@@Fighterpilot555 Code *33?* If Code 1 is routine response, Code 2 is ASAP response, and Code 3 is emergency response (lights and siren), what the heck is a Code 33?
Why don't they flatten that part of the rails the way it is in the middle of this intersection? Then paint a clearly visible arrow on this area so that anyone who has taken the wrong turn here can easily find the right way back.If a train has to stop or even an emergency stop is required, it also costs a lot of money.
There has to be something wrong with this intersection. With as many times as this happens. a Civil engineer needs to look at it and figure out what is wrong, then correct it.
@Bike Cycle If you look at it from ground view the tracks are up on a hill. I you are in a lower car you can not see the tracks and looks like you just need to make a left beyond the 1st intersection. Also the rod makes a 30 20 to 30 degree shift at that point too. Was looking at google car and google car has the big tower camera on the car. no imagine your self 5 feet below that point. Also the RXR markings on the street are extremely far away on the approach . Did not see a big yellow circle at the crossing with the RXR
They have made some changes, such as the white paint marking the road, but what they really should invest in are embedded fog lights like on I64 on Afton mountain that are activated at night.
Its cause when it's dark people dont realize the road is on the other side of two tracks and it is kinda hard to see but still people just need to open their eyes
What is frightenly ridiculous is so many people passing by, only one 4WD vehicle stops (don't know if offering help or just see, when it could tow it). Then two police cars arrive, everybody walking around, and doing just nothing. Finally the car on the tracks gets out of there easily by itself just using reverse gear. From 18:39 to 19:06. Is it really logical to have a car on the tracks for 27 minutes?
You can't turn left if your right tire is against the outside of the rail. Jockey the car back and forth while you move the car as far to the right as you can, then turn the wheels SHARPLY to theft, then drive left over the rails. This will usually work with front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars. (For rear-wheel-drive cars they can usually back up the way they came and go over the ledge of the pavement behind them.)
I actually want to go visit ashland now. and go have a fun filled chat with the local cops at the station, can't wait to hear what they have to say about all this.
Are these people driving blind? How can you NOT avoid turning onto the tracks? And it always be the southbound that gets hit the most. Never the northbound.
It seems like as many times as this happens the city would do some other than what they are doing now, because what they now only works for the tow truck company not the drivers
Okay. There MUST be some kind of design problem at this intersection that makes this so frequent. Has anyone in the local government bothered to do anything with signage? To check the colors and sightlines at the intersection in multiple vehicles? There are design solutions to problems like these out there. At a certain point, the residents of Ashland need to start holding their government responsible for not fixing an obvious problem.
Perhaps the have cheaper auto insurance that we do in California. I'm curious is it the same Patrol officers each time? Of course I'm glad no one got hurt.
As many incidents and crashes as they have at this intersection, why doesn't Ashland paint some serious yellow lines or markings to warn drivers? When it's dark and wet, it's really hard for drivers to see.
I'm thinking maybe if they installed some type of flexible reflective device between those tracks that would bend down as the trains pass but just tall enough to alert people that its not a road- something like those long flags that people used to attach to bikes for safety. Or a hologram of a train … LOL jk
The police must be as sick as a chip with that crossing. Does anyone know that if a train is delayed, does the train operator charge the owner of the car for any financial losses?
- Legitimate Idea Here - I think there needs to be perhaps some sort of self rising gate/pylon that would function for the road the same way the grade crossing arms do for the railroad. In other words some sort of self rising gate/pylon that would automatically drop down when the grade crossing gates activated to allow for rail traffic to pass threw and after the grade crossing gates rose up all the way and deactivated the protective gates/pylons would then rise back up so that idiot drives attempting to turn onto the right of way would see the obstructions and subsequently stop themselves before ending up - once again - on the right of way itself. Please someone forward this message to someone of authority in the area. The vehicle recovery/police costs alone in one year would pay for the installation costs.
As long as the pylons go down when a train comes that would work excellent. If one of the pylons doesn't go down when a train is coming however, there could be a derailment. A derailment would be much worse financially than a few people getting their cars stuck on the tracks. (assuming pylons were going to be made of iron or some strong metal)
The tire alignment guy near there must make a killing on these geniuses...
"Ashland towing, how can we help?" "Yeah, I just got my car stuck on the..." "Okay sir, we are on our way."
The police must be watching this cam, given that they are always so quick in responding to this here...

can't get enough of these cars getting stuck on tracks vids! it is nice to see how many people stop to help though:)
They need a sign that says, "Cross both sets of tracks before turning left."
Ginny Rizzuto and add flashing lights to it!
@@BricksOnly Then add a loud speaker that shouts, "READ THIS SIGN!"
Each track has two rails, these geniuses will just count those and still end up in the middle.

I wonder how many yimes a year Ashland PD gets called out to that crossing

Ashland ya never fail to disappoint us.
I've personally seen stuff like this at this crossing and I go across it every other day. I laugh at the idiots that are around here
Oh Ashland, you never cease to amaze with cars on the tracks.
I saw that second when one when it happen live! LOL!!!
What totally amazes me is that once they drop onto the ballast, they keep driving like it’s going to get better.
Gotta love these virtual Railfan cameras, never know what you’re gonna see. (Besides the cars on the tracks in Ashland Virgina)
OMG!! I LOVE these videos, thank you so much!!
the music is perfect
Why did it take so long to reverse the car off the tracks.
I really like the special effects.
A coat of Rejex on the camera clear plastic box front will help with the water obscuring the lens. Or Sonax polymer net shield.

Poor street lighting. Ashland must like cars on the track.
Looks like vehicle #1 is the winner for actually having a little more speed and smarts of getting off the tracks but #2 is much more entertaining 😂
The last one was just 4 days ago - in perfect weather.
gee they get stuck there a lot ..thanks for all the videos ******** live as well
That's why people I'm my town need to open their eyes. This happens too often
What took so long to just back the car out of there?
**Calls the police**
"...Press 1 if you drove onto the train tracks..."
I love these.
If you look at the road , people aren't even supposed to be turning into that road... it is a one way street
It's one way on either side of the tracks and some people dont understand that and they dont realize it
Look how the first car just parks like nothing happened
I can't help but wonder if this has happened to the same person more than once.
You would think that after this many incidents, Ashland would do something about this.
Surprised a train didn’t come through after all that time
love the music, too bad the lens was so spotted with rain. More Darwin please!
why? i dont get it ?
Sometimes I wonder if people in Ashland do stuff like this on purpose just to appear on YT.
I love this show lol
Almost as funny as the 11' by 8' underpass.
Time to pay myself 25 cents again!
The music is perfect. 😂😂
May as well taper the ends of the crossing more so cars can more easily back themselves out.
Video gets uploaded: title car on the tracks I- LET ME GUESS. ASHLAND
Credit to GimBoid One for getting himself out, when so many others Do Not.
they need to collab with the drumbeats guy when a wrecker shows up

I don't get how this happens so many times.
Search on UA-cam for "11 foot 8 bridge". People are nuts.
@TRAINGUY 4449 Those idiots are not truck drivers. Most of them are people renting Ryder trucks and Johnny Camper removing his AC units.
One would think that the people live around Ashland and should know the tracks. 😎
I think we are just waiting for the day that a train ends up eating a car...
there are a few really-close calls, but nothing big
I think there's a vid floating around from this cam of a train squishing a stuck car that did the exact same dumb thing
Theres a vid of a train just pushing one for a little but at the crossing
The police should be real pros at this by now.
They need a four way gate in that intersection.
It seems like as many times as this happens the city would do some other than what they are doing now, because what they now only works for the tow truck company not the drivers
I hope the police have a direct line to the RF&P subdivision's dispatcher's desk. This seems to happen a lot.
Aw, they should’ve just waited for a train to push it out of the way...

I wonder if some of these drivers were "blindly" following GPS directions. The GPS might not tell you that you have to cross the tracks first.
