I had the honor of being a line judge at the Lone Star STOL Competition. We had the best seat in the house, so to speak. The sound of that APEX engine is incredible! It's such a beautiful scream when you go by!!
Incredible flying and airplane! Your Highlander is now my favorite bush plane, just as impressive as Draco. It will be fun to see you matched up with Scrappy and Mike Patey.
It's hard to believe that aircraft can get off the ground in that short a distance - - and then you see who is flying it and "imagination" becomes possible. Congratulations Steve.
Great video guys. That’s my RV, Russ and I are setting in (out of the rain) watching the show. Lol. We had it on the big screen of the bus window and then replay on I pad.
Well done Sir !! I was on the edge of my seat watching live, really exciting competition. I hope a racing circuit develops quickly. Locally and Nationally. Then the world!! Loved it, congratulations ! : )
that was some very awesome skill and performance show.... Bette then every netflix|hbo bash... well done... please keep your videos it's an inspiration...
When completed I hope my Highlander and myself can perform at half the bar height you are at. Congrats with your continued evolutionary efforts at getting the most out of your flying machine.
Congratulations! I would like to see a video on why you use a Highlander instead of a superstore. I'm thinking I would prefer the highlander also for less drag but not sure.
Wow, Congrats! Really like following what you have been able to do with that plane. It looks like so much fun. That performance was simply amazing to me. Thanks for continuing to push the envelope with the experimental stuff. I am really interested in the Yamaha for other aircraft. Light, powerful, sounds to be pretty dependable too. Hard to believe I would ever say that about any piston engine in an aircraft with a turbo and pushing those RPM's. Keep it up!
Awesome video I love watching this been watching it for several years I'm not a pilot by any means I wonder if you can use Hydraulics to lift your plane like a grasshopper Maybe very cool videos I will watch forever
Congrats Steve, can you tell me what is your helmet brand ? I'm looking for one and it looks like your just adapt to an headset without modifying the headset
I don’t think anyone really knows the answer to that yet. They hold up and last really well in the snowmobiles and it seems like they ought to last real well in the airplanes too.
Hello, my name is Carlene Sorenson Claflin and I have a twin sister , Darlene Sorenson Glazier. We have been looking for Steve Henry for years!!! If you are the Steve Henry who went to Chico State in 1965 and taught gymnastics during summer school where we met you, we would very much like to reconnect with you! You had a very positive impact on our lives, and we have never forgotten you!! We both live in Utah and have raised our families there. We hope you are doing well! Please FB friend me or message me. Congrats on your win!! Carlene

Thanks for helping out down there in Texas, it couldn’t have happened at all without people like you helping!
She loved hanging on the prop for that landing. You build an awesome plane and Thomas back in Norway builds some incredible engines.
Congratulations Steve, you’re simply a humble man and great pilot!
Thanks Joshua 😊
Great job Steve! It was fun to watch you and Dan battle it out to the end. Thanks for taking a chance and hauling all the way down here!
Doug Jackson do it again next year I’ll be back again! Thank you so much for all that you did to make this event happen!

Well done Steve. You're an outstanding aviator and one of my favorite pilots, and that's a short list!
I watched it live and your performance was amazing! Congrats 🎉👏☝️🥂🏆
Great video!
Congratulations! I enjoyed watching this year's competition and your well-earned win. :)
We Yamaha enthusiasts never had a doubt. When you don't have to worry about the machine, you can focus on the technique. Way to go.
Incredible flying and airplane! Your Highlander is now my favorite bush plane, just as impressive as Draco. It will be fun to see you matched up with Scrappy and Mike Patey.
Faustj515 More impressive than Draco to me. I’m gonna say the cost / performance ratio is greater. I’m a definite Mike Patey fan though.
That is so cool. It’s awesome to see you fly with the Apex motor I had in my 2007 Yamaha sled. Nice work!!
Congrats! Performance was unbelievable.....amazing machine!
It's hard to believe that aircraft can get off the ground in that short a distance - - and then you see who is flying it and "imagination" becomes possible. Congratulations Steve.
Damn that was epic! That Edge Performance Epex is absolutely wicked!
At my first sight on your flying skill I was dam sure you will do the unbelievable...All the best and many congratulations 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

That looks like my old Montague ebike in the trailer! Great flying Steve, especially that last landing.
portnuefflyer thanks, I sure had a lot of fun!
Congrats Steve, that was amazing!

Looks just like a rained out day on motorcrass race day chillin in the trailer.
I’m a great speller moto crass
@@shaywilliams8076 At least you caught it lol..
I guess miracles happen ever day 😂
Awesome stuff Steve!
Yeah, I'd love to have one of those. STOL to a new level. So much so, you wouldn't need much of a runway at all.
What a great airplane!
I became a Steve Henry the first time I saw "Dead Stick Takeoff". That video was PERFECT!!!
No virus here. Awesome performance.
Congratulations! I would like to see a video on why you use a Highlander instead of a superstore. I'm thinking I would prefer the highlander also for less drag but not sure.

Great job Steve, hope to order a HighLander soon. From you of course. 😎

So great accomplishment Congratulations
Thank you!
Your the Man to beat forsure,
Fantastic, cheers from Canada
Congratulations on the win and that was some great flying. Someone tell that cameraman to watch the prop!
Hal Stockman, In amongst the podium finishers as well.
Guess he could land on a dime and give you nine cents change. Pretty awesome pushing the envelope.
“Runway ?!”
“I don’t need no stinkin runway!”
Steve Henry, where can I buy the plans to build one of the STOL-BEASTS? 👍
Well, you can’t just buy the plans. But if you’re interested in buying a kit I am the guy to see.
Great flying!
Well done 👍 brother
Thanks 😊
Wish the Wright brothers could see this. It defies logic
Great stuff! Congratulations, brother! Sorry your trip got cut short with the cancellation of SNF. :(
Take That!!
Wow Steve, they just keep getting shorter, great job!
Congrats Steve, can you tell me what is your helmet brand ? I'm looking for one and it looks like your just adapt to an headset without modifying the headset
It is a PRO TEC. I think it cost $60 and yes I didn’t have to modify the helmet or the headset either one to make them work together.
I've been studying the footage in Slo-Mo, that was a two second takeoff (maybe a little less) !!
ukulelefatman I think less
I've been to MAF , at Nampa airport. Do you take off and land across the runway? Very nice piloting skills.
No I always try to blend into the flow when I’m at an airport.
The camera guy almost got hit by the prop I was cringing hard watching him walk up with it spinning... Congrats on the win!
@1:00 it was at that point every other competitor realized they were F**ked at winning .. Congrats Steve been a fan since your first UA-cam vids
Отлично,Стив!
Steve.....serious question. Why even bother to lift the tail?
Mark Rasmussen Depending on the conditions sometimes it’s better to lift the tail and sometimes it’s better to leave it down.
What's the TBO on that engine?
I don’t think anyone really knows the answer to that yet. They hold up and last really well in the snowmobiles and it seems like they ought to last real well in the airplanes too.
How long you get take off hendry
eko bambang I took off in 25 feet.
Does el traidor his plane or does he actually fly it
how did the chinook do?
Second place.
@@portnuefflyer Thanks dude. good work on 1st.
G McNelly He got second in our class and also second overall with 60.5 feet.
@@SteveHenry Thanks Steve for the specifics.
How much is this plane cost?
I’ve seen used ones starting around 60,000 up to 169,000
