Hello, I've happily stumbled across this fab, informative video. I really felt you put things across well and I have definitely come out the other side with more effective understanding of the minute taking process. I am now looking forward to putting these tips and techniques into practice in my workplace. Thank you.
This is an excellently prepared talk. Every committee person or voluntary secretary should see it. The promised guide 'Secrets of successful minute and note taking' remains a secret, but there is a transcript under '. . . More'. The transcript is hilarious, as are many of Dragon Naturally Speaking's interpretations. My favourites: …your gender is your fundamental guiding tool (agenda) …be really really careful what you right (write) …write much much faster, much more allegedly (legibly) …if you’re going to use a ballpoint make sure it’s like white (lightweight) …if you’re thrown into it with just an hour to despair (spare) …when you’re actually having a break, that’s the time to tidy up your nose (notes) …you’re not going to be able to write for beta minutes (verbatim) Thank you, Allison, for facts and FUN.
Thank you for this video. I have to take minutes at my new workplace. I absolutely have no idea or experience in the construction side of a gas company. I definitely have to speak up when a person doesn't stay on the agenda. This happens everytime with the same person. I don't want to be rude, but I am trying my best and this person is not helping my situation.
*When I was taking minutes of the meeting, before the actual meeting, I asked my Doctor (I work in a hospital's laboratory) to clip on his polo pocket my flashdrive-sized audio/voice recorder. With that, I can review the actual meeting.* *_If you have a GoPro, you can even video record the actual meeting while being discreet. I did this during a big (auditorium size) lecture/orientation. But if it's in a smaller meeting set-up, it's best to actually ask for permission._*
You are brilliant! as you are beautiful..! Hope you will keep up with today's technology to help us stay on track with development. Much appreciate it. Thank You. :)
You could but without notes you wouldn't have the important points and tasks clarified... and they wont get addressed. Going back to listen to the meeting again and again to find the point or action would be a waste of time
