Looks like the coders applied the c64 approach to this one. Rectangular gfx to display the road. However, the c64 version used multiplexed hardware sprites to display flags, rocks, ramps etc. The cpc didn't have such sprites, so more processing is taken up displaying software sprites over the just drawn, roadway. Hence, the slow speed. Still, it's not a bad game, though.
Cannot believe the speed on this conversion when the 464 is far more capable of this..Looks like it is slow motion! Allthough the colour destroys other 8 bit versions and the sound is like the atari 2600!
True, also Buggy Boy may appear slow, but it is not so slow that the game becomes too easy. Infact being too fast makes a boring game as the player dont have to to react.

Looks good and controlable this amstrad version..better than spectrum
This could have been far worse.
A good game on the cpc just a bit on the slow side. Nice one.
people are forgetting how much earlier this game came out compared with the better racers on the cpc.

Haha. Awful conversion
Not bad I suppose. Better than the CPC version of Outrun (but what isn't). Not on a par with Chase HQ or WEC Le Mans though.
It took 7 years to load, and that horrible noise arrrrrrggggggghhhhh Press play then any key !!
Hmm really not too bad compared with some of the rubbish Amstrad owners had to put up with
A little slow for sure but it could have been far worse
Really?

@@stevensgoodallsg lol oh come on you've seen the amstrad version of Outrun surely
@@adroharv9213 yes, I have that. But then I also own the arcade game too and there is no comparison

I love Chase HQ on the CPC but Buggy Boy is awful. It's slower than an old woman on a mobility scooter.
