    A Peterborough group I'm in had planned a century 3 lakes charity ride Peterborough ferry Meadows to Rutland water, Grafham water and back to ferry Meadows for bbq, but since pandemic most of us are less fit or like Mr suffering from age related stuff like arthritis. But once I get my e bike looking do have a go next year

    I love Rutland water. I went over the dam on my way back from the RAFA ride, but it was a bit worrying going over the dam wall listening to Chastise on audible and it gets to the bit about the collapse the Eder Dam 🤣🤣🤣

    Lovely video and great scenery...my 100mile ride was to Rutland waters and back in 2020.. in November during the precursor to a bit of a storm...headwind, cold and grey all the way! Definitely going to have to do it again when the sun's shining looking at this video. Thanks for the share

    We once did a 3 hour bike hire from Whitwell. The bloke said “You’ll just be able to make it to Normanton church and back in 3 hours.”. We actually managed to ride all the way around, including the Peninsula. Nowadays we go with our dog in a trailer and take our time but we still manage it in in just over 3 hours riding time. There are a few nice pubs to stop for lunch on the route and a few cafes for drinks and snacks.

    Thanks for that - I got transported down memory lane. I took part in a sportive earlier this year, called the Tour de Rutland (honestly!). One ride in the event involved cycling around a large part of Rutland Water. My observations were that it is a beautiful part of the country with some great cycling routes and that it is a lot hillier than I'd previously imagined😅.

    Great ride and lovely video Roy. The wife and I have been talking about cycling around Rutland Water, so will now make the effort. Didn’t realise there was a Peninsula? Even more to explore. Stay safe on the roads. 👍

    Nice relaxing and beautiful day to ride. The summer is finally in there I guess it's the best time of year. It's too hot here in Florida but I still ride. Just completed my longest day ever 17 hours on a bike, 192 miles. Have a great day and enjoy your ride! 👍

    🐊Looks more like a crocodile than an Ichthyosaur but what do I know! Great Video Roy!Have you ever ridden an electric bike I know a lot of people think it's cheating because you are assisted but I've been to places I couldn't have ridden on a standard bicycle or manual as I call them either way I'm fit riding around the offroad inclines of the Isle of wight and I'm not a youngun!!Safe Riding Mate!👌

      Not only have I ridden an e bike, Roger, I own one. In fact I started this channel with a review on my Ribble CGR Al e gravel bike. I’ve also made some other e bike related content, including battery care. I mainly ride it for ride leading as I need to carry more kit so have my rear rack and bag permanently fitted. I just love dealing with those that say e bikes are cheating. My stock answer is ‘who are the riders cheating?’ I do have a problem with those that blatantly use e bikes to steal Strava K/Qoms by not flagging as an e bike ride. Although that doesn’t affect me, I fully understand It will upset some. I think it’s great that e bikes open up cycling to many that wouldn’t otherwise manage it. That includes me on days when the ‘me powered’ bike is just a bit too hard or I want to keep up with my son.

    Parking in Exton would save £12 for a Lakeside parking fee I believe. Met a rider on an electric unicycle. Our ebikes cut out at 15.5 mph but unicycle goes much faster.
    I really wanted a thudbuster to spare my rear end on so much of the ride.

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  Рік тому +1

      Yes, the parking is steep at £12 a day, but then it does go toward the upkeep. Having said that, some of the trails are getting a bit rough and in need of maintenance. Personally, I feel 15.5 mph is fast enough on shared paths - and on a unicycle 😱

    thought for a moment that might've been Mrs Woodentop, then realized she would NEVER go out in the garden naked. gorgeous gorgeous ride you two.... my favourite of all yours I've watched. and hardly any auto-traffic! and since, as you mentioned at the end, cool due to the expanse of water, you weren't sundried after all. Just out of interest could you tell me what your range is on your Ribble CGR Al e when you have charged the internal battery to 100%🤔mine is showing 41 miles🙄

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  Рік тому +1

      It really depends on how much I pedal, Keith. If I’m using low power for most of the ride I would expect around the 40 miles. I never take notice of what the app estimates as it has no idea of the intended route. I have recently adjusted the low power setting down to 70% and get around the 50 miles. As you will know from an old video I did get 100 miles from the internal battery but that was on a fairly flat course so I pedalled a lot.

      @@RideWithRoy thanks..so I rode today, see my Strava.. did 18 miles,860 ft climbing and had 46% battery left…seems I’m getting less distance than I was! Had some issues with my Range Extender, kept turning off so my range dramatically reduced..spoke with Ribble and they suggested returning the item for inspection.. only had it less than a couple of years..so waiting for their assessment..the main battery battery cycles are less than 50, would have expected the battery life better. Sooo annoying 🙄

    • @RideWithRoy
      @RideWithRoy  Рік тому +1

      That’s certainly a case of ‘not meeting reasonable expectations’ on the range extender. It’s probably a case of a firmware update with it, as they can need it as much as the onboard battery.
