Rich and Ewa in the early summer of 2023 I motorcycled from Devon to Poland where I wanted to pay my respects at Auschwitz, Birkenau. Then I went on to Sobibor, followed by Treblinka. I am so grateful that the Polish people have continued to keep the memorials so accessible to everyone. I strongly feel that the world would be a better place if everyone spent some time visiting them and considering mans inhumanity to man. It was great to see you riding some of the same roads as I did on my solo trip last year (aged 69 then). Keep posting you two.

Hi both, Poland oh what beautiful country, when I stopped working for the first time aged 56, we went on a three week tour of Poland , Germany ,Austria as my father was involved in liberating spandau, so we did the tour on our BMW 1200 r/s, everything was so cheap, we bust the bank over six weeks so I had to go back to working, around the concentration camps my wife was in tears, very moving places, we amped and bnb, but was a great tour, thanks for reminding me as I recognise some places, also being a Roman Catholic was good for us after mass on three Sundays we were invited back for dinner with families, keep up the good work love it

@@ontheroadadventure Ok, it would indeed be risky with a motorbike. And the ambulance would drive up so close to you to let you know to pull over, but there is a condition that the siren or lights must be flashing, then you have to pull off the road or stop in front of the road, because the ambulance is going to save human life. There is a film on UA-cam of an ambulance ride in Warsaw - they drive like a rally driver, and see how the drivers behave. Have a nice trip!😃

In the Roman Catholic Church they have 13 stations of the cross depicting Christ journey through his life. I’m not sure which Catholic faith they have in Poland but what I saw in your video looks like the stations of the cross. Poland looks like a place back in time when people were chilled and nice. It’s hard to believe so much evil happened there.

Felt the same way when we visited The Bridge on the River Kwai in Thailand. Such a beautiful spot & all those graves of the men forced to work on the railway. To them it was probably hell. Now everything has changed. Still had a sacred feel to it, felt like we were trespassing, but you have to read the sayings on the grave markers, brought tears to our eyes. As we rode away, could not stop thinking about all those young men that died for building a railroad that is now used by tourists.

@ontheroadadventure Stumbled on Thailand on my way to Bali way back in 1993. Changed my life. Been going back every year since. Retired in 2000 & started spending 5 months in Thailand, November thru March, the rest of the time back in the USA. YES, do go check it out. You need at least a month, now you can stay 2 months just with a passport. Fly into Bangkok, spend 3 or 4 days. Fly down to the south, Krabi is a good place to start. Pick a small bike to check the area & over to Phuket. Fly up to Chiang Mai, this is where the riding gets good. 2 weeks will let you see some of the best riding. We have a condo in CM, so have been on all the great roads. We have a 2016 Honda CBR300R, that takes us everywhere. Plenty of bikes to rent in Chiang Mai. A Honda CB500X would be the best choice, depending on the exchange rate, probably will cost $32.00 a day with top case. No need to camp, lots of small mom & pop places to stay, $20 to $30 a nite. The $5.00 a nite places are long gone. Warning, it does get very smoky up north starting middle of March until the raining season starts in June. Yes, there are snakes, at nite if you have to use the toilet, look before you sit. When you get serious about going, let me know (through your UA-cam) will pass on all the mistakes I made. The best advice I got about Thailand is "you just have to show up"!!!

@ontheroadadventure Sent you a long message, but disappeared. Been going there for the last 30 years. Great riding up north. Go for a least a month. Fly between places you want to ride & rent bikes in the south & north. Still very affordable. Let me know when you start planning your trip. Best advice I got on Thailand is"just show up"!

You are right Ewa the film Escape from Sobibor is very good and stars the late great Alan Arkin and Rutger Hauter. I have watched it several times on dvd. There is a Russian film Sobibor, 2018, filmed Lithuania and in several languages- German, Dutch, Polish, Russian and Yiddish. I have not seen it yet but am thinking of getting the dvd.
If you are ever in Frankfurt there is a Jewish Museum next to the river. It is several houses made into one. Along the upper corridor there is a stainless steel monument with all the names of the Jewish people living in Frankfurt before WWII, besides some of the names there was a red dot. They were names of those who died in the camps. While I was looking at this list an elderly lady and a young girl came to see it too. The young girl was obviously American and the elderly lady had a very heavily accented American accent. She started pointing out some of the names to the young girl. Saying this was your great aunt she died in the camp, these are your cousins who died in the camp. The list went on - it was heart breaking. I moved away because it was obviously a very private, emotional time for them. Also I began to cry because for me this was history for them it was family.

Its so nice to see you not really having a plan and spending time exploring whatever comes your way including little shops. 23:53 The most famous Calvary in Poland is near Krakow in the town of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. It was built in the 17th century and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The nobleman responsible for its construction sent an architect to the Holy Land to measure the distances between the stations of the Passion of Jesus and placed chapels in the area at the same distances. Foreign tourists are rarely seen there, although I think the sites are worth seeing. The oldest wooden church in Poland is near Nowy Targ in the village of Dębno. It dates back to the 15th century (the time of the discovery of America) and to visit it you have to go to the rectory next door so that the priest can open it and turn on the device telling the history of this place in English. It is also a class 0 and UNESCO monument

A very sobering and thought provoking video guys. I’ve been there and also to the killing fields in Cambodia. Both had me close to tears at man’s inhumanity to man. We will ever learn, unfortunately I don’t think so. On a more positive note, the jar of pork dripping you had would up here in Yorkshire be spread on bread and called a “ mucky fat sandwich “. I assume the wooden structure is to shoot at the pidgins and stop them eating the corn. You are doing some brilliant work guys thank you. Sadly I think history will repeat pretty sharpish once the demographic we cannot mention gets control of the UK. What a prize it will be for them. They hate the Jews. I feel so sad for Jewish people witnessing what is happening now in the UK and across Europe given WW2 and the Holocaust ended only 80 years ago. We must stand firm against them. I don't think many people even realise how close we are to history repeating itself. Our governments don't care all over Europe, except the Polish and Hungarian governments who are protecting their countries and citizens against mass immigration, the rise of Is slimmism and cultural vandalism. Dangerous times.
