Coming back here after the completion of the recent endurance run, I can confirm that the Shenmue community really does suck. It's horrendous. They rant at you for not watching paint dry.
UA-cam randomly recommended this to me today and I find this segment much more hilarious given what Shenmue 3 turned into, which was a giant pile of steaming shit.
+Phoenix Splash TV Pretty much. I love Shenmue but even I can admit that first game is flawed. The second game, however, is a much, much, much better game in every regard. I love Shenmue but I won't act like the crazies in thinking "it was so perfect"
Daniel Mann ...it is perfect. Nah jk man. It's my favorite game though, and I'll admit it has many flaws...I don't even think of it as a video game. It's more of an experience.
Hey man I really liked 3 and NV, didn't really play 1 and 2, but 4 was just missing a lot of content and the soul that the other games had that came from a lot of the writing. It was a funny, quirky series with a lot of options but the dialog system and lack of really interesting quests in favor of trying to be minecraft.
Like I dont even like people bringing up Megaman Legends. I liked it, its my favorite Megaman games, I wanted 3, it aint happening, I am cool with that. But then to crack jokes on the Legends fans expense and to include them with the Shenmue fans...just fucked up.

I felt like Shenmue 2 fixed the main problems with Shenmue 1...but people still talk about Shenmue 1's problems as if they still exist in Shenmue 2.

Shenmue is my favorite game of all time but Jeff has some good points, and yes that facebook group is dumb.
