Unfortunate for Rob being the next contender; because Izzy is getting the rematch which he deserves because he was a dominant champion for so long. Rob's 32 years old, in his prime. Fucking sucks that he has to wait on the sidelines. Yet, that's how it is. Israel beats him again if they face off. In the simulations in my mind, he'd beat Alex though.

The way this team handles defeat is very admirable. Izzy looked like he took this loss by Volk harder than his own against Poatan. Perth was a spectacle to watch, very good card. It was a shame Whittaker could not get a fight for this one. Great job to the team. Volk’s “loss” cements Blackimoto as the #1 145lb, PFP in the world.

Volk has really showed everyone how awesome he is throughout this entire process imo. All of his hard work in the training vids. And his personality and charm in daily life vids. Fought his ass off and impressed everyone that saw fight. Regardless of decision, Volk's performance was incredible. And then he showed a lot of class on the mic after decision was announced, which is really admirable especially in the moment, and considering how hard he worked. Volk is inspirational. He earned the opportunity and then made the absolute most out of it. Volk's awesome. Amazing fight. Instant classic.

We usually lift light to heavy, but I guess that lifting heavy first and then lighter afterwards has its benefits as well. I was rooting for Volk more than I've ever rooted for anyone but I had it 3-2 Islam. Really one of those super close fights though were everything from 4-1 Islam to 3-2 Volk makes sense when you consider that scoring by watching the fight once will always be imperfect.
Does make for an epic as fuck "Rocky" storyline where he goes the distance the first time but goes back to beat him the second time without doubt. If both go back to their divisions for a single title defense each and then back to eachother it really ups the epicness because it's like "These dudes are beyond their divisions, they NEED to fight eachother for any real challenge".
I was the same 3-2 Islam, those close rounds always go the the champ. That's why you need to make them definitive as the challenger.

It was a good fight, but Volk was right, he under estimated Islam's striking abilities and Islam under estimated how hard it is to wrestle with Volk..But Islam did have the cleaner, harder shots through the first 23 and a half minutes...Can't jipp a guy out of his accomplishments because we love the other guy, that's not what MMA is about..If you lose, lose with honor and dignity...
