The issue with a lot of local police officers assigned to a federal task force is that some of them believe they are above the law. As a former very large agency officer who worked with a Federal Task Force I’ve seen several officers let their assignments go to their heads.
The problem is not just the abusive DEA using illegal searches. The TSA is also to blame, because they are the ones who point out possible juicy targets for the illegal searches to steal any cash from passengers.
Many people with far less then what is required to be declared have had their money stolen. Declaring makes no difference anyway, it just alerts the government so they can steal it easier.

@@treuky UNFORTUNATELY one agent's mother is another agent's suspect!

That is terrible that these DEA agents abusing their power instead of doing their real jobs.
To be fair most of their cause for existence is stuff like this. Stopping real large-scale dangerous drug activity is mostly related to fbi and cia, also where the cia is responsible for setting up the networks of hard drugs in the first place, like cocaine from latin america, and fentanyl from china.
These cops seem to think that protecting your rights is "disrespectful"... Maybe they should consider how disrespectful it is to confront someone, in public, with no probable cause, and "detain" them, without legally detaining them...
This is no different from an alley mugging, this is no different from a house burglary. Absolutely disgusting!
Unlike all those civil asset forfeiture is still legal and few politicians or law enforcement agencies want to turn off that spigot. Too much money to be made and they always argue about how it only affects criminals carrying around large amounts of drug money.
wrong, they have government backing... your examples don't

Thank you for exposing corruption. Im so sick of our rights being trampled. I know this was a long investigation, but you did a great service for our country by protecting what little freedom we have left. I saw this story months ago and was delighted to see you expand it.

It's called intimidation and retaliation by cop!!! That's why he doesn't want his face on this.
Absolutely! The potential repercussions could be endless!!!
DEA is a federal agency not a cop
@@cavgrey8 True. But in this context it it's not about the definition - it's about the application.
@@cavgrey8Let me help you out. They are LEO’s for the federal government.
@@cavgrey8 "Cops" are law enforcement agents, when they detain you, send you to jail and court, they are acting as the plaintiff on behalf of the government, administered through their department. DEA are administered directly from the federal level. Both swear to uphold the constitution which they frequently violate.
Thank you. This is what reporters and the idea of a free press is about.
I worked for a air carrier based at CVG that transports US Military and dependants across the globe. When that same guy told me he was going to search my bag and asked me for consent, I told him I did not have the authority to consent. That took him off his stride. I said that I do not consent because I cannot consent. Search it at your peril. The dog 'sat' on it. No drugs or money was found. I had already reported the US Government contract flight schedule as 'compromised' since they took it out of my line of sight! His actions cost the US Federal Government 94 million and netted them not a penny!
Holy cow!
Can you explain more? I don’t understand.
@@TheBoobanschizophrenia.
HTF does your process have such a vulnerability in it? If *any* simple step could fail and cost 94 million, that's a design flaw.
@@GamesFromSpace - imagine opening a Classified document that included a list of targets, their locations, and the scheduled drone strikes, and all of that had to be scrapped because that ATF agent had compromised the information
I'm personally pleasantly surprised that a mass media outlet is reporting on this! Actually, I thought the reporters did an outstanding job.
Many various emotions goes through my mind when I hear blatant abuse like this! These types of law enforcement personnel need to be re-schooled/restrained, or let go!
If this fella made it through TSA security then he must be free to go, unless there is legitimate probable cause!
Those who say " if you don't have anything to hide then what's the issue ", I say , I like my privacy and my consitutional safeguards . It's not anyone's business what I have in my pocket, what I'm cooking on my grill, or where I'm going, etc.
They need to be in prison.
To all those who are wondering, "why did this guy cause all this trouble, why didn't he just comply?" The answer is that all government agents have sworn an oath to defend the same Constitution that allows that man to enjoy his freedom from this EXACT kind of outrageous Government behavior. In a perfect world, government employees would never make an illegal or unconstitutional request of a citizen. Sadly the world is full of dumbshits like this DEA team who think they are above the laws and the Constitution upon which the laws are founded.
I laughed when dea said “you disrespected me.” All I had seen was him (dea) disresopoecting his victim and the constitution.
That’s not the reason. The reason is to stop government abuse, and that’s why it’s the law.
They needed money like many other police stations, so taking your money it is.
Do what the Government tells you to do. Just comply. Now sew that Star of David on your jacket, Abe!
This DEA agent belongs in jail.
That officer is giving signs of a psychopath
The airline passenger needs to sue the DEA and the agent personally for breaking the law, which is false imprisonment and robbery. That agent needs to lose his badge and definitely should be in prison. The agent was disrespectful to the passenger.
Unbelievable 😮
Perfect example why people hate law enforcement
They did this shit to me. I was traveling with my husband. My husband wasnt pulled aside for an additional bag check, but I was. This was during boarding. My husband wanted to wait with me. The lady told him he wasmt allowed to wait with me and instructed him to board the plane. He ended up waiting at a distance instead. Imagine if something had happened? I'd have been stuck in a foreign country alone had they held me too long, all because they insisted my husband wasn't allowed to wait for me during this bag check. Really stupid
The illusion of freedom.
I just sent my first 25.00 to The institute of justice and it'll be a monthly donation.
We send our soldiers overseas to fight for our freedom and our rights when they should be fighting that right here at home.
The federal corporation known as the United States sends soldiers to other countries to fight the wars of wealthy central bankers, wealthy families, corporations, and military contractors. The military and police and your mindset is the reason why the DEA criminal agent and other government employees behave they way that they do.
POS agent saying you disrespected me!!
The officer disrespected the badge.
Unbelievable video. Thankfully he has video evidence for a slam dunk lawsuit.
The dogs first pass showed nothing.
The second pass where they handler made the mouth sound and pointed directed the dog to indicate.
BOTH officers should be sued AND the dogs treats should be withheld (joking on this last one) 😂
Had a cop stop myself with my wife & 1yo child on our way to church, right across from it & the passenger cop got out with a shotgun & asked for my licence. Gave it to him & confused i said "can i ask why you pulled me over?"
He smiled handed my licence back & said "sure".
Thengot in the car & drove away without answering. Everyone at church asked what happened. Said " i don't know."
The looks we got!
The issue with a lot of local police officers assigned to a federal task force is that some of them believe they are above the law. As a former very large agency officer who worked with a Federal Task Force I’ve seen several officers let their assignments go to their heads.
They are above the law. That's why none of them were punished for what they did on this tape
They keep the cash???? Corruption....
Bingo
“If you have nothing to hide…” What a flimsy accusation point.
I always have something to hide.
It’s called my privacy and it’s mine.
That dog and the handler need to go for retraining and every case they’ve been involved in need to be reinvestigated
Excellent reporting.
The problem is not just the abusive DEA using illegal searches. The TSA is also to blame, because they are the ones who point out possible juicy targets for the illegal searches to steal any cash from passengers.

D E A - Drugs Easily Available Fighting the longest losing war in American history - the war on drugs.
A lot of leos are double agents in the drug war.
remove all immunity from law enforcement and judges!
More people need to see this...
Carrying any amount of cash on a domestic flight is not illegal
LoL
Leos do not care.
LMAO
It's also not illegal to have cash in your vehicle but cops stop people all day long and steal their money... legally
Exactly. You just need to declare over a certain amount at customs when you land.
Not illegal but you do have to declare any amount over $9,999.00
Many people with far less then what is required to be declared have had their money stolen. Declaring makes no difference anyway, it just alerts the government so they can steal it easier.
I spent most of my adult life as an LEO. Some reserve and even a limited federal commission. These cops are disgusting. I suffered nearly fatal trauma, went to the hospital on duty for treatment, and my family went through hell when bad things happened and they could not make sure I was OK. Pre cell phone. I knew sometimes I had to let bad guys go. I worked harder and got smarter. I never considered abusing my fellow American’s rights instead of diligent police work.
Its happening nation wide
the government violates and tries cancelling back our rights every day, in the words of one certain federal employee Mr.kissinger: "Before the FOIA, i used to say things like: the illegal we can do immediately... the unconstitutional takes a bit longer; But now, I'm afraid to say things like that."
Suppose you have a photo of your toddler naked in the bath. Wanna bet they won't make that probable cause for further disrespect of your rights? Never consent to a search. I'm glad this hero allowed it because it did what he said: proved the dog wrong. But that could have gone wrong.
Ignorance of the law is an excellent excuse if it is a stupid law.
Retired career federal prosecutor who handled many many drug cases with DEA. This is an outrage! Only once did I have a case where a local police officer searched a checked bag without a warrant, and even then I was stunned…turns out there were drugs in the bag but the unlawful search precluded us from going forward.
The DEA needs to be forced to reimburse him for the missed flight, and for any other costs incurred.
Agent should be FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have probable cause or a warrant? If not, walk away................
This makes my blood boil.I was moving 1,000 miles away. I didn't want to drive with my valuables, so first, I flew down with my ton of jewelry, lots of cash from my moving sale, and my gold coins. My plan was to put it all in a local bank safety deposit box, fly back, then drive my car to my new home. I knew I'd be questioned at TSA. I told them I was moving, and they believed me. Now I see that all my cash could have been confiscated without cause. Grrrr
Citizens are Guilty until proven innocent. These government agencies need supervision. Dea does whatever they want until guy like this stands up and takes them to task. One guy I actually hope sues.
Great reporting. Hopefully there are grounds for lawsuits
I think if the DEA find nothing and you miss your flight the DEA should be responsible for your ticket
Total ass opening. I`m the government. This gem needs top lose his job and be sued.
You just know that cops slaps around his wife and then blames her for making him do it. Total narcissist.
Wow insane !
Good work. This is better journalism than I've seen on any large network in my memory.
TSA has gone through my suitcase multiple times after I've already been through security. One time breaking a candle jar. They always leave their little calling card inside stating it was a high security situation, but I never see it until I get home and unpack. Isn't that the same thing as the DEA doing this?
Pretty sure checking your bag gives them consent to search it somewhere in the fine print.
I am from the area. I am making sure this video is shared around on our group pages, people need to see what he's done.
That agent must be immediately fired and charged with violating the rights of all citizens he abused.

What is the name of that DEA agent?
Third world status when a civil servant asserts HE IS the GOVERNMENT. ‘Nuff said.
I’m a retiree that worked for the nation’s intelligence services for over 44 years. I even worked for Homeland Security. I would love to have one of these numbskulls try this with me. I have nothing but time on my hands.
If this search is illegal, then can a person put the searcher under a citizens arrest and play that out.
Clear violation of constitutional rights. Sue the bastard.

You have a warrant? am I detained? No and no, then I am leaving and our discussion is over. If I am not detained, then I do not have to talk to you, I don’t have to identify myself. No warranty then stay out of my stuff. You have to have real PC to get a warrant.
That DEA officer needs to lose his job.
He was being way too nice. Fck that!
The officer is complaining that the passenger was disrespecting and disobeying him? Clearly, he's not worthy of respect, if he's giving orders that are illegal and unnecessary.
EVEN IF HE DID, if’s not illegal to carry money!!
Illegal search by the DEA on a power trip
These three letter agencies need to go. Waste of taxpayer funds.
It's not just the 3 letter agencies. All levels of law enforcement do the same thing.
When in the hell did we have to account for were are money comes from
We don’t. Only with international travel. I flew to Gulfport with $200K cash and I was hoping they’d try it. I had 2 attorneys on speed dial. No you can’t search me. As the attorney said”… the airport is NOT a constitutional- free zone”.
Fire him
Wow! Then to completely gaslight the victim!
I'm more glad that the Institute For Justice is on this case. They have always represented the rights of any individual who truly has their rights violated.
This will probably be another monumental case for them.
The DEA has a lot of past bad behavior that has been litigated and the DEA has been harshly admonished by numerous courts and their word is fast becoming worthless. They have become a worthless entity, time to dissolve this outrageous entire agency and label all members as not hirable in any federal agency.
People dressed in civilian clothes should NOT be permitted to stop anyone! This DEA agent needs to be charged, zero form of any qualified immunity and pay all and any costs personally! Maybe when this DEA agent is on the ground struggling to breath he will understand that he is the armed thug!
We have been doing this a long long time, and breaking the law! We need to start defending ourselves from these thugs!
