    My choice is with Ryzen, but you definitely can't ignore the 13400. The 13100 is not worth it in my opinion for its current price since its basically a slightly higher clocked 12100 that doesn't give that much more performance, but the 13400f is basically a 12600k that is worse at productivity but the same at gaming along with all those e cores for a good amount less. Definitely a good buy

    • @CyberneticArgumentCreator
      @CyberneticArgumentCreator Рік тому

      I have never once heard of anyone I know upgrading into the same socket with a new CPU. It's just such a non-consideration and a waste of money to upgrade during the time that the platform is relevant, then becomes a waste of money to spend on an outdated socket once the socket is no longer current. The difference in platform price between the intel system and the AMD system could net you a 6800 instead of a 6700XT on the same budget, which would be a better place to put your money.
      Going from 12->16GB VRAM and from 192-256 bit bus is going to be a better way to make the build last longer than buying the AMD platform and then replacing the processor again in a year or two. You've already built the system, and it's fine, but that's the consideration in a new build for buyers.

I have this weird feeling that the current BIOS releases for these "new" non k cpus are broken somehow as well. I've been seeing the 13400 losing to the 12400 in more than 1 case throughout multiple videos which makes no sense. How is a newer part with +4 e cores, more l2 cache and higher clocks losing to its older sibling? Computers are stupid. Or maybe it's the people coding things *cough* microsoft *cough* msi and gigabyte who have spelling errors in the BIOS *FUCKING COUGH*. How am I supposed to have peace of mind that my BIOS is coded properly if you cant even read a translated word, which is probably on a piece of paper in front of you and copy it to the bios without making spelling errors?

    • @BitZapple

      everything higher than RTX 3080 / RX 6800XT is starting to get into bottleneck territory (depending on your screen as well though), for a 4080 or XTX you should probably change out the 5900X with a 5800X3D to make maximum use in high fps multiplayer games.

    • @razorphone77
      @razorphone77 Рік тому

      @@BitZapple doesnt the 5900x do better than the 5800X3D despite the cache? Also if I get diminishing returns from anything above a 3080 which means every 40 series card out so far, then that's depressing given that the 5900x was more than £500 2 years ago. We're basically saying there's no point getting a 40 series card unless you're prepared to upgrade your whole rig. ie go to AM5 with DDR5 in the case of AMD. Either that, or I've got to got to 4K instead of 1440p. But if I go to 4k, the frame rates just aren't there in many games if u use RT unless I employ 'fake frames' for ALL cards above 3080 maybe with the exception of the 4090.
      Lets say I'm happy on 1440p. But I DO want to put the sliders to the right in terms of graphics and I DO want to use RT. Doesn't that give the GPU more to do per frame and therefore not so much of a bottleneck?

      I run a 5800X3D/3090 @ 1440p and it's very well balanced. The 5900x will be slower (vs X3D) in about half the games out there, but I don't think a 4070ti, XTX, or 4080 would be a bad choice. A 4090 would be overkill unless you plan to go to 4K or do VR (in which case totally do the 4090).

Just imagine upgrading from a 7000 series Ryzen to a 10000 or 11000 series Ryzen with the same motherboard, mirroring my experience of moving from a Ryzen 5 1400 to a Ryzen 7 5700X with the same affordable A320 chipset motherboard through a simple BIOS update (MSI). Though I might be stuck with Gen3 PCIe speeds, the difference isn't substantial. It's not like Gen5 from the AM5 boards will become outdated anytime soon, and Gen3 is still kicking for me, at least.

For now, I'd stick to 13400F with DDR4 RAM since I only do gaming, and the gaming performance diff between DDR4 and 5 is not that significant so it's not worth it for me.
