- Who's liking "The Best Dam Float Show" thus far? Clint and I sure had a good time on float numero uno, but.. Now it's time for the first overnight, and instead of a hotel, we get the pleasure of staying in a TINY HOUSEBOAT. Thing started a little slow, but once that sun went down, the walleye and saugers started SNAPPIN'. Plus, stumbled upon a big ol' bonus catch as well. PAAA POWWW!!!

I haven't been on that float from part one but the fishing hasn't been as good at the dam on the other side of the river either. It was decent until about 1 week ago. The over 20 inchers were quite common. I got an 8lb walleye out of it. Also I feel the pain of the train horns in the background.

Walleye are good eating but pike are definitely sweeter and you don't catch them as often unless you are actually fishing for them. (Either way, win win.)
Awesome catch Stachemaster 👍. Whale-eye is to me, best eaten fish along with Lake Erie perch. But a thick slab of deep fried pike between 2 slices of garlic bread is damn good also. Rock on 🤘 😎
I eat Lake Erie perch (and walleye) 5x a week. And now is smoked steel season also. I love living in a fishermen’s paradise
I lived at one time near Cleveland. A few times each summer go out on the head boats and limit out. And buddy has a 27 footer we take out for the good walleye spots

Shoulda casted the sturgeon pole off the far right wing in the corner. by far the best spot. I have caught 5 sturgeon there biggest being 58.

Man it would've been awesome to meet you, but I must have missed you when I was last on the float, great catfishing at night and throwing towards those rocks where you caught the walleye with a walking bait will usually yield angry smallies also blade baits hammer all species there where the walleye hang out

Man fishing the Mississippi is so addicting. We fished it in Dubuque a bunch and had a great time
If you go a little further north just south of Prairie Du Chien the jumbo yellow perch are insane.
PS if that’s considered a border river, which is you can fish it with either license from either state from either side but you have to abide by the rules of the state you entered from and have to take the shortest route back to the state of the border agreement like with Wisconsin, Iowa with your catch shortest route back home, but either license is good

I switched to a rubber net about 2 years ago because I hated untangling treble hook baits in a regular net
Yea I own one, but didn't think to bring it on the floats.

Bought cheap net that fully rubber since I got tired of untangling lures from the net and it's been such a nice investment! Definitely won't be using anything other that rubber net in the future🤙
