In your opinion, is it still a career field with many job opportunities? Many people have suggested that commercial diving jobs are very hard to come by these days with all the new divers graduating from the schools lately. Do you have any opinion on that?

Darth Krayt it should be. maybe its hard to go offshore, but the job outlook for the career from 2014 to 2020 it about little over 30%.. thats way above average

I am always amazed to see how these ROVs evolve around these structures without clinging.

This is from Maersk?, the worlds largest shipping container company and they leave the audio in for even a healthy person to have a seizure out of pure agony

Is this an automated bolt tightening system ? Is it hydraulic ? [ the ROV sound is annoying :)]

Depends on the country you train in. UK 12 weeks, USA up to 2 years as an apprentice, South Africa 12 weeks, Australia 12 weeks. The USA time scale is because its learn on the job. The 12 weeks elsewhere is an intensive and not inexpensive course here its flat-out training as opposed to working in return for intermittent training between jobs in the form of an apprenticeship.

Are these divers employed by Maersk? Or are they contracted out to a private company? Thanks

Maersk has own team, but smaller companies hire these specialists for their operation. Amazing job.
