  • If you're wondering how the Invader Amplification 550 BlueGrass amp sounds with gain fully cranked up, we tried it. Feed the amp with a guitar with active EMG pickups, and you will get meaty, slightly fuzzy distortion sounds out of it. Lowering the volume on the guitar, the tube amp cleans up nicely. No pedals are involved it is just the amp with a matching 1x12” Serie 9 - 9112 Guitar Cab.
    The gain control is at about 80% and the amp is in 35-watt mode, resulting in smoother, creamier, distorted tones.

    A Shure SM57 is used as the main microphone (cap edge, on axis, about 2 cm from the grill cloth), and a tiny bit of room tone is captured with an AT2035 is added to the mix.
    No equalizer applied to the mic signals, just a little compression (WesAudio Rhea) and a limiter (Brainworx bx_limiter True Peak).
