Glad the video was useful! You can play lots of stuff with 49 keys, so depends on what you mean by "play something". If you're taking piano lessons you'd probably need 61.
I have a Komplete on my desk that I use with Ableton, but I have a KeyLab 61 in my living room that I use with real synths. I'm really surprised you think the springy keys on the Komplete are better. I guess the KeyLabs got cheaper, because they definitely cost less than the Kompletes. Arturia's Analog Lab is actually really good. It has a ton of good synth emulations. And it auto-maps the encoders & faders for all the synths. The Komplete is OK, but I wouldn't buy another keyboard that didn't have MIDI out. If you're just using it with a DAW, the Komplete is good if you really like the cheap springy synth keys on the Komplete. But that's crazy. The KeyLab Essential has much better keys, and the KeyLab MkII has even better keys than that. And if you're using a DAW, don't you want controls? A LaunchKey or a KeyLab both have much better DAW integration than the Kompletes. The KeyLab has drum pads and faders, and it's still more compact because it's a better design. The KeyLab 61 will fit on a desk, but the Komplete A61 probably won't. When I'm using the Komplete, I use a LaunchPad, too. I'm just used to the LaunchPad. But the average person using a DAW would probably prefer a LaunchKey or a KeyLab MkII. The Kompletes all have a bunch of wasted space (except for the Komplete A25), and the DAW integration is so bad.
Hey, keyboard feel is a matter of personal preference. You're entitled to your opinion but no need to call me crazy 😂It's been almost 2 years since that review and I still stand by my opinion about the keys on the Essential. I've sold mine but I played one again a couple of months ago and it's probably one of the worst keyboards I've ever played.
I’ve explained a bit more in the reviews I have for each keyboard but in a nutshell: Keylab keys feel too light for my taste, not enough resistance and it feels like there’s a sponge undrneath. KK keys are semi-weighted, so a bit more resistance (but not too stiff) and generally feel sturdier and higher quality. But it’s a personal preference, you have to try them and decide for yourself. Some people prefer the Keylab keys. If you don’t play keys and don’t have a certain preference, it probably doesn’t matter.
Yeah, it can work with everything as a simple MIDI keyboard but advanced integration isn’t available for all DAWs. Ableton and Logic have great integration (and maybe Cubase?).

KOMPLETE KONTROL software is absolute garbage ! I am stuck for about a week not able to use the software at all (as I have endless problems either with plugins or content libraries). Every time I open Native Access it goes out of the screen. Many interfaces opened in Kontakt on my 4K screen are completely unreadable (to small to blurry). Support ticket wizard is the worst thing I have seen in my entire life. No way to track tickets directly through the site. Now way to register/unregister single products from KOMPLETE and Native Access interface (which BTW endlessly keeps asking for an update). Major features which users ask for years are not added. Upgrade policy sucks - meaning - if you purchased a single product from NI and not it is part of the KOMPLETE suite they want you to pay for it twice and you end up with 2 licenses and SN). You will not get a refund or discount. NI support replies about every 3rd day so after a week they asked few dozens of questions and no help, no resolution, no nothing. I paid in last 5 years $5k+ for their hardware and software and it was the worst musical decision of my life. While the 3rd party libraries and sounds are mostly OK or even excellent, everything else about this company simply sucks. I would never buy any NI products again nor recommend it to a friend. I really wish that one day Kontakt is replaced with some "real software" by some other competitive company. Perhaps the reason that this company is so bad is that they have grown so big and they believe there is no competition for NKS and alike. The bottom line is: when it works it is OK (jut ok but not god) but when even small problems arise you are on your own and you waste tons of time and energy. Not worth the price.

A49 have an amazing keys its much solid and better. Whats more important - cheaper even. Thats why I dont like Arturia: they made a price but they dont gives a quality so…🤷♂️
@@jakobhermann6475 Which arturia did you get?
Arturia mk2 vs komplete kontrol mk2 which midi keyboard is best. Can u plz 2 keyboards comparison u put a video
I don't have these keyboards, so I can't comment from experience but generally I always prefer the NI stuff.
Can you use komplete kontrol on cake walk ???
Should work as a regular keyboard and maybe the KK software would work (just guessing), but I don't know if it has advanced integration. It's not listed as a supported DAW on NI's website
Arturia over NI anyway. The software you get with NI is not worth it. We anyway have to buy Komplete software. Arturia gives you analog lab. The lack of sliders is just a lackluster design for me
👍
What exactly is the purpose of the Midi out on Arturia? I thought MIDI controllers can't produce sound on their own.
They can't, it's for sending MIDI to external gear like hardware synths, sound modules, etc.
@@LowHeatBeats It's the only reason I picked the Arturia over the NI, because the midi out was a very cool feature that I wanted to use to play my Volca line.
I think I made my mind up..
Drum roll pls......native instruments baby..
Can’t go wrong with it, although the Keylab Essential has been updated to MK3 which I haven’t tried yet.
I choose Essential 49!
A49 keybed is so deep, that you will easy to get tired when play fast, i dont like it~
That’s cool, yeah, we all have different preferences when it comes to keybeds.
Answer: Novation SL mk3!
Sure, however it's definitely not a budget keyboard. The Launchkey line from Novation would be comparable to these ones, since it costs about the same.
The SL Mk3 is more comparable to the Arturia KeyLab MkII or the NI Komplete Kontrol MK2, all 3 are extremely different, with their pros and cons.
Keylab MKII (non-essential) is better
For sure, but it's not a budget keyboard and we would be comparing it to the Komplete Kontrol S-Series Mk2.
U got one guy saying the complete opposite of you
Did you drop the same comment on their video too? 😀
arturia tech support is HORRIBLE
Sorry to hear that :/
@@LowHeatBeats returned my arturia and got NI KK A49. So much easier to set up. Th. for your video
