  • The rear differential ( final drive) was on the list of things to do. I used 200mL or 6.75 fl oz Hypoid 80w90 gear oil. I also used a Clymer manual M465-3... Very helpful!

    I find these maintenance videos very therapeutic to watch somehow - I think it's at least partly due to the confident nature of your knowledge and delivery. Happy New Year to you all and I hope the new year brings you many joys and successes! I hope the homestead is progressing well for you? :)

      Simon B Happy New Year!!! I'm so glad you like these vids. He did a whole bunch in the fall to "carry us" through the winter! 😁 The good news is we have recently started progressing very quickly towards moving to the farm! We are working in those videos now...stay tuned!!

    I got Castro 80w90 for atv's, motorcycles and whatnot. That should be good for it correct? Thanks

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  2 роки тому

      @K Sajak yes that should be fine. The hypoid oil has extreme pressure additives for the sliding surfaces. Great question! ~Mr. C.

      @@NaturesCadenceFarm well I ended up with regular 80w90 because mine is a possi rear so both tires are locked together all the time. So I guess that was the wrong oil for mine. I went with masterpro gl-5 sae 80w90 gear oil. Thanks for the reply!

      @@ksajak Either one would be fine. I owned a Classic 1984 Porsche 911 turbo you would be shocked at the range of oils we all used. All had great results. Oils have come a long way

    Where can I get a cap from for the final gear fluid

      Ray Redding I have not had to search for one so I have no idea. I was thinking maybe try a plug from a 1987 dodge 1/2 ton truck rear end or a 1997 grand cherokee rear end. Try a search for p/n 52070428AA . It looks very close to the correct size. Hope this helps. ~ Mr. C.

    So you just put the oil in there until it starts coming out ?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  5 років тому

      TheBlockA yes until it starts coming out of the fill check plug. ~Mr. C.

    First step is actually loosen your fill plug, if that don’t move your screwed if you drain your fluid.

      @Ike Yeet I agree, that is sound advice. Lets say that does happen. What would I do? If you already have the drain plug out then I would tilt the quad on its side drain hole up and inject the prescribed amount (1/4 Qt) through the drain hole. The fill level plug could be removed to double check the level. Add more if needed. I have had good luck with those auto parts store suction guns for differentials. You might need to adapt to a smaller hose but that is fairly simple. I am not picking on you, just offering an alternative to the hypothetical stuck fill plug for the newbies. Thank you for broaching the topic. This dialog is what make UA-cam so much fun! ~Mr. C.

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  4 роки тому

      cram god I can only see it being bad if it leaks excessively form somewhere. I would love to know if you find any adverse effects. ~Mr. C.

      I over filled mine and it just spit out of my vent line for the rear end

    • @curtrn
      @curtrn 2 роки тому

      My fluid level plug never drained any after one quart. I seen the vent tube on the right side of the axle so I left it in. Been riding for a few hours in the mud I'm sure it's level now .
