The AP Calc AB exam was infinitely easier compared to this. It feels like they don’t actually intend for you to do every single question. I have extra time and lord have mercy I don’t think I would survive without it. This is noting that I barely used it on the other exam I mentioned. These are just immediate thoughts after the exam so it might sound more jarring than it actually is.
Yeah I passed just with a 3 and a useless college physics credit with it too. If you take this class its necessary to do it in sophomore year, then take AP Physics 2, then take mechanics and electromagnetism. Actually I don't even remember which one was the equivalent for Physics with Applied Calculus it really just depends on whether or not the college takes it in the first place tbh. Actually do not even take the class at all and just do dual enrollment if you have access to it, the only useful ap class was Calc AB.
For those taking the test tomorrow (including me) please remeber that a single peice of paper doesnt decide your future and doesnt define you are. relax, finish studying and get some rest. Good luck everybody! :)
If you were to have two objects on top of a ramp, with one object having rotational kinetic energy and the other object only having translational kinetic energy, would there be a difference in their kinetic energies or total energy? Would they have the same speed at the bottom?
So let me try to clear up the question a bit because there are a lot of assumptions. Suppose I take two objects with the same mass and release them from the same height. The first object is a ball that rolls without slipping down the ramp. The second is a block that slides without friction down the ramp. Because there's no loss of energy, both objects+Earth system start with the same potential energy and should end with the same mechanical energy. The ball will have two forms of energy: rotational kinetic and translational kinetic. The block will only have translational kinetic. So they both end with the same total kinetic energy, but the block has more translational kinetic energy, and thus is moving faster. The ball has split it's energy between rotational kinetic and translational kinetic energy. Is that what you were asking?
@@AllenTsaoSTEMCoach Thank you for replying and yes, you answered my question. I was confused on that specific situation since my AP physics course focused on the mathematical aspect of these questions whereas the mcq on the exam oftentimes assesses on the conceptual ideas behind the physics. Just wanted those specific things clarified. thanks!
You can't bring one in. They provide a formula sheet at the front of the test booklet. secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/ap/ap-physics-1-equations-table.pdf
It's not given but you don't need to memorize it. However, you should understand the relationship so if I said there was a planet twice the mass of Earth but has the same radius, then you should be able to reason the acceleration due to gravity is 19.6 (or 20 m/s^2)

Do we get a paper for all the formulas? Like can we make one and bring one in with any information we might need on it?
