Awesome! I built one of these when I was a kid, super fun. Eventually, I turned it into a digital clock and it lived on my shelf for many years. I wish I still had it. I'm always on the lookout for another one. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.
Thank you very much. I'm very excited to get into this kit. I think after the big Red Demon I'm going to work on this one before I get back into the hot rods. Just for a brake.
A buddy of mine brought me this kit from his parents' basement when he was helping them pack for a move. The "decals"are shot unfortunately but I'm going to follow your build of it closely. Good luck! Tom S.
That's cool!!!! That's a long time for those old decals. I may try and cut them out individually to still use the Goodyear logo. I think that will be my best bet. I'll do a build video on this one for sure. I have some cool ideas.
As I mentioned in the FB group, looking forward to how this turns out as I have one in the stash as well. I haven't even checked it if has decals. I should get on that. 🤔
I had one of these in ‘75’ (I was 10). My old man had 4-white walls slapped on his Gran Torino at the local Goodyear store and bought me this sweet model.…miss him every day🙏
Oh my gosh, it is so cool! It is bringing back my childhood memories. I built mine and used it next to my electric football game like it was covering the game😊
Hi, Mark. Yeah, the 1975 issue is the kit to have. The 1977 and all subsequent releases have peel & stick decals, and the adhesion leaves ALOT more to be desired. The carrier film is REAL THICK, too. If you can get a factory sealed 1975 issue, your in good shape. I got one off ebay over 20 years ago for about $51 + shipping. It took me 4 days to build, and you can bet your next paycheck the 4th day was the FUNNEST!!!!!!! It's an EXCELLENT kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!! 1/169th Scale
I did not know that. I think I'll be cutting the Goodyear decal apart so I can use them, but the rest I may just paint. I remember some kits had stickers, and they never went down right for me. LOL I was wondering what scale this is. Thank you very much.
I had this kit back in the 1970s. Some years later these kits were being sold again.... at Radio Shack! I guess they saw a golden opportunity to make an extra sale of two D cell batteries with every kit sold!
@@grandpamarkshobbies I built and still build scale models so saw them a lot in the model section of hobby shops and department stores. I think tire shops sold them around Christmas time too. My friend's blimp met an ignominious end when we decided to use it as a (American) football.
Now that cracked me up. I know we tried to fly many of the builds we did back in the day. I found you can't launch them with model rocket engines. LOL They shatter. LOL
I had heard nothing about a show in Cleveland. Detroit (Fall) show was November 10th. If that same timing happens next year, give me a heads-up. I could make two shows in one round trip! My vintage kit buy at Detroit was a '23 Ford Model T Delivery Van by AMT.
I had one when I was a kid.Plastic models used to be soo cool, today there boring and too expensive. The only models I own are radio control model airplanes.

That is so cool. I thought about making this a clock or maybe adding an LCD screen. Thanks for watching and you too have a great weekend.
Very cool find Mark, Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Thank you. I keep thinking of what to do with it. LOL
I built that kit about two lifetimes ago! I look forward to seeing you build it!
How cool. I can't wait to dig in.
Really an awesome fined Mark.
I was so happy to see it, and got it for a good price too.
A very cool project! 😊
Thank you very much.
Awesome kit Mark can't wait to to see what your plan is for it keep up the awesome work you put into your builds as well

Yeah, I would figure the decals are shot, but we'll figure something out for sure.
That a very cool kit cant wait to see it done 👍🏻
Thanks. It'll be flying high over my Texaco station when I finally get that finished. LOL
@grandpamarkshobbies lol
Super cool!
Thanks. I'm excited.
Very neat kit.
Thank you.
WOW what a score!! Now i will be putting this on my search list! Cant wait but i will be waiting to follow you on this!!
I've been looking for one of these ever since I got started on the Texaco Station. You know it's going to be part of that build. LOL
Love the old kits with the dated accessories. I remember the screw in large 1.5V light bulbs😊Look forward to your build.
I was so excited to find this. Been looking for a while. Then it had everything in it I couldn't pass it up.
I had two of these a few years ago and sold them to a hobby shop the one was built by friends brother in law and work great
I love seeing the old kits getting built.
Cool looking kit, enjoy!!
Thank you very much.
You have to display “The world is yours” on it!
That is a great idea!!!!! I didn't even think of that.
I can see you working your magic on this one to light it up. Looking forward to seeing your build updates.
I've already started looking on line at what I can do. LOL Thanks for following along.
I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. What a cool model!
I've wanted one of these ever since they came out back in 75. LOL Had to grab it.
That's cool Mark! I can see it now circling Grandpa Marksville's Stadium... 🤣🤯
LLAP 📳
Over the Texaco station for sure.
@@grandpamarkshobbies 🤣👍
Yeah that's a Cool Kit..
Thank you. I'm going to have it flying over the Texaco station when I finish that.
I got that for Christmas when it came out. Super cool! The Goodyear Blimp was a big part of pop culture in the 70s.
That is cool. I live near Akron Ohio, and we would see them flying over a few times a year. It always (and still does) get us all wound up.
That was one of my favorite models.
I've always wanted one.
I had one of these in ‘75’ (I was 10). My old man had 4-white walls slapped on his Gran Torino at the local Goodyear store and bought me this sweet model.…miss him every day🙏
What a cool memory. I miss my old man too.
I built one that I had picked up at a flea market.I built it and it works well but is very noisy!
I just watched that video. I'll have to add a stepper motor instead of the gearbox. Make it direct drive.
I had one as a kid and this was a gem of a find for you. Lots of memories
Thank you. I missed one at the second show of the year, so I jumped on this one when I saw it. Can't wait to get going on it.
Blast from the past! Another kid I knew back then had one and I thought it was pretty cool. 😁
Thank you very much.
Oh my gosh, it is so cool! It is bringing back my childhood memories. I built mine and used it next to my electric football game like it was covering the game😊
That is so cool. We had an electric football game. My brother and I used it all the time. Loved the kicker. LOL

I had it back in the day. Why don't they reissue it? Everyone wants it.
I know, that would be a huge seller for sure.
Built this in the late seventies. It's snap so you can change batteries and signs. Great memories!😊
Thanks. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this.
I had this kit back in the 1970s. Some years later these kits were being sold again.... at Radio Shack! I guess they saw a golden opportunity to make an extra sale of two D cell batteries with every kit sold!
LOL. Radio Shack was all about "Lines Per Ticket" They wanted to see as many lines on the receipt as you could get.
Too cool!!
For a quick snap tight kit this is really going to be fun.
I had that as a kid in the 70s....Was so cool.
Thanks. I will be getting to this one very soon.
Went together well but is a tad noisy
I remember it was noisy. Maybe I'll add that LCD screen to it like I was thinking. . . . Or a stepper motor instead of gears.
Sure if you modify it with modern tech it will improve greatly
awesome
Thank you.
My best friend in elementary school had this model. I thought the revolving lighted sign was so cool.
I only saw one of them when I was little. I thought it was so cool.

Very cool unboxing!
Thank you very much. How fun will this be!!!!!
I would definitely use the original bulbs. I wouldn’t change them. Keep it original.😊
I'm going to use LEDs just to save on batteries, but I am going to keep the bulbs in there.
Cool video
Thank you very much.
Nice video. I still have my kit still in the box, but built.
Oh man you need to bust that out. It's such a simple little kit, but such a cool one too.

I sure will. It was a good show.
I built that kit a long time ago. It's a challenging build, but looks great when it's done.
That's gonna be very cool 😎 👌
Thanks. I'm really looking forward to getting started on it
Got it for Christmas one year
What a cool gift. Did you make your own sign?
I built one of those in the 1970's when I was a kid.
How cool. I really wanted one way back then, but just never happened, so I'm excited now.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
I had that one once
Very cool. I can't wait to get it started.
I use to see that at the dollar store
Really!!!!! Man I'd have a dozen if I ever saw them there. LOL
I thought of buying this to make a submarine out of it but never got around to it.
It sure did look like a mini sub when I had it upside down.
My dogs hated it when ii flew over Culver City
LOL Yeah, you could hear them for miles away. We would get all excited and run to see them when they went over.
I had one when I was a kid.Plastic models used to be soo cool, today there boring and too expensive. The only models I own are radio control model airplanes.
They did have some cool kits back in the day. For a while I turned over to balsa wood airplanes. I even built Gallow's big Corsair.
