We tied a lot of flies in Gary’s class, but the only one I remember using packing foam is the Airhead. This one with the rubber legs looks fussier to tie. I wonder if it would be easier to trim the rubber legs before wrapping the hackle.
He used that foam a lot. In his ants, and beetles, and also an emerging midge fly. Every time I open a parcel with high quality foam, I wonder if I should keep some, when in reality I rarely or never use it because it is so fragile...
