Let’s be blunt, what a dubious episode! Those guys were living the high life, and were super dope! I’m surprised they were able to stay high drated out there. It must have been a joint decision to cross that wash out by those 2 best buds. I thought that bus was for sure gonna get drug out, but it just kept rollin.

Loved it when Matt said, "So it looks like we don't have to careful" while looking at the pretzelled bumper.
in that case it is see food eat it....or feed it to the dogs. Man's best friends need to be just that best friends

I love how they’re from totally different walks of life but mesh so well with Matt’s crew, those are some cool dudes!
If you don't judge, people are people. There but for the grace of god go I.
Idk man. I thought the rainbow gathering people were that way but it turns out if you stay sober you realize that they are all just mirroring eachother and not a single personality is a real one. But these guys in this video actually seems very legit and genuine.
Did anyone else laugh a little when Matt looked at the bumper and said “so it looks like we don’t have to be careful” and walks away.
Yes it was funny
Haha yea I like matt
Yes!! 😅😂😅
Yup
Same for a contractor working on a dirty house lol
As a rock and mineral enthusiast myself, it was really special that he gave you those stones. Very rarely do i give part of my collection away. It's just that people have different ways of saying thank you.
Many years ago, on the gravel road from Alma, Colorado to the Kite Lake trailhead, we helped a lady with a flat tire. Turns out she had been rockhounding up there, and as a thank you, she gave us a bit of rhodochrosite embedded in a larger crystal matrix that she had found. I had no idea what it was and used it for a door stop for years.
I love giving away crystals that I have found. ☮️
@@justgonnastay that is so especially significant, because it was something she collected on her own. And wow, that's a large rhodocrosite to be a doorstop. Very unique. Keep it forever.
Yea it meant a lot to them to hand those overs
To each his own, but to me crystals and photographs are great to give away. If I can make someone smile as we part ways, mission accomplished. And no, I don't have dreadlocks.
I bet a night around the fire with those two men would be super interesting. Early on, when Matt was talking about people who have never been on a gravel road, I was once again reminded how fortunate that so many of us farm, ranch and small town folks were for all the adventures and learning experience that we took for granted. Welcome back Lizzy
I’d spark one up with those fellas!
Yea. Because farm people are the best.
I lived on a gravel road and now a dirt road nothing like country life
Learned to drive at 12 years old, on gravel.
I grew up in a rural area and we don't have gravel roads.
We have caliche, dirt, or (shudders) clay roads.
As someone who owns an old ambulance, I can tell you those old trucks will surprise you wheeling. The big problem with that bus and the washes was its departure angle was just shallow enough to get it hung on the back. If the axle were closer to the rear (like my ambulance) it would have had no issue at all. Fun fun. All it needed was a gentle nudge to get it off the frame and it was ready to go again, both times. Love those big dually boxes. Makes me think I should get busy and fix mine now. :)
Respect, that bus has seen more off roading than most 4X4s!
You can convert those old E350/450s to 4x4 if you want. They put ford 1 ton truck axles on them, lift them about 6 inches and 35-36 inch tires. Expensive conversion but they don't hold any value so you can pick them up used pretty cheap. Course it's still a big heavy vehicle with terrible approach and departure angles so you still need to be careful.
My little impreza is the same. Ive taken it through big mudholes, over a foot of snow, and i even pulled a toyota tundra out of the snow last year
@@xToddmcx some ambulances are 4x4, especially for mountain/snowy areas. Not sure how lifted they are though.

I don't know Matt looks like the kind of guy that probably had his fun when he was young, Hey we all did,

I stopped in to visit MORR on July 27th. What a blessing to meet them. Trevor got away before I went in, but Skeeter, Rhet, Lizzy, Matt and Ed were there. I walked up and Peanut was the first to greet me. She treated me like an old friend, and everyone else followed her lead. I'll post some photos on the Facebook fan page. I was shocked at Lady's weight, and I got the same story you got here. Ed is too good to the dogs. 😁 Ed talked to me as if I was his brother, he told me of some recent medical treatment and added that he just learned that he was born with only one kidney. He'll be 85 soon and just learning of his missing kidney tells a lot about his life. Thanks all for another wonderful video.
Love it. Thanks for posting.
I myself found out I was only born with one kidney. Then found out my grandfather also had one kidney. I guess it's more common than I thought.
Doug, thanks for sharing.
Still smoking at 85. Good genes.
The bus dudes were pretty cool, nice and laid back. They were also overtly humble and thankful that your crew saved them after 3 days of being stuck out in that desert. I also like that he gave you all some mineral samples. Most people might just call them rocks, and they are definitely that, but being a geology nerd I can appreciate the quartz and pyrite cubes for what they are, and I think they're cool gifts.
Oh, and I doubt that Skeeter fella woulda had a lot of luck jumping on tat train, as hobos learned along ago that they have to wait for the trains to slow down before they have even a chance of hopping on them. So hobos typically hang out just outside of train yards to get on or off them when they slow down drastically approaching or leaving the yards, or when they hit a sharp curve or uphill climb. Trying to jump on or off of a massive chunk of metal that has millions of pounds of force behind it, going anything over 5 miles an hour, is probably not gonna be fun for anyone involved.
Jesus Christ Marie, they're not rocks. They're minerals!
@@ScottBeeson 🤣 Hank was kinda a jerk during that time lol

I agree, although it reminds me of a partridge family episode. ( I'm that old) when the bus broke down on a dirt road, the two youngest kids said they found a mermaid in the pond. It was just a girl, somewhat like those men, except those men were not near any water to go skinny dipping. I'd bet they needed it though.😜

What a great episode. Long drive to get these dudes out. They were so appreciative and kind. So rad to see the interaction of complete strangers through a tow recovery chance meeting. The pumpkin covering what I presume was a very natural tobacco like product was hilarious. Glad Lady is getting her food regulated and done more exercise. You guys rock! .

The roads here in NS would probably be better off being dirt lmfao
They've been lost out there for 60 years thank god for Matt!
Kinda surprised when Matt said that there are people who don't know what gravel roads are... I never met anyone who hasn't driven on them.
Lizzie is back! Matt and Lizzie are my favorites. They never complain. Matt goes under a vehicle and comes out smiling. Lizzie falls in the water and asks if the cable is ok. Amazing people, amazing content.
Even when he pokes his back on a sharp corner, or stands up under a mirror with his head as a bumper.
When I saw how fast Lizzie drove "like you're pulling out into traffic in no hurry" I thought that's a bit fast, then I saw the bus actually came out in one pull, I thought "Lizzie nailed it". Both the recoveries on the bus went easy. Great job team 👍👍. This was quite an entertaining video.
It's likely that Lizzy has never actually seen traffic and so didn't know what that meant. LOL Obviously I'm just kidding.
lizzy got guns!
Right! It looked like she was going way to fast but as it turned out it was the perfect speed. She really did nail it
You should always use the minimum speed. She went way faster than needed.
Definitely people with schooly sometimes go where they should not. Our new neighbor that's moving in from Florida came up to look at her property which is on a Road call Buffalo Wells Road 100 years old desert road that's never been maintained she missed her Mark and climbed a ridge that is 90° climb to the top she made it up there we're still trying to figure how she did cuz even did even our Off-Road Jeeps slide on those rocks going up. Luckily there was a side road that I brought her down through a friend's property. And you were talking about Gravel Road. We live in a Township called Christmas Valley there's only two paved roads in the whole town and including the highway make it three. They are all dirt and our population is 1600. It's interesting in the rainy season and snowy season. That was an awesome job though getting at school out came out a lot easier and then it looked. Keep up the awesome videos.

I came across your channel several years ago when you had less than 10,000 subscribers. I was looking for videos about the National Parks there. As I am now in my 60's, I was looking for some new adventures . . . and your videos have shown me places I hope to see. Today, as you talked about gravel roads, it is interesting how there are so many different experiences across our great country. I have been riding motorcycles on gravel roads in Mississippi for more than 50 years. Also, I have seen other videos that say they are "adventure riding" and it may be down a gravel road or up a small wash, etc., etc. . . . I turned to my wife and said, "I have been adventure riding and didn't even know it." Thanks for sharing your videos. As always, you have a great crew and it is awesome to see folks enjoy their work.
Those two dudes in the bus are living life to the fullest. We often forget just how short our life really is, and have been conditioned to believe we're free to do what we want when your old and your body is shutting down. Tbf, I'd bet they learned the lesson from multiple days digging their way out.
Clearly Matt already knew what Lizzy's version of "pull out into traffic, but not like you're in a hurry" was, as that seemed to be exactly the right amount of force to get the job done.

"Soooo, It looks like we don't have to be careful." That will make me smile all day.
Dudes in a school bus have been off-roading more than most with 4x4s. I was a little... reserved... until I saw they made it over that big wash.. Props to them for taking a BUS off-road!
That one on a van chassis wouldn’t be ideal because they’re so low. But, a short bus on a medium duty chassis does pretty good offroad. They have decent ground clearance, a good wheelbase, and short overhangs. Just need solid ground as they sink quick.
I would of had it to had my buddy not been freaking out about the wash and stopped right in the ruts SMH
Blue Steel doesn't get addressed much and I've always wondered how many miles are on it, what's been done to keep it going, and what Matt thinks of the earlier 6.7 Powerstrokes. Love the work!

They didn't seem too bothered, but the fact they said they'd been out on that road for 3 days is actually kinda scary when you think about it. Glad they were close enough to phone service to get you guys out there to help.
And they never got judgmental or condescending with two guys who have decided to live a very different life style.

That was a great video with lots of variety. Here in Illinois, we do have dirt roads and I enjoy driving them, whenever possible. Yeah, I am sure there are folks out there that have no clue as to what a dirt road is, but growing up in the country, they were everywhere.
i grew up in a tiny town in S. Illinois called Maunie pop of less than 100, i was 10 before i ever knew there was such a thing as a paved road
I’m your neighbor one state to the east and frankly this looked like my bus stop!
Illinois dirt roads have farmers who maintain them to a certain level😂
Grew up in Southern Illinois. I don't remember many dirt roads. There were a few gravel roads.
Many of the roads used to be dirt or gravel of course, but sometime between the 30s and the 60s (guessing as I wasn't around then) they were made into more of a chip-seal sort of surface that is nowhere as thick as a highway, but doesn't turn to mud/dust.
Kinda interesting to see a platbook of my township from 1904 and to see that almost every road in the township that existed in 1904 exists still in 2022. The only notable difference is the road that is now the state highway.
Dirt roads up in the North East too I've never heard anyone call it a gravel road.
Even after watching dozens of MORR videos, I'm still astonished how far off the beaten track people get huge RV type rigs, or tiny, low as you can go, fuel efficient cars before they can't go any further.
I used to have a little Saturn station wagon with snow tires...it was mind boggling what you could get into with that little thing
My wife had a Toyota Echo which she took some sketchy places before we met. She said it was so light that they sometimes picked it up to get it unstuck.
I've used a BMW sedan to climb a boulder-infested dirt road to the highest drive able point in Washington at over 7000 ft. This was in October with several inches of snow on the trail and a thousand feet of exposure that made for a white knuckle trip down.
If you have the clearance or have time to pick away until you find the clearance, it's more about the driver than it is the vehicle.
I used to work in the remotest parts of East Africa. As you went further and further out into infinite wilderness, the very last vehicle you would see coming back toward you was always a tiny toyota sedan.
@Will Rivers East Africa mostly gets cars directly from Japan. So lots of tiny Toyota sedans, both petrol and diesel. Back then I think one common model was called Carib.
Gee I wonder what was behind that floating pumpkin!
You’re a good sport for playing the didgeridoo or attempting anyhow Matt lol . Thanx y’all for the laughs, plus you got crystals for memories and good energy
Im from the UK I'm a game developer and 4x4 lover, I will never have an opportunity to meet these amazing guys but I love your videos such humble people with great family and friend values keep on doing what you are doing and never change! it's so nice to see such a great bunch of people working together and I absolutely loved the video for the golden nugget reveal!! :)
Maybe in the future if the opportunity arises a game all about Matt's off road recovery could be on the cards! :D peace out peeps!
Why never? If you want to do it, do it.
@@willdejong7763 because I cant travel due to personal circumstances :) at the moment any way
Oh my goodness, Lady sure has packed on a few! Lol
She's just been living the good life this year. Couple extra ride alongs and she will probably bounce right back!
It's good to see that there's still Dudes like these two roaming around. Its all a part of what makes America great 👍
This definitely might be one of the funniest videos you have made, I was smiling and laughing the whole video. Thanks Matt
I think this is one of my favorite videos yet. Kept me laughing. Amazing that they could get that far in with a bus! Loved the floating pumpkin over the beer (I assume) bottle! There just aren't many truly family oriented type videos anymore. Keep up the great work!
that wasn't a beer that was reefer 😆
I thought it might be a bong/pipe?
@@utahjohnnymontana3373 That's what I wondered lol
Ya I think that was some Mary Jane
Definitely blocking a doobie, joint, blunt, or left handed cigarette of some kind. Not a beer. 🤣
This is my favorite episode in a long time! Love the vibes from those dudes and the gravel road explanation 😂
Love how Matt couldn't recall the day and everyone was suddenly very hungry. A+ wrap up. 🤣
I am really impressed with the drive and dedication it must have taken to get the school bus through the first Grand Canyon hole.
You should have them busboys on more often they seem to be a fun time
That's very nice that Matt does what he can to include all types of viewers, and educate. Even when not necessary for most of the viewers.
Hi
Hi
I can’t get past that Ed fed the dogs too much. I think it’s a testament to him just being a nice old guy who just wants to pet the dogs and live happy!
honestly considering where other people get stuck that they made it through that wash is beyond incredible
It's the 'magic school bus' 😏
Only took them 2 days to get it through that wash lol.
A few more trips like this and the bus will have that overhang in the back taken care of:)
@@dedalliance1 took us three days to get thru that wash they got us out after 4days 5 nights out there
@@forestarcher47 Life's about the adventure though so still a win lol.
I used to use my moms school bus to pull out stuck vehicles many times. I lived where the road turned to trail and we were the first house when people came out of the bush without their vehicles. The combo of ride height and distance from rear axle to rear bumper made it great to back into a mud hole.
there's something to be said about someone giving you something in return. Even if it isn't of equal value per-say it's a genuine act of appreciation. It's nice you stumbled across some old souls!
Glad to see that Skeeter knows how to run a shovel. Proud work right there.
I grew up in Louisiana in the 1970s and we had shell roads instead of dirt or gravel roads. The roads were literally made of bazillions of little, bleached clam shells.
Same for portions of southern Florida...
Souther il uses cut roof shingles and tar. Its sticky on hot days
Allways fun to wipe out on.
I know.
The bus guys have never seen the movie “Into The Wild”.
I will say the giving of gifts to the crew was a class move. Good on them. 👍🏼👍🏼🙂
Those fellers are definitely my kinda people to run into when out in the wilderness when you ran out of anything. They would definitely help you!
Always what goes around comes around :-)
They were super stoked to get some clean tee shirts.
this is one of the greatest episodes. what a couple of characters. sure would love to see more of those guys adventures.
Makes me sad to think that people never get off of the pavement. But you guys always cheer me up.
If ever I get into trouble because I didn't know the risk, I hope someone as understanding as Matt & crew come to my rescue.
I don't think he does it for free.
Hands down my favourite people you have recovered!!!
Great to see some different types of people. Maybe they shouldn't have been there, but hey, what a journey. Such nice guys. Clearly in life for the experience and can teach us all a lesson.
This episode was absolutely hilarious. Look I've been watching for some time and this on made me feel better about your connection with aboriginal and indigenous people from the bush, and bus 🚌
Heeelaarious. Thanks guys
That's INSANE how deep they got with that! Skills! Impressive honestly.
Well he did say it took him 2 days, so more like impressive determination!
Those guys are pretty harmless and just having a good adventure.. Love the Pumpkin mask to respect thier lifestyle choices..
I’m so glad to see there are still hippies in schoolies. I drove clear across the us coast to coast hoping to run into some and never did.
We got tons of'em every year come Burning Man time.
@Amy
There are still a few of us out here. You never know when you'll come across a crew like that. But it is always cool
@G Reyes
Sadly, burning man while still cool. Has been taken over by tich wantabees that swoop in for a week or so of pretending. Only a tiny fraction of attendees are living the life. The rest are just LARPing
I’m thankful I grew up on a gravel or dirt road most would call it. It’s def a different kind of feel living in a dirt road compared to paved road. I can always expect a smile an lighter mood from watching y’all’s videos. Thank you for amazing videos. Keep up the amazing work an remember grow smiles!
[Matt sees rear bumper nearly pulled off] "So, it looks like...we don't have to be careful..."
We laughed too.
I had to back it up and listen again. "I thought that's what he said."
Love your videos! For Trevor's appreciation for old-time phrases, has he heard of these two? 1. 'Now we're cooking with gas' which means things are now moving along quickly. 2. 'Slower than cold molasses'; this one is fairly clear. Looking for more videos of your rescues!
This is hilarious that I read this comment today. I said number 1 just this morning and chuckled to myself because I always said I wouldn't turn out like my dad, but that was one of his go to phrases when I was a kid 🤣
My grandfather used to say some crazy ones like you would say hey where is this one he would say he walked off and the cows ate him, he was an old barn boy I don't know where that ever came from another thing would be when I was leaving when I was young he would hold up the peace sign and say two peaces and I had to say it back to him two peaces,, man I loved that guy best man I ever met he has been gone 25 years now, and I still miss him all the time he was a mechanic his whole life taught me a lot of what I know I have my own fabrication shop now and I still use a lot of his tools some of the tools are 50 years old when I hold them in my hand I think of him, so if anyone younger is reading this and your grandparents are still alive ask them about when they were young listen to their stories man I wish I had written down a lot of the stuff he told me, but don't take your grandparents for granted they're not going to be around forever
