This is genius! So many fantastic tips in one video. It's always so frustrating to watch eye tutorials by folks whose eyes are big and lifted, because those looks aren't available to many of us. I would love to see a tutorial like this for a more dramatic evening look. Thanks so much!!

Thanks for reaffirming my eyeshadow routine. I don’t have large eyes and they have become more hooded as I age (72). Luckily I have a lot of space between my eyelid and my eyebrow but with practically no mobile lid. I found the no pass zone quite by accident several years ago when I realized that staying inside brought the eye up. I actually draw it in like you do. As far as a base goes, I realized a lighter base color would mimic an artist’s canvas so I’ve always used a lighter shade first. It was always matte as there were no shimmery shades available to the public in the 60’s. Shimmers are not fabulous on my older eyes unless I keep them to a minimum and quite low. I also do a partial drop line facing up and find if I start with a powder and then go over lightly with a pencil , usually a bronze color. Going over the fold is a game changer- really lifts the eye. This is my first time viewing your channel but you really understand eye makeup for challenging eye shapes so I have just subscribed. Thank you.

A makeup artist at a department store used a shadow all over my eyes as you did here. Then she applied the eyeshadows. I didn't know why she used the all over shadow, but you explained why this hack is important. I've never used an all over shadow, but I will for here on out. I don't see many makeup artist using this technique. It certainly makes a big difference.

Hi Tina! On my huded eyes I find the best working shadows are the medium or lighter transition/ crease shades. And also I use these on the lower lashlines, too.
I do not have to much lid space but at least I still can use a lot of shimmer colours dark or light.
      Hope this helps.

I'm still learning how to put eyeshadows, what foundation is good on me (I do not even know my skin tone until I bought my first foundation) and the brushes I need to use. I do not wear make-up when I go to work before the pandemic. I only use moisturizer, SFP 30, lipstick and face powder. When I tightline, it really really emphasizes how the outer corners of my eyes turn down. I also have no success with lining my bottom lashes. It emphasizes my undereye circles. What I have learned to do is to keep the liner in my lash bed up to the spot where my eyes start to turn down and then I line on my lid close to my lashline and turning the line up a little bit.

This is aN eye and face shape problem. Check Emma Chamberlaine at 2021 met Gala how lining the bottom drags her face down Corpse bride style cause her eyes are round and extend the most verticly in the middle. Sophia loren classic eye look solves this cause the line raise completely at the outer edge of the Iris both up and down, and not the end of the eye itself (ignores it and covers it in beige/white). The bottom lashline is also lid space and you have to put a base there if it smudges into your undereye to create a barrier.

Thank you for explaining these concepts in a way that makes so much sense. It's easy to follow when you understand the geometry and how the angles the look.
I have always thought my eyes are a bit too high on my face and the upper eyelid goes up a little too far (making me look constantly anxious or scared unfortunately) so when I discovered the concept of just tightlining the upper lid it did wonders for me. It lowered my entire eye, giving me a younger look but also made my upper lashes look a little lower so I look calmer and less 😳 surprised. And as a plus it made the base of my lashes look thicker and fuller without taking away my precious little upper eyelid space.
Drop shadowing on the bottom lash line is also great for making your eyes look bigger which is kindof surprising to people. It just makes your general eye shape look larger by adding those few extra millimeters of shadow below.

Hi Elle I am now 71 and have always worn makeup , I use lots of facial serum etc but I now buy only affordable products, not high end. I use a retinoid as I have had acne issues when I was younger and have continued with skin issues which tend to be blocked pores which end up as whiteheads sometimes pretty large ones. Should I be using any else and am I doing the correct thing? Your tips on coverage are very good and I following lots of your videos, Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Please demo how to apply false eyelashes. How to trim. What shade for older women.
How to control glue without a clumpy look. How to keep them on all day.
    Thanks so much; great info.

The do not pass line works, however my eyes are 2 different hooded eyes with more than one fold, my browbone is prominent all the way to my lower lash line. When I do my eyeshadow and liner I end up having a gap..if that makes any sense lol. Do you have any tricks for me to use shadow with a very prominent browbone? And how to match my two different eyes? Love you videos!! Much love from Nova Scotia, Canada! :)

This was Great Elle, and it’s good to know that CT has been certified because finally it’s coming to a store near me so I don’t have to purchase any of her products online, although I haven’t purchased anything from her brand until I got the ok from You, I’m going to save this video for future reference when I do my makeup again and we are able to go out again. No use wearing makeup just to the grocery store Lol 😂. Have a Great Day. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺💜💜

Great video! Can you possibly do a tutorial on which brushes to use when you have hooded eyes. There are so many different types of brushes and it can be very confusing. Thank you so much
