Welcome to the another iteration on History of Motorcycles!
In this episode we are gonna go over The History of Hero Honda Motorcycles.
Here is the quick summary,
Before the Hero and Honda came together as a joint venture, Hero was a brand name used by Munjal Brothers to manufacture Hero Cycles.
Honda on the other hand was the last Japanese two-wheeler giant to enter Indian Motorcycle Industry after Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki.
In 1984,
Honda and Hero came together as a joint venture to manufacture motorcycles under the brand name Hero Honda and formed Hero Honda Motors Limited.
In 1985,
The company’s first motorcycle Hero Honda CD 100 was launched. Hero Honda became the first company in India to introduce 4-stroke motorcycles which set the standards for fuel efficiency back then.
In 1989,
After celebrating the success of CD 100 and 1 lakh motorcycles produced, Hero Honda launched Sleek.
In 1991,
Hero Honda produced 5 lakh motorcycles and launched CD 100 SS.
In 1994,
Hero Honda launched a new motorcycle named “Splendor”. Splendor was the successor of CD 100.
In 1999,
The company launched a new motorcycle named “CBZ”.
In 2001,
Hero Honda launched two new motorcycles: “Hero Honda Passion” and “Hero Honda Joy”.
In 2002,
Hero Honda Karizma and Hero Honda CD Dawn were introduced along with the upgraded models of Splendor and Passion named “Splendor+ and Passion Plus”.
In 2003,
Hero Honda introduces a brand new motorcycle “Ambition 135”.
In the same year Hero Honda also introduces a new variant of Hero Honda CBZ named Hero Honda CBZ Star.
In 2005,
Hero Honda introduced four new motorcycle models namely Super Splendor, CD Deluxe, Glamor and all new Achiever.

My father got his CD100 in 1996..when I was born..now iam 25 yrs and it's still running got it serviced and some parts replaced..but still works like a charm...the steel and the overall body build is so great..also great mileage unlike the recent bikes

The torque of cd100ss is 0.73,not 7.3

Do a proper research before making a video. The original Karizma had only 17bhp and 18.35Nm torque. What you mentioned were specs of the 2014 facelift model.

Their is difference between silencer only as before 2000 year Splendor silencer was having a beat but after that 2000 year Splendor silencer was not having any exhaust beat and was smooth beacuse of the emission norms this was done except every thing is same
