I don’t own a classic Mercedes but I like your approach to dealing with classic cars, which I have had for many years. Thanks for posting!

Did you enjoy the job? It's the worst maintenance part to replace on the M103/M104 engines. Especially if the bolts were original Allen.

Pierre, have you considered replacing the housing bolts with stainless steel?

Let's not overlook the importance of changing out the coolant too. My w126 350 SDL suffered from lack of maintenance and the use of the incorrect coolant which caused the head gasket to fail. ALL fluids should be changed out on a schedule to prevent other issues from occurring. It would be nice to hear Pierre's thoughts on suggestions.

I have a 2009 c300 and it just recently started jerking when I put it in park and drive. It also doesn’t shift when I drive and it slowly goes to redline. The only way the rpms go down is if I let go of the gas and when I brake. Do you know why any of this is happening?

I just replaced the water pump in my 250sl w113 . I went to my local mb shop and they told me that the pump is NLA . I ended up buying an after market pump made from GK a German company . The trick is to soak with rust penetrant all the bolts and after I decided to replace with new stainless steel bolts .
