I remember as an adult my sister needing money and mom would have a promissory note ready, with an addendum on your life insurance policy (that she still paid on) simply in death or life she was gonna get all her money back with interest and still have some to bury you in the event you went before she did.
The few times I actually did loan people money I gave expecting to never see it back. Not giving towards a random $20 text for Uber or a phone bill. But if your kids need food or school supplies I’m happy to cover that.
I can't even do that anymore, someone asked for money for their kids and spent it on a bag. She didn't expect me to ask her kids if they got everything they wanted from the grocery store. Next time she asked for help I had Amazon send it over
