He said that in the anime (Also Maya just saying: "that's cool" after telling the story is unintentional comedy gold). If it really made such a difference to him to the point of wanting to see Miles again so bad that he wanted to become an attorney just to meet him, then it really must've been really impactful. And that is exactly why I can't imagine it. It's so insane to go through fucking law school to meet a single person. To make it worse his chance of meeting him again was understandably low.
