To be fair, the censor board even today allows some extremely controversial stuff. Radhika Apte's nude scenes in Parched played uncut in theaters (with a digital blur on, but still). These guys are very inconsistent

After years of my GrandMa death, we got to know that she and her friends used to do go watch movies, and FIRE was one of those. I feel, in city like Allahabad this kind of interest or (acceptance) was incredible.
I was actually surprised when she said the Censor Board held its ground! I wouldn't expect that in present times.

I don't know why ppl become so insecure about everything the moment someone comes up with a topic like homosexuality. Ppl feel it to be a threat on society, marriage, relations and what not. Like ppl still can't accept these things they get enraged thinking that this can destroy their everything. I think if more movies like Fire and Razia Sultana comes in future, it will surely win over such ppl and there is a chance of everyone understanding and supporting it instead of going against it.
It released in 90s what else can we expect?
@@swatisaini6447 yeah that's true but even if some movie like Razia Sultan or Fire comes in the cinema today many ppl will react the same way. That shows that we have improved only a lil as society and would have to do a lot too.

i had lots of hope for this movie but sadly it was really disappointing.. everything was so rushed for the sake of making them look more intimate.
Let's put talks about LGBT rights and films aside for a moment and my question is this: is true love possible in a gay relationship? They say true love doesn't exist in any kind of sexual relationships. If the sex is all about quenching out your fire with whatever sexual preferences you take to, why bother in the first place to talk about an achievement when it is not really an achievement? I am relatively young to say this but i have seen proofs that crooked sexual relationships go in almost one of God's plans to get rid of the... Ahem.. unwanted from the social norms. I am almost sure i really witnessed what I think I've seen.
Everyone's definition of achievement is different. Also, not everyone believes in the same god as you, some people don't even believe in the existence of god. Just accept that there are people of different kinds, with different values and beliefs and gods and sexualities and beliefs about sex and sexual preference.

I don't think we can alter anyone's beliefs and sexual preferences for i believe in genome sequences that also help decide these things in a person. My queries are mostly about love because i am just curious, and that query came up when they talked about sexual freedom, and since this is just a discussion and not religious and sexual conversions...
@@rajamohammed8683 right. So, what love exactly is, is it's a mutual feeling of attraction, intimacy and companionship. It's a feeling, felt for someone. People fall in love under different circumstances, for strange reasons, with strange people of different sexes or same sexes. Sometimes, it's not mutual, but love is love nonetheless. Sex, in a relationship can be about celebration of this feeling, or of this intimacy. It's also called making love for a reason. You are right in calling out the achievement factor, but if you sit back and observe, we sadly live in a society where sexual freedom is something only celebrated for heterosexual "married" couples. And I emphasize on married because in the Indian society, no one is exactly sexually or romantically free. A regressive society when does something contrary to its beliefs (in a sense, that it's a progress for the society or a community), it's considered an achievement. It goes from intolerance to tolerance and to acceptance, and acknowledging these small/large steps as an achievement is a way of celebrating progress in a regressive and conservative society like India.

It's such a refreshing take on desire and its impending emancipation. Milestone achievement of Modern Indian times.
LGBT fims and non-LGBT films usually have the same story. LGBT films are potrayed in the same way inter-caste marriage films were potrayed in the past (parents and society against the marriage) At the end of the day, its a film about love. One may not like some of the movies due to familiar plots or predictable scenes.
However, one shouldnt get into the habit of avoiding all movies just because the leads are homosexuals. Imagine DHOOM but instead of Aishwarya Rai, there's Vidyut Jammal with Hritik Roshan. Two attractive man falls in love while stealing and ends up together (not a good description of the movie lol) The plot doesnt revolve around their relationship but on a different topic altogether.
(I prefer normalizing LGBT relationships instead of creating a completely different genre. Yes, we need LGBT romcoms but we also need Heist movies, spy movies, sci-fi movies with LGBT relationships leading normal and accepted lives.)
FYI badnaam basti(1971) was first Indian film that portraits homosexuality. But sadly there's no any record of this movie to watch...
For this I must say ..... They are also HUMANS and created my mother nature .... , So respect the thing ... People will slowly slowly gonna accept this... Don't worry guys. ...

That's the toxic masculinity you are talking about. While it is concerning, it does not come even 1/100th to what women face. And in a PDA it's the woman who is judged. Her character I questioned. Nothing happens to the guy. He is seen as a stud.
