Idk why but it reminds me of the theme in "Man I wanna be," by Chris Young & "Waitin on a woman," by Brad Paisley (which had Andy Griffith btw). Anyone else agree?
this song ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes. Poor Joe and Joe's brother. Joe tried to be on time just once in his life and it cost him his life. Morgan Freeman's narration makes it an even better music video.
I have a lot of people waiting on me in heaven. 2 sets of grandparents, my mom and dad, my sister, and a nephew that never got to breathe on earth plus several aunts and uncles. I came close to joining them many times (I didn't win the genetic lottery you might say) but I am still kicking. Life is short, cherish the ones you have.
This is the SADDEST song!! This song can EVEN make a 27yr old guy like me get all emotional. This is why I LOVE Country Music sooo much!! No other genre of music can move me as much as a good 'ole Country Song! :)
this song make me cry every time i listend to it. I cry my eyes out every time it says i didn't get to tell my brother goodbye. i didn't get to tell my grandma good bye. we were closer than me and my mothwer was. its been a long 2 years and i still cry for not getting to say good bye. rip grandma.
My mom had this cd when it came out, blasted it every damn day for probably 90 days straight. As much as it drove me crazy because I was a teenager into hip hop and rock, I love every song to this day. He played in my town of Wilkes barre PA at the woodlands probably over ten years ago. I regret not taking my mom, but we didn't know he was there. Idk if she liked his music, or if she just thought he was hot. Or both....
This song released shortly after my baby brother was killed in a freak auto accident. We didn't have the privilege of growing up together and we were both young adults enjoying our new relationship and just like that, he was gone. I loved a state away, and at that time, we didn't have cell phones. The police in my town told everyone they didn't know where we were, so I found out about him passing almost a month later. I still haven't forgiven myself. I miss you so so much, Little Joe.
I remember when he used to play in Columbia, MO then stop at the Holiday Inn Airport in St. Louis to stay the night with his band. I worked there at the time and they were always so nice to me. I still have the CD and letter of thanks that he left 15 years ago. He deserves much more recognition!
We lost My brother he got hit by the train years ago . .there was 6 in the car and all deceased. This song brings back so many memories good and bad but I still listen to it..Our family was devastated .
I havent heard this song in years, something made me think about it today and it stuck in my head till I could remember it, so glad I refound this great song
When my cousin was 3 or 4 he use to sing this song so much and "I'll walk" and he's 7 now with a 4 year old brother and I hope this song shows them how fast someone can be gone
When I was 16 years old, way before tv recording was available, me and my brother would wait at the house on Friday evenings for this music video to come on. We would watch it and go out for the evening...nothing ever bad, just country boy fun...riding dirt roads..hanging out with friends..drinking cold beers! I served in the Marine Corps from 07’ to 12’..when times got really bad I always went to this song and my older brother for comfort! Great song, nothing matters more than family! Friends come and go but my brother has always been there for me when I needed him! Semper Fi!
Yeah I lost my brother Joe lewallen in 2000 he was killed in a car wreck in Florida n left behind two loving sons n a girlfriend who should of been his wife as long as they were together I'll miss u Joe. Ur brother. Billy lewallen
worked with a guy named joe when this song came out. me and old joe became real good friends. lifes moved on and we went separate ways several years ago. old joe passed away a few months ago. i miss that guy, RIP Bondo Kidd
I don't know what it is about this song but every time I hear it, it reminds me of my dad. I know its about his brother Joe but to me that guy named Joe is all about my father who I have waited my whole life for. Only in this video that guy named Joe is actually me, to my sister and his brother Joe is our father. Its a story of brothers, yet in the back story it is my sister waiting on me.
Recently, a friend of my father's lost two daughters and a great-granddaughter in a house fire. My father, mother and I went to the funeral service. Listening to this song makes me think of them. It almost brings me to tears. G. Matthew Hall
I use this song to describe my ex who is apty named Joe. I used to tease him until I realized that at the end it talks about the brother dying in a car wreck. We just had a young man pass away about a year ago and now this song is hard to hear
" Most of us keep waiting till our time here is over. Why? Becuase it matters.....We focus so much on what we're waiting for that, we miss or forget to appreciate what we got. Truth is there will always be something we need or want. Something we feel we have to have. Yearning for something missing. We could wonder how long its gonna take or how much must one endure. Or we could wonder, are we just wasting our lives? Waitin on Joe." How true is that.Only Morgan Freeman could tell it like it is!
My brother was killed on December 23,1976. I was 11. I never got to tell him goodbye. I just wish he was here now that mama and daddy are gone. Thankfully my mama introduced me to Jesus.
30 something years of my life spent in Greenville, MS..where this video was shot....been gone for 7 years now & couldnt wait to get away. After seeing this video just brings back memories of that place ..who would have ever thought that...cool to see Steve go back & make a video from where he is from & use the locals on top of that. Deinately miss Shipley's Dohnuts...we have one here...but its NOWHERE close to the one back home. My parents still live there...so we get back every now & then.
What a great song. Amazing, deep lyrics! And how about Morgan Freeman-that guy just has a way about him that makes you feel something! im real close with my older brother, when i hear this song i just choke up-cant imagine not having him around. Scares me. Songs like this just arent played on the radio enough.
i'm always waiting on my younger brother but i thank the lord that I still have him here to wait on thank you god that i still have both of my brothers
OMG, I remeber my dad showing this song to me as a little girl, about nine years ago. I've been looking for this song for forever, but forgot who sang it and the title until I clicked on this from another video. Great song!
I first heard this song when I was 10. I first saw the video when I was 11, and never really listened to Morgan Freeman's part...just skipped to the song. I'm 15 now..and today was the first day I ever really paid attention to Morgan Freeman's intro...and I know this sounds cheesy...but it saved my life...all I can say is thank you Steve Azar for the song and thank you Morgan Freeman for your words. :)
ive watched this video sooo many times, and it still makes me cry :( it's beautiful and should have gotten more recognition then it did. steve is amazing.
This song reminds me of my friend lil’ Tommy Bearden. His name wasn’t joe, and he didn’t get killed by a train, but something about it makes me think of Tommy B
My wife got 2 brothers and she said if one them died bu getting hit by a train she would be torn up and know they died a painful way she is s glad to know that is brother not really dead
Anyone listening #2024??
between Steve Azar's great performance and voice & Morgan Freeman, this has to be one of the best country videos of all time
Far from it, but good video
Love this song!
You’re right!
Idk why but it reminds me of the theme in "Man I wanna be," by Chris Young & "Waitin on a woman," by Brad Paisley (which had Andy Griffith btw). Anyone else agree?

Me too, I couldn't remember the title, but knew it had something to do with Joe. So glad I found it!

It wasn't a car wreck; he died on the train tracks, because he was always late for the train.
Incredible song. My favorite country song video. Masterful.
" Most of us keep waiting till our time here is over. Why? Becuase it matters.....We focus so much on what we're waiting for that, we miss or forget to appreciate what we got.
