    That thing you did with the tank so it folds open when you undo the gas gap is genius.

      There are some pros and cons to consider between hub and mid drive motor so think about both before you decide, there are some seriously badass mid drives out there

      @@dragon_offroad a hub motor would probably be easiest for a complete beginner, would it not?

    • @dragon_offroad
      @dragon_offroad  2 роки тому +3

      Definitely so. The biggest challenges I faced were truing the rim after re lacing the rim with better spokes and balancing the tire after mounting it, both of which are a little more involved on a hub motor

      @@dragon_offroad Cool, that's kind of what I've gathered from watching videos about this sort of thing. I've been on the lookout for a motorcycle frame that is mostly complete with a title so I can make it street legal.

      @@jeremywheeler8417 I was able to pick up a complete motorcycle that wasnt running for $400. Blown engines run low on oil are very common for motorcycles and you can find a lot of them on Facebook marketplace

    You can also increase motor rpm by goinp up on voltage . When overvolting that's more efficient then using flux weakening.

    Be nice if there was a kit. I’d like to go electric on my 650 klr. Would wanna use the transmission if possible. A kit similar to what they do in old Volkswagen beetles

    Definitely buy an elcon charger. I have the pf1500 so it charges at 1500w. You can get 10 different charge voltages so for example you can charge to full capacity of 84.6v if you need extra range or 80v to save cell life.

    Great overview! Is the display output from motor or controller? Can you calibrate the Mph or is it rpm based?

    • @dragon_offroad
      @dragon_offroad  4 роки тому +4

      It's from the sabvoton! It is calibrated by tapping menu button twice and changing the tire size. I initial had it set to rim size which was giving speeds way below what I was expecting, but figured out its total tire diameter rather

    cool job.. why not generate electricity with the front wheel?

    • @dragon_offroad
      @dragon_offroad  3 роки тому +3

      No energy comes for free. It generates electricity with the hub motor and that's called regenerative braking because the act of pushing those electrons creates a backwards EMF to oppose the flow and slows the bike down. If you add in friction, it would actually lose you energy to add a second regen brake in the front, as well as being doubly complicated and expensive
