsoft Windows 3.1 paint program better.
Hey that is only exclusive to Crowne Prince!
Cewlai
The first time I read it, I thought it said Minecraft .
Oh my god you're becoming my favourite channel dangerously quick
I just love watching artists draw in general but watching a (surprisingly useful and well said) tutorial filled with self loathing commentary? Now that's entertaining, at least to another worthless furry like myself.

THIS WAS SUCH A BIG HELP! ive never drawn anything really because i just didnt know how, thanks so much, and your art is AMAZING
please do another tutorial like this! or maybe even a series if you can. these are actually helpful vids! Thanks for the advice! Keep up the great work too!
Ironically, I love your personality and you honestly seem like a chill person
This actually helped me so much, I'm even surprised.
I’m already dying, and then 2:20 just finished me off. Cmon man XD
Lantti never before has my attention to a drawing tutorial been grabbed so quickly. Hell, Brittney and 10% off was enough to hook me 😂
*when I found this channel 3 years ago, I never would’ve found myself rewatching his older videos*
What a life I live in
(That’s a gud thing btw)
Why do I love the freaking intro so much😂😂
because it's art.
@@ImaginativelyUnimaginative *Art is meant to be painful, right?*
These types of videos have greatly helped me improve my drawing skills...so thanks for making them
The intro was pretty funny.
It's how you feel when you go to Starbucks! XD
I draw a line in an empty space and I"m like this is wrong! and then I watch this and I for some reason relax seeing someone do such nice lines
why am I here?
I draw cars and mechanical pieces for "living" ...
Mino Assal well mechanics can be furrys
Why is anyone here?

It seems like a ton of furries are engineers
TLDR: This guy is a fantastic example of the good part of the furry fandom and he teaches art better than most high school art teachers.
the beginning of this video is funny as hell
Honestly the best video on this topic. I have multiple drawing books (and I mean textbook type things) and even they couldn’t help me as much as this video did, especially on perspective.
It's sad the only good drawing teacher I can find is a furry
Thanks?
Imaginatively Unimaginative You're welcome?

To this day this comment still confuses me...
Well you're really not looking.

Proko has some of the bet anatomy videos you're ever going to find, and he spends a lot of time making his videos very easy to digest and suitable for anyone of any skill level.

Bucci's _10 minutes to be a better painter_ series is possibly the most concise and impressive series of art tutorials I've ever come across. He packages complex and high level artist techniques and theories into easily understood videos.

Mohrbacher has some really good technical tips for artists and has an amazing style.
Thats all just off the top of my head, there are literally thousands more on youtube. You just haven't looked.
Edit: Brushboost, formerly cubebrush I think. Their newer stuff is aimed at getting you to subscribe to their tutorial site (which would be an amazing resource if you can afford it.)
But his older videos still give a great introduction to fundamentals and process. And there's still a ton of free resources such as brushsets on his site.

*Fluffy cringe monsters*
My new way of saying furry to furrys when i dont want to say it
Hell Imma furry and this is pretty accurate
@Lauren O'Quinn lmao
*Fluffy Cool Animals*
Yup that’s us lol
Man this is the single most helpful video I've watched in this topic ever, it just made something in my brain click, thank you
The basic furry voice. plus the blind people joke was great
This is the stuff I love! You tell us what we're doing, how to do it, and *why* it's important. Thank you so much!
Thankkk you!! now i can draw decently good.
I know this video is a bit old, but the fact that you could explain it in a way that someone with no art/drawing experience at all is very impressive and I actually learned quite a bit just from watching this video!
I love your videos, they have really helped me I’m art.😁
Sorry I meant “In my art”

Hello art
Hello art. I'm box of cox.
Hi art, I’m dad!
I could never understand the sketches people start off with that are just shapes until this video
It's so simple, I just needed someone to guide me
this is actually kinda helpful but I gatta ask, does this also apply to traditional drawings?
anyways, keep up the good work and I hope you're having a great day/night. ✌
Yes, this applies to any and all drawing media.
I love your videos! They are very helpful for me, and you put things in a way that is easy to implement in a general way that promotes people to be unique. Keep up the good work, and I cannot wait for your next video.
"Fluffy cringe monsters"
*I BEG TO DIFFER!*
Hey, putting yourself down is funny, but you’re really not a bad person! You taught me a ton! I just got a tablet for Christmas and I’ve been learning how to use it, and you really helped me!

What, 🅱️ecky?
Listen I loved this video,it was super helpful and your humor for one was good but it could be improved.
Also you art is amazing and so are you, keep going strong.
Thanks this was the best video i could find on this topic(for me)
Your literally one of the most adorable guy you tubers I've ever watched. Keep up the great videos!
you should make a tutorial with heads. many people, including myself need help with drawing heads, like the ears, eyes, and muzzle placement with angles
My problem is I can't draw legs and necks. Like. The two things that are really important, is impossible
i have just started drawing and was looking for a good technique/buildup for drawings and this helped sooo much, i am goin to use your tips in probably almost all of my drawings, thank tou for teaching me more technique than 3 years of art class could ever hope to do
Jerk, I was drinking water during the intro! XD
I picked up drawing today and I'm pretty sure this is exactly what a friend of mine said I was going to focus on when learning.
Guess I found a good reference video, thank you ^_^
10% off is a good deal.
takes off 40 cents, making it only 4 dollars!!! HOLY SHIT I NEED TO GO SOMEWHENRE!!!! BYYYYEEEEEEE!! **runs to starbucks**
Tysm, I couldn't find any fun-ish videos explaing this. Now I finally understand how the hell to use these things and why I'm learning it
“This is gunna go like 2 blind people trying to have sex.”
Basically me drawing before seeing this tutorial

Unless your a normie… that’s cool
second vid I saw from this guy, already my favorite channel ever.
I'm REALLY bad at drawing open mouths (dragons) do you have any tips for that?
Goredeus I used to have the same question. It might help if you look a few Blue Eyes White dragon pics. You know, when it opens it’s mouth to fire white lightning, try copying the teeth. This should help your perspective a little(I hope sorry if I’m wrong.)
Ok I could compliment this and how good a teacher you are all day.
Pocari as a character is a male but the person inside the fursuit is a female
I believe Pocari is meant to be gender less or non-binary
I’ve been drawing for about 4 years now and I’m still learning and getting better till this day! This video helped a lot and Made my drawings better !!! Thanks 🙏
“Murder is bad” Hank Green
It's my first time on the channel but you're pretty entertaining to me! Don't beat yourself up about it. (Also as an experienced artist I have to say I'm getting a real laugh at how amature my bases are compared to your technique, thanks for the helpful video!)
Yo brotendo what program do you using for this? Ima in a pickle and need to do a peace on the quick.
