So great to come back to your videos and see how much you have improved not only in your fitness but also how you precent your videos :) I use to watch your videos in the early days :)
Hi Katie, I love this clip. Well done on this climb. Awesome. It's a salient reminder how we all suffer on climbs and racing in Zwift (I have to remind myself it's not just me sweating buckets). My favourite climb is Mount Arapiles in Victoria (4.48km at 4%avg 196 metres) similar to Norton Summit. You may have seen my recent clip about my climbing there last week. All the best.
Great video Katie. After 13 years off the bike I'm planning to buy (still deciding which one) a new one in the next few weeks and have to say that I've watched a number of your video's and you are inspiring me to want to be out there again.
its great when you ride in that zone where your mind is free and the legs are just spinning . you were proper smashing it out on that climb ... well done .
i'm from Pakistan i love watching 1) Andy kirby who builds cool bikes 2) katie kookaburra a girl who ride bikes 3) Global cycling network for their great tips and competitions of various bikes on different terrains.
I loved this video. Any other climbs you do like this, it would be fab to see you riding it. I love my numbers too and use even the tiniest increments to pat myself on the back for showing up to each ride and getting a bit better each time.
Top job Katie nothing to be disappointed about ,I would say just look how far you have come and there is always the next time 💪 and really enjoyed it videos.
Top work Katie! Really cool footage & excellent power numbers. More of these TT-type efforts of your favourite climbs would be great to see, perhaps inter-cut with drone footage? ;) Welcome back to sunny England! LOL
Great ride, and well paced - big power too! Is the camera bike an e-bike? Flat bars, a mirror and panniers aren't my normal choice for pacing someone up a mountain!
Thanks for this Katie, what a ride and effort. It would be great to see the gradient aswell. I live and ride in the Adelaide Hills and are yet to do Nortons. Have a bit of a fear of it, but this helps me see it for what it is. Cheers.
Great effort Katie!💪. Nottons gettibg more traffic by thev looks of it now. I don't usually ride it as i live in the southern hills but i dont recall ao many vehicles. Even Adelaide is getting more people and more cars.
Focused stare 👍. Instead of watts which fluctuate a lot I prefer heart rate. The loudmouth (sorry Durian) is on a e-bike isn't it, his cadence in the shadows seems too leisurely? Suggested climbs: Fóia - Algarve and Senhora da Graça - Mondim de Baixo both in Portugal.
Looking Strong! Problem I have here in the UK (Scotland) with riding in general, not to mention climbs-- is the wind, it just makes times so variable. Sticking with looking at your power is prob the best way to look at it. When you climbed this did you have an average power number in mind for the main part of the climb?. Plus kudos for 4 digit VAM !! ( I wish I could do that over 20 minutes)
Great video Kate, the road you were cycling on was unbelievably narrow in some spots but the car were quite courteous. Is the video clip in Australia?Cheers.
Very impressive you look completely at home on the bike. Do you sometimes regret not getting into pro cycling as a teenager? Maybe best that we can all dream of what might have been.
Great effort Katie. Impressive!! Is it possible to display the gradient info too? There's an ex-pro in Calif named Phil Gaimon who does a lot of youtube videos just like your's. I really like watching things like this. I'd love to see more!
Bloody good numbers Katie. I dont have a PM on my bike so i can only use a Wattbike as reference, but i know i couldn't do those numbers for that long. You do ride loads more than me but nonetheless you looked calm and collected where as i would have a head like a beetroot after that. Do you know what you Maximum Min Power is on a Wattbike ? Chapeau
😘 loved it Katie I’d love to see you hit winnet like that I guess would be a hard one to get someone to film from upfront. Very jealous of your trip I’d love to go there good one you for living your dream and enjoying your bike trips xx
Nice work. Nice numbers. Have DR carry your water bottle....and flip that stem to "soften" [slow] your steering up a bit. Having never seen your vids before - you clearly have some talent in you....nice work and attitude as well - you will lean out even more over the next year or two....I think you got a 15:59 in yea.
Well done Katie on getting a PR for that segment. Watts (get it?) your FTP? I know you've done videos on this but I can't remember. Welcome back to UK.
It was interesting climbing the mountain with you. I'll have to try having 2 trucks behind me, I'm sure that will make me faster up a hill ! I have Mt Panorama racetrack in my 'back yard', 174 m ascent over 3 km - painful !
Watts don't mean much if we don't know your weight. You look tall, if you are 70 kilos you are doing 4 watts per kilo that is pretty doable for a 15 minutes effort for a fit cyclist. I have this friend that is so proud of his FTP being 320, but the guy is freaking 90 kilos, lol. Basically a 60 kilo guy doing 200 watts would fly pass him.. Good effort , let us know your watts per kilo so we can understand how hard you are going.
We need your HR !!! I don't know how you manage to hold that 100+rpm cadence, I can do that for short intervals, but it raises my HR too much (by at least 5 bpm).
Omg!!! you smashed it! and lovely pain face too😁 I could not hold your pace for 3 mins! be proud of you K.K!!! 300w ..no way! are you doping with some vegan secret stuff or what? jajajaa
So great to come back to your videos and see how much you have improved not only in your fitness but also how you precent your videos :) I use to watch your videos in the early days :)
Nice climbing Katie ! You have come a long way since the first time . Nice to see the UA-cam community getting together. How was the new bike?

Nice effort, around 17min is none too shabby Katie!
Wow Katie what a fantastic video, loved watching you power up that climb, you looked so pro 👌 would love to see more of you climbing like this one 👍
Great cadence, you've come on such a lot, great when we can start to enjoy our fitness, bike, surroundings & company. Love from the UK ♥️
its great when you ride in that zone where your mind is free and the legs are just spinning . you were proper smashing it out on that climb ... well done .
Bloody good work Katie! Keep pushing! Really good video
i'm from Pakistan i love watching 1) Andy kirby who builds cool bikes 2) katie kookaburra a girl who ride bikes 3) Global cycling network for their great tips and competitions of various bikes on different terrains.
Wow.. very impressive power on that climb !! You are one strong rider. Awesome.
I loved this video. Any other climbs you do like this, it would be fab to see you riding it. I love my numbers too and use even the tiniest increments to pat myself on the back for showing up to each ride and getting a bit better each time.
loved this video. you are totally in the Zone. glad someone was capturing it on video
Watching you power up Norton Summit puts a smile on my face when I think how far you have come in.... Well done you Katie !!
Excellent collaboration with Durianrider. I really enjoy this type of videos.
Top job Katie nothing to be disappointed about ,I would say just look how far you have come and there is always the next time 💪 and really enjoyed it videos.

Looks a good smooth effort chunky power. High Revs and solid
Hiya Katie, ive really enjoyed your vlogs from Australia, and were really impressed with your effort up norton, well done 💪👍😊
Excellent vlog Katie. Thanks for sharing. Really inspired me t climb more hills this year. Whether that happens though is another story...
Wow!! You sure have come a long way since your first time up that climb. Way to crank it out.
Great ride, and well paced - big power too! Is the camera bike an e-bike? Flat bars, a mirror and panniers aren't my normal choice for pacing someone up a mountain!
Game face 😁 The most impressive thing in this video is you talking about yourself for 18 mins solid! Great effort 👍
Thanks for this Katie, what a ride and effort. It would be great to see the gradient aswell. I live and ride in the Adelaide Hills and are yet to do Nortons. Have a bit of a fear of it, but this helps me see it for what it is. Cheers.
Dovestones, my go to lung buster too. Also the most stunning views at the top looking over dovestones reservoir. 👍
Good effort, Katie.
Great effort Katie 👌🏻🚴🏻♀️
That's a wee bit of a narrow road. Nice effort. Must have been very satisfying.
Great effort Katie!💪. Nottons gettibg more traffic by thev looks of it now. I don't usually ride it as i live in the southern hills but i dont recall ao many vehicles. Even Adelaide is getting more people and more cars.
Old Norton is closed for 2 weeks hence all the traffic on Norton
@@danthedemon4302 That would explain the traffic then.
Hey that was awesome! Great do see you from this perspective.
What an excellent effort and great video! You’re strong Katie. Will you have a go at a
racing again this year?
Inspirational video Katie. Thank you. 👍
Great video Katie...would like to see HardKnott pass, Winnats pass or Riber...maybe Cat n Fiddle.
Full gas, going like a train, great climbing !👍
300 real watts!!! Those numbers are just insane.... what’s your power/weight ratio? Guess you are reaaally good!
Cat and fiddle climb is one of my fav’s brickworks and blaze hill next then the wizard and Swiss hill. Not a climber but do enjoy the efforts
Yes to the brickworks! Views at true top are lovely. Blessed to live near the peaks.
How you finding the ribble? Is it the sl
I feel ashamed of my own power output now 😂 I don’t think I could push even close to that 😂😂😂 Well done.
I will.join you in that club of shame! Not even close! About half of that! More training neeeded!
Looking Strong! Problem I have here in the UK (Scotland) with riding in general, not to mention climbs-- is the wind, it just makes times so variable. Should start your vid with a kookaburra squawk as your name pops up. Love that sound. Good riding, still aiming for sub 17’s myself. 👍🏻
Great video Kate, the road you were cycling on was unbelievably narrow in some spots but the car were quite courteous. Is the video clip in Australia?Cheers.
Yeah to be honest as this road is kind of away from the main roads not as busy.
Very impressive you look completely at home on the bike. Do you sometimes regret not getting into pro cycling as a teenager? Maybe best that we can all dream of what might have been.
Wow looks so easy for you, great job!
Great effort Katie. Impressive!! Is it possible to display the gradient info too? There's an ex-pro in Calif named Phil Gaimon who does a lot of youtube videos just like your's. I really like watching things like this. I'd love to see more!
Thanks Ted, yeah the gradient is on the bottom right of the screen :)
Super great effort!
Inside the beauty there lies a cycling beast!
Great cadence Katie looks a great ride.👍☀️☀️ Look warm weather 👍
Aaah finally a good picture of you in action! Well done👍😊
i knew that durian has to do with the weardrobe.
Chapeau
Very consistent with your power
17 m at 280W. Respect !!!!!!!!!!!!! How much do you weight ?
Thanks Mario! I’m around 66kg :)
Great ride Katie - I would feel slightly pressurised with the truck behind!!
Stobies are such a giveaway you're in Adelaide. Great video!
Amazingly good fun! Very impressive. Any climb will do, just do it !
I would have gotten extremely nervous having those trucks behind me for all that distance.
Great effort lass good watts an fast rpm
Well done katie, excellent effort 🚴🏼♀️💨
love it, i feel the same about climbs!
It's a winner defo when you love what you do to keep fit, well done kookas!
Very good, channel.planeta da bike s/a from Brazil.
You flew past the other cyclist. He got chicked & you probably picked up a subscriber! Great vid.
Full beast mode. Awesome power
You’re a beautiful inspiration thank you 🙏
😘 loved it Katie I’d love to see you hit winnet like that I guess would be a hard one to get someone to film from upfront. Very jealous of your trip I’d love to go there good one you for living your dream and enjoying your bike trips xx
It doesnt work like that. Winnats is too steep/short. You need a steady shallower gradient over a longer distance to let your HR rise steadily.
brava Katie , amazing number ,you climb like a pro ! 👏👏👏👏👏👍
Great vid! We gotta hit up the Doi again sometime.. 😁
@Katie Kookaburra - what gear ratio are you using ?
Great video Katie. More of those if you can please :)
Love it when cycling youtubers get together. (No not that way Harley)
Awesome ride you are really strong 💪🏽
Nice work. Nice numbers. Have DR carry your water bottle....and flip that stem to "soften" [slow] your steering up a bit. Well done Katie on getting a PR for that segment. Watts (get it?) your FTP? I know you've done videos on this but I can't remember. Welcome back to UK.
Nice one. Love the game face 👍🏻
When are you getting on the Velodrome?
What chainrings and cassettes are you running these days Katie?
Impressive power. wasnt expecting that. Well done😖
It was interesting climbing the mountain with you. I'll have to try having 2 trucks behind me, I'm sure that will make me faster up a hill ! I have Mt Panorama racetrack in my 'back yard', 174 m ascent over 3 km - painful !
You did so well! 18k views!!
You're doing so well Harley! You're getting a lot of views on your channels!
Don't worry you haven't become irrelevant at all!! 😂
I'd say you def have more watts to give, but you made a big effort look easy. 😎
Good work!
well done kate well done
nice ride, what is the QOTM?
Watts don't mean much if we don't know your weight. You look tall, if you are 70 kilos you are doing 4 watts per kilo that is pretty doable for a 15 minutes effort for a fit cyclist. Absolutely!! I should have said this in the video, I’m 66kg :)
Motivating me, girl!
Ladies and Gentlemen...Katie Froomaburra from moulinex!😂😂😂
Mount cootha in brisbane climb heaps less traffic and better view than Adelaide
Coke Man
Usually far less traffic than that on Norton, the Old Norton Summit road may have been closed.
We need your HR !!!
I don't know how you manage to hold that 100+rpm cadence, I can do that for short intervals, but it raises my HR too much (by at least 5 bpm).
Me too it raise my HR more, but low cadence makes my quads burning quickly
Would love to see you filmed riding up Hardknott!
Doesnt work like that. Stupidly steep and too short. Road too narrow
Way to go....way to kick it....nice effort and ride...👍🇨🇦
Omg!!! you smashed it! and lovely pain face too😁 I could not hold your pace for 3 mins! be proud
of you K.K!!! 300w ..no way! are you doping with some vegan secret stuff or what? jajajaa
Are you really sure you love climbing? 😆 really enjoyed it
Katie you look very awesome on that climb.
Impressive!!
I wish I looked that comfortable on the bike.
Did you see/hear any Kookaburras?
The road is so narrow. Cars behind must be taking a risk when passing. Does it ever feel dangerous?
Excellent!
7:28 SLUUUUUURRRRRRPPPP!!!
