      @@Saai_Arav This channel is really good. But keep in mind that UA-cam alone won’t help you if you don’t practice the material. It would be a really good idea to practice old AP Physics tests released by Collegeboard. If you are willing to pay about $20, I would recommend the AP Physics Princeton Review Exam book. It comes in with lots of questions and free practice exams covering almost every unit. These helped some of my friends during high school. I personally watched UA-cam to get a good understanding and practiced by taking a few previous AP Physics exams. Hope this helps man

    48:17 how can the net force on the center of mass be Mg-T if T is exerted tangentially? Isn't all that T doing just rotation, not affecting the movement up/down?

    • @WeAreShowboat
      @WeAreShowboat  4 місяці тому +1

      T is both influencing the acceleration of the center of mass (since it’s a force) and the rotation around the center of mass (since it applies a torque). So T has to show up in both the regular Newton’s second law, and the angular version of Newton’s second law.

    55:00 why do you use rotational momentum (MLV) for a ball moving with linear motion?

    • @brownrice-zn6um
      @brownrice-zn6um 4 місяці тому

      cuz rod rotates so using rotational momentum for both makes it easier

    • @brian12463

      @@brownrice-zn6um but the ball is moving in a straight line so it has no rotational momentum, both before and after the collision.

      @@brian12463 A ball moving in a straight line has angular momentum as long as it is not heading straight for the axis. Counterintuitive but true.

      @@WeAreShowboat suppose the ball is heading in a straight path to the end of the stick with constant velocity and it is far away, like 10 meters away, does the ball have an angular momentum of MLV there?

    • @WeAreShowboat
      @WeAreShowboat  4 місяці тому +1

      @@brian12463 yes, as long as it’s heading directly perpendicularly into the rod. The real formula for the angular momentum of a point mass is r cross p, but this usually reduces to MRV
